August 2020
Had a fantastic break at Wharf Cottage.. Gorgeous views and so peaceful. Really was a lovely quiet break which is what we all needed. We will definitely be booking Wharf Cottage again. We felt so comfortable and relaxed - even our Golden Retrievers loved it. They have sulked since we came home!!

The cottage was very nice and comfortable but would of liked to of been made aware that it was quite close to a busy train line.. Some of the items in the cottage could do with replacing ie broken table in the lounge.
Mrs Reed, August 2020
July 2020
Having the canal right next to the cottage was amazing as the kids were able to do a lot of fishing..

Fabulous cottage! Fabulous location! Absolutely loved our time here, and will definitely return to do it all again. The dogs had a wonderful time too. The only problem was having to come home.

Had a good week in this really nice cottage very close to motorway not a problem, but a little road noise.. Very good for wildlife swans rabbits ducks and birds, free logs a bonus. Maybe a half pint of milk in the fridge would be welcome after a long trip
March 2019
This is our second visit to Wharf Cottage, we really love the cottage and the beautiful views of the canal and surrounding countryside.. The cottage has everything you could need and the log burner is a fabulous addition on chilly evenings. Lots of walks along the canal, both ways and if you need the shops, Carnforth has a number of supermarkets. Our two labs enjoy the walks from the cottage and we will certainly return. We highly recommend Wharf Cottage.

We had a great Christmas at this lovely cottage as did our dogs.. A real Christmas tree was supplied which made it all the better with it's wonderful smell, thanks for that. The local wildlife gave us some great displays every day especially the swans. It's in a great position to explore the Lake District and northern Lancashire. The King's Arms in the village is great with freshly made food and a good variety of real ales and gins. The locals were very friendly too, we even got asked back. The local shop seems to stock everything you'd need and is open late. Can definitely recommend this property and we'd love to go back some time

This is a superb cottage! This is the third time that we have visited and we've had an enjoyable break every time. Even our dog loves it - the rabbits, of course, were placed there specially for her entertainment!

August 2018
Wharf Cottage is a fantastic cottage.. Lovely and spacious, and quiet, even though the M6 is within sight you can only just hear it. My son loved the fact there was a train line so he could watch the trains. Whether you sit in the kitchen or lounge the views were beautiful, I could have stayed in all day. Loved seeing the swans and ducks along with all the other birds too everyday. Comfy beds and sofas, which always make the stay better. Good location to get about and various eateries around, Lakeland Hotel was my favourite, and the local pubs provided good food also.
Miss Hunt

July 2018
We had a fantastic time at this cottage.. Location is perfect for exploring the lakes but plenty right on your doorstep. Canal towpath perfect for walking our dog and walks along to Smithy Pub - (Holme) were a joy as were the refreshments and the walk back. Village itself perfect great pub(dog friendly) and butchers excellent for supplies. Overall we were a couple with a dog and loved the week/relaxing great walks and plenty to keep us active in the area. Would return in a heartbeat and plan to do so... Thanks again Wharf Cottage....... DP/JP and Harley the Labradoodle.(Apologies to all the chased-but not caught Rabbits She had the time of her life.)

We had a relaxed week in a most beautiful cottage .. with almost everything you could wish for. The swans and the ducks came past to show us their babies. The cottage was easily accessible from the M6 and within easy driving distance for a lot of the lake district. We hope to come back as soon as we can.

January 2018
Fabulous location, love the cottage it was spotlessly clean on arrival and it’s great to be able to wind down without having the technology of WiFi to distract you, being able to sit relax and enjoy what’s around you is amazing.. Loved walking the dogs along the canal path.

December 2017
Came to this cottage in November and likes it so much booked again for Christmas.. I loved the solitude but everything was so near that you had the best of both worlds. Visited Leighton Moss bird reserve and surrounding areas. Ate out in local pubs The Smithy being the most friendly and welcoming it is on the way to Holm about 10 minutes away. They really made a fuss of our 2 little dogs. I found the Kings Arms in the Village very unfriendly towards dogs and the staff quit miserable considering it was Christmas. ( This is my only complaint ) Visited Morecambe beach several times and enjoyed the walk along the promenade. The beach café at the end served delicious food and coffee and is very dog friendly. A lovely cottage would certainly visit again.
Ms Curry
November 2017
The location was amazing very peaceful with lots of wildlife around if you just sit and watch.. A weasel was having great fun on the lawn in front of the house. Saw the kingfisher cormorants, swans, a variety of ducks which I have yet to name. Well equipped cottage and plenty of space. Have booked again for Christmas which says it all really.
June 2017
Lovely location on a now unnavigable section of the Lancaster to Kendal canal lots of wildlife on your doorstep literaly. (woke up to rabbits on the doorstep several times & Swans & Cygnets at the wharf).Great views from the kitchen and upstairs bedrooms. Great base for exploring the lakes., Very peaceful and no immediate neighbours. Visited for a family holiday with our adult son and daugter and their respective partners plus our 6 month old grandaughter and our dog. Local Butcher in Burton very good. Aldi Booths and Tesco supermarkets a short drive away. Good local walks along the canal tow path. Cottage well equiped and very clean. Only downside was that the washing machine was not working. Very prompt response by the owner via phone & text but problem not fixed before we left which was a bit of a pain when we had a 6 month old and all the attendant washing that brings, plus most of the adults had only packed 3 daysworth of clothes. we particularly appreciated the loosleaf file of lakeland walks in the kitchen very useful plus the maps All things considered realy nice place to stay. We'd recommend it.
Mrs Talbot

July 2015
This cottage is a real gem! Beautifully situated next to a disused canal and not another soul nearby. It was quiet, clean, splendidly appointed and well equipped. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to anyone - in or out of season. Our dog loved it there!

