We have just come back from a weekend away with friends at this property. What an absolute gem. We had 2 children and our friends had 1. Its perfect for all the family, with 4 good sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Tastefully decorated with the added bonus of a log burner. The kitchen has everything you need and the owners even put some milk in the fridge and some scones with cream and jam! Yummy! It's in a great location to explore Dartmoor but very close to Tavistock. Highly recommend and we will definitely be booking this place again.

This is a real gem of a cottage. The location was perfect - on a farm smallholding (with chickens and ducks for our daughter to feed outside each morning). It's only a mile or so outside Tavistock with all its amenities but feels a world away - it's right at the end of a country lane so no passing traffic (the road is tarmac and in good condition right up to the farm entrance, only the final 100m or so is unsurfaced but still no problem for our car). The hosts provide annotated maps showing recommended local walks - it's only a minute or two from the farmstead to the open moorland from where you can walk down to the beautiful rivers Tavy and Walkham below. We were also able to ride our bikes from the cottage via a couple of country lanes direct onto the excellent Drake's Trail all the way to Plymouth. The cottage itself also surpassed our expectations. The kitchen, lounge area, bathrooms and bedrooms were all attractive and well equipped. There's a shed at the back where bikes can be stored and there's also a games outhouse and very big trampoline. The hosts were also great. Both before, during and after our stay Jacqui answered all our calls / messages very promptly and helpfully. She was also there to welcome us on arrival (from a suitable social distance), and the cream tea that was there to welcome us was very, very good. All in all, a great, great week away - a real tonic in a time of Covid. Thanks Jacqui!

The cottage is in an amazing location.. Isolated away on a working farm. Exactly what we wanted. We over look fields. It was very restful. The standard of the facilities was excellent. It had everything we needed and more. We were very impressed with cleanliness of the cottage. We were apprehensive about this during this difficult time. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We would certainly use this cottage again.

Lovely setting with beautiful views.. Woodstone caters for children to teenagers and we had a fantastic time. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms we’re extremely comfortable. Thoroughly recommend it and we hope to visit again soon.

We had a lovely stay at Woodstone Barn.. The cottage was well equipped with everything you need to have a home from home stay. The position of the barn is rural, however the views were incredible from the garden and the peace and quiet is welcomed at the end of a busy day sightseeing. The added bonus of sitting in the garden and having the horses, sheep and goats coming to stay hello was particularly special. Whenever we returned to the barn the free roaming chickens would always be there to greet us. The owners were very pleasant and helpful and we would highly recommend Woodstone Barn for your holiday. The Tavi Fryer chip shop in Tavistock is worth a visit. Also the walk by the river in Grenofen (3 minutes in the car to the carpark) is definitely a must do.

I can’t recommend Woodstone barn enough.. The communication pre arrival was exceptional, the welcome was wonderful and the facilities and surroundings were far more than expected. The double beds were a little soft - but that’s very personal. It seems a minimal thing in relation to all else that we took from being in such a special place.

We stayed in wood stone Barn with adult friends. The barn is beautifully decorated, extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. A lovely home away from home. The beds were very clean and comfortable. It was lovely to have toilets and bathrooms in abundance. Plenty of parking. Ducks, chickens and horses outside completed this idyllic property, and the views were simply stunning. The owners were extreme friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We will all book this property again, it was great value for money.

Had a fabulous long weekend in the heart of the Devon moors. The barn overlooks the river valley and there are some fabulous walks without the need to get in the car. Tavistock and Plymouth are in easy reach. The accommodation is first class and the cosy warmth of the woodburner was very welcome after a bracing walk. The hosts could not be more friendly and nothing seems too much trouble! We shall definitely be returning as the moors will be even more stunning in the springtime.

Have stayed here on many occasions for weekend breaks. The location is set with wonderful views over the countryside. The accommodation is very spacious and homely with very comfortable beds and furniture. The large living and dining areas provide plenty of room for everyone to spend time together. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need & everything is extremely clean. The owners go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful comfortable stay. If you are looking for clean, spacious comfortable accommodation in a beautiful location, then this is the place. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for a fabulous stay. We are a group who get together once or twice a year and we couldn't have been more welcome. The rooms are very spacious and comfy and we all slept really well. The open plan kitchen and living room is a great space to all get together, being particularly cozy and warm with the wood burner. The property has stunning views out over the valley and in just a few minutes you can walk across the moor and down to the river, where we saw a group kayaking. We will definitely return, because of its great location to the moors and the quaint town of Tavistock, but also because it was such a great place to be.

The Cottage was clean and tidy and just as we expected from the photos - there was milk in the fridge and scones jam and cream waiting for us which was great after our long drive down.. There were plenty of loo rolls and hand soap which was very useful. There was also a supply of washing powder and dishwasher tablets and load of condiments! They had Netflix and good internet connection which we made good use of too - in fact we managed to do some work while we were there which was great.

Lovely converted barn in a great setting, with the addition of sheep, horses and chickens for entertainment.. Tavistock, the nearest town, with all it's facilities, is only 10 minutes away.

This is our second time using Sykes Holiday cottages and we returned to the same cottage, Woodstone Barn, for it.. It was as amazing as last time and both families (8 of us in total: 4 adults, 4 children ages 10-14) had a fabulous week.

