Shower does not work and is leaking and pushes out a warm trickle at best. Contacted the owner who didn’t bother to reply. Plumbing all round in poor state. Dark and dingy in kitchen and could not prepare a meal after the sun has gone down. Embarrassingly neglected and in need of care.

On arrival at the property it was quite obvious to us that there were no curtains or a blind in the very large downstairs front window that looked out on to the footpath that led to all the other properties around ours.. This meant that by 6pm each evening the very bright orange security lights outside the property shone through our front windows and spotlighted us trying to have a quiet time in our front room. There was a clear view into the property for all and sundry to gawp in! It was exceedingly uncomfortable and as a result my wife telephoned the owner, Mr Monaghan, and asked about the lack of any window covering. Eventually he admitted that he was aware of the lack of window covering and that he would come over and provide a blanket to cover the window. This would have had to have been a very big blanket! Were you aware that there was no window covering in that room? How often do you inspect the properties on your books to make sure they are up to standard? She also asked him why there was a complete absence of Wi-fi in the property. His answer was that there has never been Wi-fi in the property in the past. He said that if we went over to the bar in the hotel part of Ireton Hall we could pick up (piggy-back!) their supply enough to satisfy our needs. In this day and age that was not an adequate answer. We are telling you about this problem in the hope that all efforts will be made by the owner of the property to sort it out.

There was no curtain a or blind on the front window so people on the path just outside could see in The king size mattress has been made up with a stanard double sheet which came off.. We had to spend a morning driving up to Workington to buy a sheet that fitted.

The booking process was very straightforward and the app is very easy to use.. It was particularly nice having the countdown to our holiday always to hand. Once at William Court Cottage, most things were to hand and fittings were of a high standard for a holiday let, particularly in its price range. The information leaflets were rather out of date and there were no books; phone signals were weak but we expected this. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the pellet stove for drying out clothes on several wet days (last week in August, so expected!).

William court cottage is very homely and set in lovely grounds.. The cottage had everything we needed. There is lots of waliking nearby, with Wastwater only about 15 min drive which is highly recomended for a visit. From the cottage you can walk to the bar in Irton Hall in about 1 min which is really nice. A walk of about a mile takes you to the Bridge Inn which has great beer and food. Do try the tea room down the road for a coffee and a cake, very nice. A great location and a lovely cottage

We would have used the BBQ - but it was right at the back of the cupboard.. Behind and under all sorts of junk - a travel cot, but also pots of paint, etc etc - and we really couldn’t be bothered! At least I think it was the BBQ. Couldn’t really see. The wifi went down two days before the end, which was a nuisance. Otherwise all was lovely, and I would be happy to return.

Good accommodation with washing machine, however, there was no clothes rack to hang the washing to dry.. Also, a pair of kitchen scissors would have been helpful. Wifi was an unexpected bonus!

Disappointed that the house was not actually part of Irton Hall so they were not over helpful once they found out you were from Sykes! !! Really disappointed that the PEACOCKS, GEESE & COCKERELL were not mentioned in the write up and that they can be outside your window at 4.00 in the morning!!!! Workers dogs allowed to run around the property, 2 collies, when all dogs are supposed to be on leads at all times, one tried to bite me twice when I shooed it away from our dog, very worrying and scary!!! A case of check around first before you take your dog out? Is it safe and they are not running free? Mrs Harris would not venture outside without me.... that's not good! !! Extremly disappointed as this is the only holiday I will get and wildfowl woke me up at 4.00 on more than one occasion and one dog rule for holiday makers and another for the owner of the two collies??? These dogs were intimidating and no one seemed bothered.... let's hope your bothered??? Would not recommend this venue at all under these circumstances, I feel totally mislead. Overall cleanliness was ok but a good dust around would not go a miss plus glasses with cracks and chips in are not good?

Near Gosforth, Wastwater district of the lakes. the weather was very mixed when we arrived but the cottage itself was inviting and comfortable. Many gadgets available in kitchen, I found it home from home. great to have a dishwasher and washing machine which we used a lot. Used the woodburning stove in the evenings when it was a bit chilly and the downstairs area warmed up a treat. Bathroom lovely but the taps on the bath were a bit dangerous, they were loose and the hot water meant it was very difficult to turn tap on or off without burning hands, I used a towel to do this.

There was no reply to the 'phone calls made prior to arriving to confirm times etc.. On arrival I tried again to check which cottage as there was no name on the door, only to find the numbers were not receiving calls.

The cottage was very comfortable but our daughters were always on the look out for wifi and would regularly go across to Irton hall for this..

