Great location and a beautiful house - a delighful step back in time into the 1930s but without missing out on any modern conveniences.. A short walk only from the Isis and the towpath, with a lovely walk downstream to the beautiful village of Iffley. Great to be able to park outside the house and take the bus into the city centre from the nearby bus stop. The house itself was the epitome of elegance with the french windows opening out onto the spacious garden. A wonderfully convenient location and comfortable house for the whole family to enjoy a week of our summer holidays. Highly recommended and hope to stay at Wroxton House again in the not too distant future.

Wroxton House is an excellent house well appointed and is close to bus routes and the city center.. I would have no hesitation in recommending this as a centre for visiting the Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace and the city of Oxford. The only slight improvement I think should be made as that the fridge public freezer is too small especially if there are six adults sharing. We enjoyed our stay – the main purpose of which was to attend the graduation of my daughter at New College Oxford.

The house had everything we needed for a family weekend.. Ideally placed accommodation for Oxford and the surrounding areas. Staying so we could be near the finish of the Thames 100 run for a participating family member and able to walk along the lovely Thames path to the finish.

Another lovely holiday in another lovely cottage from Sykes Cottages and the most important factor to us being dog lovers is that our Jack Russell ,Tilly was with us the whole holiday and we had a great holiday.. . Wroxton Cottage had great qualities it is a lovely old detached house very quaint and only a 7 minute walk from a good set of shops including a very tasty fish n chip shop!!! Another added bonus to us . as we enjoyed the beautiful garden in this cottage we watched Red Kites circling in the sky above!! It’s. a great way to take a holiday we have chosen from Sykes Cottages before and we look forward to choosing from them again!!

I very much enjoyed the atmosphere of this house and its lovely garden.. It was a very lucky find so close to central Oxford and to the Thames (Isis) allowing pleasant walks to both Oxford and Iffley. It proved to be an excellent location for a small 70th birthday party with my family. The piano was a great hit with our youngest visitor. Christine, one of the owners, was very welcoming and friendly and put us at our ease and was also very helpful when we left. Oxford, whilst very lively was not as crowded as over the summer. The modern facilities all worked and my husband, who was confined to the house, said that he loved the house and felt that it was well worth the effort of going. The proximity of shops and regularity of buses were considerable advantages and enabled me to make the best use of the limited time available to enjoy the cultural events on offer. I would recommend the Bate Museum of Musical instruments and the free recitals in churches and colleges. Details of these are posted around the Bodleian area, another place for excellent free exhibitions. Wandering around the central lanes often rewards with unexpected views of architectural gems, Queen's Lane and Merton Lane are among my favourites. Also, Oxford is an outstanding place for people-watching. Fiona, Wollaton, Nottingham

It is a really interesting experience to stay in a property that has been authentically preserved as if it was still the 1930's.. it feels a bit surreal at first, almost like being on a film set, but you soon adjust. the house and garden are both lovely, and we were very comfortable and had everything that we needed. only slight issue we had was that we found mobile phone signal to be very intermittent (may depend on your network) and there is no wi-fi so would recommend you go "old school" and bring maps and guide books with you rather than think you'll look things u as you go along! the property is very well situated for exploring Oxford and the surrounding area. its about a half hour level walk into Oxford via the towpath alongside the river. alternatively a number 3 bus goes past the house about every 15 minutes. although there's obviously masses to do in Oxford but its worth doing the quarter hour stroll along the river in the opposite direction to Iffley Lock as well. and we also drove out to Dorchester, Burford, Bibury, Lechlade and Cricklade all of which were lovely.

Coal fires are only available from October.. Central heating not working as advertised but fortunately it was a warm week after first day and after condensation had dried out. Directions for finding cottage would have been better mentioning Peugeot garage on same side and start looking for the cottage from there. On the positive side there was always lots of very hot water for bath etc.and you would have been hard pressed to look for a kitchen implement that was not provided. the cottage was in a most convenient situation. We never needed to use the car to get into Oxford as there was a most pleasant twenty minute walk along the river bank to the town centre.

We particularly liked the friendly welcome to the house by the owner. Wroxton House was first class, clean, well furnished set in the 1950s and just nice. We loved piano for playing, good size garden for use and eating out side. Comfortable and clean beds. We had a very relaxing holiday. Parked two cars easily.

Very friendly owners greeted us. Very large open rooms with a lovely garden and fascinating nooks and crannies. Very interesting history with period thirties feel. Lots of original features and a rare find so close to the Plain, Colleges and Oxford Centre. Convenient walk to local shops lovely Nepalese pub/restaurant and short bus or taxi to centre.

Wroxton House made us feel we were guests of a family, not just tenants. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the 30s feel. There was plenty of space for 2 couples the location was convenient for what we wanted to do - including the bus service.

Wroxton is a very quirky 1930's house, but with all of the modern amenities, very comfortable and every need catered for. We loved looking around the house and discovering new things all of the time, especially the old photos, which gave the atmosphere a much more homely feel. It was also within walking distance of the local bus stop into Oxford, which was very handy, and a short walk to the Thames Tow path into Oxford, which was lovely to walk along admiring the boats and the swans etc. Overall, a very spacious, comfortable house, we would definitely book this property again.

I am glad that it is now with a new agent. When we stayed there it was unfortunate that the heating was not working properly but that is beside the point. it is an interesting property set between the wars in a good location with a convenience store close by as well as a bus stop for getting into the city. the TV ( an older model) was in the dining room so any thoughts of cuddling up with your partner to watch a film went out of the window as all the chairs were single and mainly upright. In the kitchen the waste bin was an old sort of plastic bucket with a broken lid. the dish wash cloth and sponges had been previously used. but there was a dishwasher. The fridge could not accommodate all that the 2 of us wanted to put in it as it was so small. The microwave worked although rather small and an older model. This house could have been so much better.
