On arrival, the recycling bin (situated at the front gate) was overflowing with items on the path (we appreciate that waste collections are out of owners control) but this was not a great impression.. Overall we found the cottage unwelcoming; the decor looks very dated and tired. Floor furnishings had seen ‘better days’.....particularly the bath and toilet mats. The bedroom door of the twin room was not attached to the doorframe at the top hinge, so moving the door was precarious ......not an acceptable standard. Unfortunately, our overall impression of the cottage was that it did not feel clean. The local pub, within 10mins walking distance was the saving grace.....welcoming staff and great food. Dog friendly as well.

A lovely quirky cottage in a small Somerset village.. We loved staying there. Really enjoyed the log fires, the quietness and darkness of the village at night, great walks and the Red Lion pub just up the road. The cottage is very small, (I banged my head 3 times) and the stairs extremely steep. It is tired and desperately needs redecorating.

The house could do with decorating in places such as window frames, bits of ceiling, the gate and the front door to make it more appealing when going in..

Delightful cottage.. Cosy, warm and well maintained. Obviously a much loved family home than a simple rental. Had a wonderful time with great walks which our springer spaniel loved. Nights in front of a roaring fire. What is there not too like. Sally, Mike and Bracken

This is our 3rd visit to this cottage.. It's a lovely cottage but over the 4yrs we have been it has gone down hill. Although inside is still clean the gardens have been left to run wild. The garden table had gone rusty with one of the legs broken and being held up by a flower pot with a rock inside . The photos that you have for this cottage is so out of date. On our first visit 4yrs ago the bottom stair was broken and it still is. Also my husband had to mend the front door lock. It's such a shame this lovely little cottage really is in need of some TLC. Will not be going back again.

This is our second time at woodforde cottage, it is a cosy and delightful character cottage.. The village of Babcary is scenic and very quiet and peaceful. In Babcary there are wonderful wildflower meadows these are a 10 mins walk from the cottage. Flowers are out in the summer but it is still great to have walk there, we never met anyone on the walks and went in September and March. The local Inn Red Lion serves delicious food and is a traditional and elegant inn. We have both enjoyed our stay and our dog has too, at this quaint cottage. The cottage has all the necessary essentials and a delightful front garden where all the wild birds visit to feed on the bird feeders. We always ensure we leave seed and peanuts for the next visitors as previous visitors have done. Glastonbury is half hour drive, RSPB Hamwall 1/2 hour, Glenda Spooner 15 mins and Chesil beach a little further. These are a few super places to visit. It is a central location to visit most attractions that Somerset has to offer and further afield.

Lovely little cottage that takes you back in time. Just the 2 of us and our 2 dogs and we loved it. Everything you could want was there including broadband that was just great. Very clean and well equipped. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of a shower but otherwise it would have had 5 stars without hesitation. It was so quirky and a welcome retreat after a busy day discovering new places. Well placed for National Trust properties and the Haynes Car Museum is a must. Would return anytime.

The owner had provided kindling, logs and coal for the fire which we enjoyed. The cottage had plenty of hot water, and was clean, and in a good condition. The kitchen was very well equipped, and we made good use of it. We loved the village, and the neighbours were very friendly and helpful. We had a great time.

Great little cottage, close to pub (good food, poor choice of beer) and well located for a good variety of days out. Owners were flexible and accommodating, the booking process was easy and the cottage had everything we needed.

We are from Australia and loved being able to stay in a cottage in an English village, something we have wanted to do for a long time. This cottage was very comfortable, very cosy and everything in it worked beautifully. I enjoyed cooking our breakfast each morning on the Neff cooktop in a very lovely and well set up kitchen. We loved being able to walk down to the local Red Lion pub each evening for dinner - I think they were beginning to think we had moved in! We went to Babcary to follow up some family history which we were able to do at the local church and also by talking to some of the older locals in the village. Apart from that, the cottage is in a good spot for sightseeing. We managed to go to Glastonbury, Yeovilton and Montacute in the few days we had.

We found Babcary a great central point for visiting lots of places in Somerset, Dorset and eastern Devonshire. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Kitchen and bath have been upgraded although a shower attachment in the bath would be nice. The village is very picturesque and quiet.

A very clean and accommodating cottage with a 'homely' feel about it. The Red Lion local pub was very friendly, serving nice food. A trip to Cheddar Gorge is highly recommended and is not too far to travel. If we went to Somerset we would use the cottage again. Thank you.
