September 2020
Just a couple of what are intended to be constructive pieces of criticism: 1.. The duvet was not big enough for the bed. It seemed to be a large size duvet on what was effectively a king size bed, i.e. 2 singles pushed together, so it barely covered the surface area of the bed. 2. The bath towels were small and thin, hence it was relatively difficult getting dry. Another suggestion is that the dining room would benefit from Roman blinds or something similar. We were fortunate to have good weather and sitting at the dining table, which is positioned where you want it to be to take advantage of the wonderful views, at the front window, it was blinding when eating breakfast. Apart from the above, we have no complaints at alll. We absolutely loved it and have already booked again for next year.

Excellent for a relaxing break.. We had a wonderful week in this lovely, comfortable house. The location was excellent, just across the road from small beach on tidal estuary. Gorgeous views. The 4 year old loved exploring beach and rock pools. Borth y Gest is a small, picturesque friendly place, couple of good cafes/restaurants (no pub), short walk to Porthmadog. Lovely coastline with coastal walks. Can't wait to return!

We loved the cottage, so comfortable and spacious, everything we needed for a 3 generations family holiday.. It really suited all of us from the youngest to the most senior. The location and the view perfect, close to local attractions although the children were happy with the beach. The welcome pack on arrival was a nice touch. We are happy to recommend this property and will be coming again.

It was a really ‘easy’ holiday! Easy to book, an easy house to find, easy to get to other places of interest but above all an easy house to live in. The facilities/appliances/equipment supplied made it a real home from home. Detailed instructions meant that everything worked straightaway. Communication with the owners was easy too and they were really pleasant and helpful. An excellent combination of features made this a fantastic holiday. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both Sykes and Glandwr to anyone! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Absolutely wonderful break which was made all the more pleasant by our cottage and its position for exploring the countryside.. All the facilities were excellent and the cottage was both warm and comfortable, with good instructions via Sykes Cottages and directly from Glandwr's owner. Would definitely book again and recommend for anyone with large family. PS - most comfortable bed we've ever slept in!! Many thanks

The Glandwr Cottage is perfectly sited halfway along the main street at Borth-Y-Gest alongside the harbour frontage. It comprises of four bedrooms, three double and one single rooms. The cottage is provided with everything one would require in amenities for self catering. It has two beautifully laid out main rooms one containing a dining area (seating 6 persons) as well as comfy seating and TV. The main sitting room has a combination of Chesterfield type settees and seating with a smart TV, DVD player and Hi-Fi. There is a three piece main bathroom as well as an additional huge shower room. There is also seating both front and back. The views across the harbour estuary are brilliant.

This was our second New Year at Glandwr Borth y Gest and we had a great time.. The location and property is perfect for us with direct access to the coastal path and stunning views whatever the weather. The layout of the property means space enough to accommodate both grandparents and teenagers and of course our dog too - couldn't ask for more really. The owner is very helpful and makes contact in advance to ensure all is in order for you and leaves a small welcome pack too.

Excellent family holiday.. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good for June but there was plenty to keep us occupied and entertained around the area. A beautiful location with stunning scenery.

Great location.. Beautiful scenery. Great house. The stairs a little narrow and steep for the elderly. But would highly recommend this cottage, and have already booked in October for our third visit.

We spent a week here with our extended family. The cottage has a prime location in the village with the beach across the road. The cottage was always warm and there was plenty of room for all of us. Porthmadog is a 15 minute walk away and stunning beach coves can be found just 10 minutes walk in the other direction. A perfect location.

Brilliant location.. House is in a wonderful position. Very comfortable. The cottage is in a great place for getting around Wales, and bistro and cafes right on your door step. Each day is different as the beach and hills change with the weather.. Will definitely book this cottage again.

This cottage is spacious, very well equipped, and the location cannot be faulted. It faces the picturesque harbour of Borth y Gest, with lovely seaside and cliff top walks to more remote beaches. And the busier town of Porthmadog is only a 15 minute walk away. The cottage was very clean, and had everything we could want - as well as being only a hundred yards or so from an excellent bistro. The layout is quite quirky - a steep staircase and an unexpected step leading to the bathroom, so maybe not a cottage to choose if you are less physically able. My elderly mother was fine - she just had to remember to take her time!

A lovely house in a stunning location. You literally open the door to the most incredible scenery and beach. There are lots of gorgeous seaside walks on your doorstep and all the shops and amenities you need are located within Porthmadog, just up the road. Lots to see and do locally too. We'll be back!