Just a concern over the use of blinds in the smaller bedroom where young .... Just a concern over the use of blinds in the smaller bedroom where young children sleep, the tap in the bathroom for the bath needs fixing too and the washing machine door was broken, but my Husband managed to open it still for use but needs looking at, other wise a fantastic cottage and full of well thought out equipment, lovely location, the woodlands tea rooms was a great find, Muncaster castle is worth the visit, had a fab family holiday and would highly recommend this area and this cottage

We came back because it was so good! The location is excellent for accessing the fells and the coast road alike! And the cottage has been immaculate each time we've stayed. The key security box system is convenient too.

This cottage was in the perfect surroundings, being so close to the hotel was very convenient and the staff and food there were great. The living room area was well decorated and equipped while the kitchen was very well equipped with good quality utensils. The bed was very comfortable and the bath was probably the deepest one I have ever been in.

THE COTTAGE The cottage was reasonably clean and attractively furnished and equipped. We did have the turn the mattress, as it was sunken at one end. The kitchen would benefit from improved lighting. A plumber needs to provide attention to the bathroom where taps would rotate on the units. Although a washing machine was provided there was no means of hanging clothes to dry, which is an oversight. LOCATION This was not what we expected. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing Lake District location then we would not recommend it. The cottage is one of many properties on an estate situate close together and next to a busy hotel. During our stay, we had to suffer outdoor live bands playing on the hotel lawn. Nonetheless, you do have freedom to roam the grounds which was a benefit when having small child.

Having stayed away from the Lakes because we felt that the area was going to be crowded out with visitors we were delighted to find that the Western side is a far and fairly secluded place. Irton Is a great base and the accommodation is fine (but for goodness sake sort out the taps - kitchen, bathroom and sink). The wood pellet boiler heats the house really well and the kitchen is well equipped. Irton Hall is a bit whacky (William Court is privately owned) - the bar/restaurant; part of the hotel, is populated by business people but the food is OK. Might be better to check out both the Wasdale pubs. BUT this is a great place for great walks away from the crowd. There's an amazing route to Skafell from Eskdale where you'll probably not meet a soul until the summit and then gaze across to to nearby peak of Skafell Pike and see the masses that have walked up from the Eastern side. Wasdale is marvellous and the mountains to the North are all most rewarding. BEWARE - the bad manners of the people, that work at the nuclear power station; Sellafield, every day from about 4pm they rat-run their way home in a North Easterly direction across the countryside. On a narrow country road we met over 150 vehicles in a 10 mile stretch from Calder Bridge to Ennerdale Bridge - never met such headlong rude driving. They are a discredit to an otherwise lovely area.

Lovely, comfortable cottage, quiet location, just what we were looking for.

October 2014
The property had wood floor through the ground floor which was easy to clean, and the washing machine in the property helped manage a weeks washing. The king size bed and master bedroom were spacious with really good sized wardrobe. The wood burner was a bonus in the evening. The property was in a great setting with restaurant and bar and a safe site for dogs being able to walk straight out onto the grounds and woodland.

Irton Hall is in a quiet relaxing location with a good on site bar and restaurant. Lovely cottage with well equipped kitchen and bathroom but perhaps in need of a repaint in some areas and a check of the taps especially in the kitchen. There is no private garden area but plenty of space to walk your dog within the grounds.

The accommodation was very comfortable especially the beds. I often have difficulty feeling comfortable away form home so this was most welcome. The area was fantastic. I loved my holiday and would certainly like to come back to the same area and accommodation.

Do you know this was the first time I'd been to Cumbria and saw the top of the hill from the bottom. Our week started in rain and in deed finished the same. But the bit in the middle was beautiful. I guess you want to hear more about the cottage. A very smart cottage which was big enough for the two of us and our dog Jake. Good quality furniture, kitchen and bathroom. I do hope they have fixed the wobbly taps. Lovely location with a short walk to Irton Hall which is busy but great if you want a beer or can't be bothered to cook. Nice walk on peaceful roads to the pub and Santon. Lots of nice places to visit like Ravenglass. Don't bother with Millom. Liekd it so much would go next year.

Stayed here with a family member for a week in August and found it delightful: we were looking for a peaceful, restful stay and that is exactly what we received. The cottage was spotless with all necessary equipment and facilities - we found it welcoming and comfortable. The location, although much further from the M6 than we had expected in terms of time, was beautiful and ideally placed for visiting the coast as well as Wastwater and Eskdale. We enjoyed the opportunity to use the hotel bar where the food was plentiful as well as the very pleasant Woodlands tea room in the nearby village where delicious meals are available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I fully intend to book again in the near future,

-Easy to find. -Fantastic location. -Bar on site and great local pubs with wonderful food and famous walking faces! -Well equipped cottage but could do with the lounge seating being made more 'comfortable/cosy' and a dressing table in the main bedroom. -All in all a great cottage for the money.

The cottage was well appointed and it looked as though we were the first ever visitors from the paintwork and utensils. The main problem was finding which one it was when we arrived in the dark as there was no sign outside and nobody to ask. We eventually worked tried 2 keysafes and found the correct one! Apart from that we had a great week.
