Formerly a small fishing village, the charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands boasts ornamental gardens, a a traffic-free promenade, golf courses, brass band concerts and opportunities for cycling, walking and bird watching. In close proximity are Lake Windermere, the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, as well as a number of notable attractions including Levens Hall, with its famous topiary gardens, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, Conishead Priory, and Sizergh Castle.