July 2015
Wharf Cottage is superb, in every sense! It sits, alone, on a now unnavigable section of the Lancaster Canal, with beautiful views all round. Peace and tranquillity reign here - sitting on the terrace, overlooking the canal, on a balmy summer's evening was bliss. And yet the cottage is very accessible to the M6, the A6 and other routes to many beautiful areas within Lancs/Cumbria. Wharf Cottage is comfortable, homely, well-equipped and fantastic for a visit at any time of the year. It is warm and cosy, the shelves are lined with books and useful information about the area, and there are cupboards full of board games. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday accommodation ... just book it!!
Mrs James
May 2015

November 2014
This was a lovely, comfortable cottage with a nice mix of a rural feel and an easy accessible location. We felt very much at home at once. The canal side location and wonderful views were a treat every morning. There are lots of good things to see and do with young children. We would definitely rent the cottage again.
August 2014
We have stayed at Wharf cottage on 4.occasions with our two grown up sons and other friends. Each time it feels like coming home to a cosy country cottage. Everything you need is here the location is just amazing and so convenient for the motorway though you wouldn't know it !! I am sure we will be back we all love it so much and the dog loves it too !.

The cottage was lovely and well kept. It was a lovely setting. We, as a group, really liked the cottage and would go again. Given that we were coming from different areas to meet up, the parking for 4-5 cars came in very useful.

The cottage had history and character and a great location which made our stay the peaceful retreat we wished for with the added bonus of the opportunity to enjoy wonderful free range eggs.
December 2012
Beautiful and very well equipped cottage in an idyllic location - peaceful and private but not miles from anywhere. Surrounded by ducks, chickens, swans, rabbits, birds and various wildlife yet with a private, safe area for any kids/dogs. It really is a lovely place to stay, we loved it. We don't usually go anywhere twice but will make an exception for Wharf Cottage.

Mrs Collinson
October 2012
The location was simply stunning and the cottage beautiful, very well equipped, comfortable and very clean. The communication was top rate and the information within the cottage was very good too.
September 2012
I would highly recommend this cottage, we loved every minute of it and will certainly book again in the future. It was close enough to local amenities at the same time as being away from it all. The motorway is nearby however we barely noticed it even sat outside. The information given by the owners was all very good and although there was a lot to go through it was all worth knowing. It felt like we were at home whilst there and we didn't want to leave. I can't really say enough to explain how happy we were during our stay.
Miss Smith
August 2012

June 2012
We loved everything about the cottage, we felt very at home there and we thought it was brilliant that two dogs were allowed. The owner sent us a lot of information before we went and it was very helpful, we appreciated it a lot. We can't really express quite how much we loved it.
Mr Read
June 2012
The cottage was everything we wanted for our holiday. The wildlife along the canal was superb as was the antics of the young wild rabbits in the yard. Secluded but not isolated, an ideal location for visiting the whole of the Lake District.
Mr Santillo
April 2012
Great location for both the Lakes and the Dales. Lovely cottage with panoramic views.
January 2012
We received excellent directions and information about the cottage from the owner prior to our holiday. The cottage is very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The woodburner was so cosy and easy to use. The location is so peaceful and the scenery is gorgeous with the swans on the canal and the pretty patio garden to sit and take in the views. The bed was very comfortable too!! I would not hesitate to reccommend this cottage to family and friends.
January 2012
great service when booking, very easy online .the cottage is in a great location, very peaceful right on the canal, dogs enjoyed walks from the doorstep.the only downside was the cottage needs decorating and could do with better furniture as the seating is quite uncomfortable after a few hours reading.

September 2011
Well it was that good we have booked for 2012! So peaceful, with everything we needed. On the whole, what a cottage. The children loved helping with the chickens and duck and they were rewarded with eggs! The cottage is in a great place to reach everywhere, just a short drive to other places. The views were amazing and the dog was free in the grounds.
September 2011
A beautiful spot.Although only minutes from the motorway making access to the lakes easy, the cottage is situated far enough from the roads so that once there you feel that you are in the heart of the countryside. The owner leaves plenty of information and the cottage itself is very homely and comfortable. We tried to book it again for later in the year, but it was unavailable - so book early to avoid disappointment!
Mr Furlong
August 2011
Peace, quiet and lovely views - a wonderful cottage! Great food at the Smithy Inn and Hulme is only five minutes away.
Mrs Smith
June 2011
The position of the cottage was lovely. The views and general area were beautiful. Easy access to the tow-path for dog walking. Proximity of motorway made access to other areas easy, but in no way affected the tranquility of the setting as it is not visible and bearly audible. As soon as we got home we looked to see if it was available again later this year, but unfortunately it wasn't. Will no doubt try for it again next year.
Mrs Owen
April 2011
We all enjoyed our holiday from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. There was everything you needed in the cottage and the games helped to occupy the young ones in the evenings.

The property was clearly furnished with a view to comfort. It was refreshing to stay somewhere where the property feels loved and cared for rather than just a means to generate income. The location was peaceful yet central for travelling about and the area had a great deal to offer. A wonderful holiday which we hope to repeat next year.