Hello, My sister and I stayed in Woodstone barn over Christmas with my husband and her family. Cottage was absolutely lovely, however, we actually checked out the day before we were supposed to (My infant neice hadn't been sleeping well) when we had got home I had realised I had left behind 2 items one skirt (The skirt I had actually worn on my wedding day in September) and a brand new shirt I had bought for Christmas. I emailed Sykes asking them to arrange postage to return the items and I would of course pay. I received no response so at the beginning of Jan I tried to call the owners of Woodstone barn to see if I could arrange the items to be returned and neither answered my calls. I asked my sister who made the booking if she would mind calling or emailing. In total myself and my sister emailed and called several times from when we left in December to march. There had been absolutely zero responses to my emails from Sykes. My sister then received an email in May from the owners who had said that they had sent my items to a local charity shop after we hadn't responded to any of their calls and they only keep things for 3 months. My sister called the charity shop and they no longer had the items. I couldn't believe that theowners of Woodstone barn had tried to blame us for not responding to their calls when neither of us had had any missed calls or emails. My sister called Sykes and they said they had tried to get in touch with the owners no less than 6 times and my sister and I had records of our emails and of our attempts to call. As of this moment I have had no response from Sykes. The closest I have been to speaking to someone was when I had been passed through 3 different agents to speak to Ally and on hold for 20+ mins before the line went dead. I know people may read this and think "silly c*w she shouldn't have left anything behind" and I agree! But to receive no response is so disappointing I really feel like Woodstone barn and Sykes could really care less about their customers especially to give away someone's belongings like that. If I were you I would book one of the many other cottage options but this time I will always book through Toad Hall who always give great service. Jade

What can I say about this beautiful cottage that really does it justice? We were met with a delicious clotted cream tea on the table and milk in the fridge. What a start! The cottage was impeccable, furnished to an extremely high standard, with every thing possible you would need. Bright , airy, loads of space for everything. The two fridges were invaluable, as I always bring way too much food and this was ideal for the necessary Wine and Cider bought during our stay. Absolutely everything was provided and the views from the patio were of Dartmoor, so beautiful that I really had to be persuaded to venture outside this stunning cottage and see other things! We loved the visits from the 'girls', who kept us amused every day with their insistent clucking for tidbits - and having the sheep with their babes in the nearby field was another bonus. Being avid birdwatchers the owls, Little and Tawny, were very special sounds, while watching Buzzards and Ravens wheeling in the sky was mesmerizing. Just so grateful to Helen, Jacqui and Cass for their help at every turn and letting us stay in their luxurious cottage. Nick and I will definitely return to Woodstone Cottage.

Woodstone cottage on Highertown Farm is absolutely beautiful inside and out! The rooms and beds were all spacious and each room was decorated lovely. The kitchen has everything you need cooking and storage wise, lots of utensils, dinnerware, and even a dishwasher! There is more than enough cupboard, cabinet, and wardrobe space throughout the cottage. I liked that there was two living rooms, this meant if somebody did or didn't want to watch TV or play a game, you had another room to relax in. There are 2 bathrooms, one upstairs with toilet, sink shower/bath and the other downstairs with a shower, toilet and sink. 4 large bedrooms, and a lot of extra fold out beds and a sofa bed. The kitchen had two fridges both with mini freezer compartments, and there's a further third large freezer outside in the outhouse. We found this very handy with there being 6 of us. Also in the outhouse was a washing machine and dryer. The view was very picturesque, to add to the view was the animals of the farm. There was a few chickens and Ducks that would roam free in the garden which I thought was lovely. Also a short walk up the garden near a barn was a large trampoline and swing set. I definitely want to come and visit here again, we all really enjoyed our stay.

A beautiful barn conversion finished to a very high standard set in a beautiful location. Comfortably accommodated 5 adults and 2 children. Good sized rooms, equipped with everything you could possibly need for a perfect stay. The welcoming hosts left fresh eggs, homemade scones, clotted cream and jam for our arrival. The chickens and ducks which wandered freely around the grounds kept our children entertained. There was also a trampoline and swing in a nearby field which would be great for older kids. Highly recommended - it was just a shame we had to come home!

An absolutely stunning cottage set on a beautiful farm overlooking the fields. As soon as we entered the cottage, everybody kept saying wow! Every room was beautifully decorated and very thoughtfully organised to cater fully to the needs of the occupants. All the four bed rooms were spacious and the lounge was huge. The owners were very helpful and pleasant. We certainly would be going back to spend some of our holidays.

The Barn was very clean and well appointed. The accommodation was flexible and suited us very well as a mixed age family group, having a downstairs bathroom and bedroom was handy. There were many thoughtful touches and good facilities in the property. The owners live nearby and were friendly and helpful. The location is well placed to visit West Devon, East Cornwall and the coast. There is a lot to see and do within easy reach.

Was in Devon for sad reasons, but booking this barn made it a little easier. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, the barn has been decorated to a very high standard and comfortably fits 8 people. It was in the perfect location for us, not too far from other family. Great views, and animals roaming round past the window. Will defiantly return.

Barn was finished to a high standard, good sized accommodation and very well equipped. The large living and dining areas provided plenty of room for all of us to spend time together without feeling the need for more space. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. It is even suitable for wheelchair users , having a beautiful downstairs bedroom, a wet room and a gentle slope up to the main living areas.
