Stayed for a week immediately after lockdown. Bottle of wine on the table for us, that didn't last long. View out the back is great, you can actually see Riber Castle away to the left above Matlock. The accomodation for 2 is excellent, wifi is very intermittent, but that is a small thing. Pub with great food and beer just down the road. Loads of walks around with National Trust and English Heritage sites in easy reach by car, just don't be in a rush down the lanes. Even with current restrictions Kedleston Hall and Bolsover Castle are worth a visit. Tram museum close by in Crich as well.

The cottage was delightful,so fresh and clean.. We had everything needed for our stay and we settled in stress free. The farm was in the most idilic spot with traffic noise unnoticed which was a welcome change for us . We had everything we needed in the area close bye from shops to places of interest but it was the walking we will remember which we never tired of. Watching a calf being born and keeping track of its progress will stay with us for ever. The best stay and can't wait to return again.

This is a brilliant little place to stay - quiet, peaceful, warm, well equiped and fresh free range eggs from the friendly chukkies outside.. Unlike many farm locations this is clean with no pongs or mud to wipe from your feet.

We loved our long weekend at Wigwell Barn.. We received a lovely warm welcome from the owners on arriving. The barn was spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and just like home from home. The scenery from the window was just amazing and so was the peace and quiet, we enjoyed lots of walks around the area. We visited Chatsworth House for the Christmas event, which was only 12 miles away. The house and gardens were fabulous and well worth a visit. We also visited Cromford Mill and Wirksworth. Both Chatsworth and Cromford were dog friendly. We would not hesitate to stay at Wigwell Barn again and our dog enjoyed it too.

A really lovely area to stay and was great to be able to bring our 10 month old kitten on honeymoon with us.. He really enjoyed the big windowsill in the lounge but wasn't a fan of how windy it could get when taken out for walks on his lead.

Excessive promotional emails following booking.. these could be reduced to make greater impact. Not all were read and most deleted without much thought.

Our second stay at this cottage.. It's still as clean and comfortable as we remembered it. The cottage is dog friendly and in a great location. The owners are friendly and welcoming and we would highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing holiday.

Couldn't have chosen a better cottage for our holiday.. Delightful, tasteful decor and furnishings - and really well and thoughtfully equipped. Felt at home immediately.. The agency photos simply don't do it justice! The views across the valley, from the lounge and garden are truly stunning. You feel you're away from it all, yet the wonderful historic town of Whitworth, with a good selection of shops and eating places, is is only a few minutes drive away. Loads of fabulous places to visit, under a half hour drive away. (And it is genuinely dog friendly!) Can't wait to return!

This an excellent cottage to stay in with the added bonus of being dog friendly. Fantastic peaceful location in the countryside, surrounded by fields. The facilities in the cottage are first class, everything you could want and need, including a very kind welcome gift of a bottle of wine, biscuits and treats for the dog from our hosts. We spent the week walking and there are lots of places to visit nearby. A beautiful part of the country which we thoroughly enjoyed . Will definately book again when holidaying in this part of the country.

A comfortable and welcoming cottage in beautiful countryside. A very quiet location, yet close to all amenities. Had friendly and helpful owners. A perfect area for walking with or without a dog, however if you do take a dog, many pubs and tourist attractions are dog friendly. The closest pub to the cottage was probably the most dog friendly pub I have ever been in, at one point there were more dogs than people! More of a drinking pub rather than eating, but locals were very friendly and welcoming.
