Holiday home
Westwing is a comfortable, self-contained cottage (part of owner's detached property) set on the owner's farming land, one mile from the village of Yoxall in Staffordshire. With one double bedroom with en-suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe, this cottage sleeps two people. There's also a kitchen with breakfast bar, a shared utility and a sitting room with a gas fire and dining area. Outside is a shared utility room plus off road parking for one car and a shared lawned garden with patio, furniture and pond. Westwing provides couples with a cosy, country hideaway from which to explore the beauty of this rural area.

Accommodation on the first floor is accessed by stairs to one double bedroom. One double bedroom with TV and en-suite shower, basin and WC. Kitchen with breakfast bar. Sitting room with dining area and gas fire.

Area
Yoxall is a bustling little village set beside the River Swarbourn in the heart of Staffordshire. Settled just nine miles from both Burton upon Trent and Lichfield, Yoxall boasts a wonderful array of amenities including an excellent local butcher, deli, Post Office and two good pubs serving food, and completing this Staffordshire picture village is the pretty parish church.

The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

This is a perfect base for touring Staffordshire & Derbyshire.. We were welcomed by Pauline and Stuart, who could not have been more helpful and friendly. Westwing is perfectly sized and equipped for couples to relax and enjoy a break. Furniture, fixtures and fittings are top quality and the property is clean and feels 'Covid-ready' for visitors. We would highly recommend this property.

The owners were so friendly and helpful.. They put so much thought into proving everything you could possibly need to ensure a happy comfortable holiday. This was the third cottage we have rented from Sykes this year and the standard of accommodation is excellent, they are all very clean well equipped and comfortable and the owners seem to go out of their way to make their guests stay a happy one. Also I had found the staff extremely helpful when I have spoken to them as I had to about this holiday. They went the extra mile for me so Thank you. We have already started looking at next year.

The cottage was the best I’ve stayed in, in a long time.. . very comfortable, clean with all the facilities required to make it feel like home away from home. The owners are lovely people who go the extra mile to make your visit special. They left us bottles of wine, chocolates biscuits, milk, freshly laid eggs, and being Halloween week, Pauline, the landlady gave us some Halloween cupcakes! We would have loved to stay longer but we could only stay 4 nights. We may have wanted to be much nearer to the Peak District, but everything else exceeded our expectations. Definitely going back.

I should mention that the cottage was very restful with no traffic noise and with a rural outlook of sheep and chickens without being out in the wilds, just an easy mile from an A-road.. Add to that the most friendly owners onsite that we found in years of regular cottaging.

From key collection to departure we were bowled over by the sheer professionalism of our hosts Pauline and Stuart.. The cottage was immaculate and Pauline and Stuart were attentive but unobtrusive. They had thought of everything we could have asked for (and more), milk in the fridge, tea bags, coffee and even fresh eggs from their own hens! The accommodation was spotless and the garden was serene, just what we needed for our week long break. My wife put it perfectly when we were returning from one of our excursions, her comment to me was, 'it's just like coming home'. Enough said! Would we recommend their cottage, without a doubt. Westwing is an exceptional cottage in a peaceful location, spacious & spotlessly presented, very well equipped, comfortably furnished , & with beautiful gardens to share with the owners.. Pauline & Stuart are very kind & friendly hosts, who welcomed us with a generous welcome pack, including 6 new laid eggs from the resident chickens. For us, the location was excellent for exploring NT properties, the must see National Memorial Arboretum, Dovedale & Ilam in the Peak District, Fradley junction & Barton Marina. on the Canals. Lots more places to visit on another occasion. We hope very much to return later on, because we were so happy & relaxed at Westwing.

The cottage was as described and the hosts, Pauline and Stuart, were superb.. They met us at the gate and gave us a great welcome before showing us around the cottage. The also had provided a can of milk, 6 free range eggs(their own chickens), and a host of little treats. The cottage was ideally situated for our needs, close to the village and with easy access to Lichfield, The National Arboretum, Cannock Chase, Calke Abbey, and other places of interest. There were also walks to enjoy and room to relax in the garden and extensive grounds.

The owners were very friendly and welcoming. It was exactly how it was described. Very clean, homely. We felt as if we had known the owners all our life. We loved to see the chickens running free, it was so peaceful and the local birds, goldfinches, blue tits and even the woodpecker made an appearance. A very relaxing holiday. One of the very best holiday homes we have stayed in and we have been all over the country in the last 30 years. The owners are lovely people and give the warmest of welcomes. The West Wing of their own property is a perfect self contained home from home containing everything you could wish for. It is situated just outside the pretty village of Yoxall in a lovely setting and is within easy reach of all of the attractions which Staffordshire and the Peaks have to offer. Awesome! I don't know where start to be honest. We were welcomed by the owners on arrival who then explained everything we needed to know. The house was beautiful and clean. The highlight for me was the bed, I actually asked the owner where I could buy this model off bed and then placed an order online. Oh how can I forget the eggs left by the owners, I had to ask for more to take home. Overall the home was amazing and will be booking again for the summer.

This is truly a home from home and more. Pauline and Stuart are the consumate hosts, warm, inviting, friendly, knowledgable and non intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they make you feel completely comfortable. The accommodation is 5* - spotlessly clean, exceptionally well equipped and supremely comfortable. This is a place you do not want to leave. It is situated in a stunning location at the edge of the Peak District with easy access to villages and towns. Highly, highly recommended.
