Lovely comfortable cottage in very peaceful location.. We loved the peace and quiet and being able to walk to the moor from the cottage.

Location, cleanliness and two of the most fantastic owners who went the extra mile for us.. Highly recommended!

Beautiful cottage, well equipped in lovely tranquil location.. Mr and Mrs Caine were very welcoming even though we arrived late in the evening, showing us around and explaining what we needed to know. Will definately be returning to Telford, with Dartmoor on your doorstep who wouldn't.

It would be useful to make it clear that access to the cottage might not be suitable for people with limited mobility or those with lung disease/cancer/breathing difficulties.. My Mum has mesothelioma and struggled a bit with the steepness but took it slowly.

I've stayed in many Helpful Holidays properties over the last ten years or so and in recent years I've had at least two holidays with HH each year.. There was nothing really wrong with Yelfords Cottage and the owners were very helpful. But I felt the furnishings were quite dated and the decorations were tired. I'd also like to say that since Sykes Cottages purchased Helpful Holidays, the level of service has plummeted. Dealing with HH was always a pleasant experience. The phone was invariably picked up immediately and the people I spoke to were bright, friendly and very familiar with the properties on their books. The (Sykes Cottages) customer experience is now totally different. It has all gone "a bit corporate". I no longer get the Friends & Family discount of 5% that I used to value with HH. I've just spent six minutes waiting in a telephone queue, after ploughing through various numerical "options" on the telephone answering system, only for the phone to be picked up in a call centre somewhere and told that they couldn't really help me because of the GDPR requirements .

Stayed here for a week with friends and children. House is spacious, well equipped and homely. We had unseasonably cold weather on the day we arrived but the lounge has a log burning fire which was very easy to use, so we enjoyed a very cosy evening. The quality of the decor, furniture, fixtures and fittings is high throughout the house. The garden is attractive and more than big enough for children to play in. Ghislaine and Michael were excellent hosts and very helpful. From the door we were able to walk straight up the hill behind the house to a nearby Tor and then directly out onto the moors. Dartmoor itself is stunning, and there was plenty to do and see in the local area. Nearby Chagford is a lovely little town with an excellent deli and several good places to eat. I would wholeheartedly recommend the cottage and the location to adults and families with children old enough to go on decent walks.

If you like the country - walks, views, beautiful villages, tempting local shops, and appreciate someone having gone to a lot of trouble to 'think through' your needs while on holiday, this is the cottage-cum-house for you. Our family of 5 (+ 2 dogs) loved our week here. I'm almost tempted not to write this review in case i have to battle others when I book to go back!

Great location, book taxi if you wish to drink in Village. Great cottage, lovely rooms and views . Peaceful and tranquil, close to great Moorland walks, Michael and Gislane veryelpful owners live next door, in case of any queries. Lovely wood fire for the evening. Been there 3 time and will be returning as soon as possible. Already recommended to our daughter who also thought it was great.
