Area
Facing the hills of Southern Galloway and backed by the Lake District Fells, the popular seaside resort of Silloth in Cumbria's Western Lakes and Coast sits on the shores of the Solway Firth. Well known for its mild but invigorating climate, its leisurely pace of life, tranquil atmosphere and glorious sunsets and sea views and sunsets, Silloth is a fine holiday destination. Originally built in the late 19th Century to accommodate a port, the creative development of the area is evident in its elegant tree lined streets, extensive sea front and impressive promenade which stretches towards Skinburness. There are 36 acres of open grassland known as "The Green" in the town centre, and a championship golf course overlooks the edge of the town. The scenic Cumbria Coastal Walk runs along the coastline, and there are also superb birdwatching opportunities here. Venture a little further afield for the breathtaking landscape and attractions of the Lake District.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

We have had a lovely holiday at West Croft.. The property is spacious, immaculately clean, very well equipped, warm, and extremely comfortable. There is a short 10 minute stroll to the beach, where you will find miles of sand, dunes, and hardly any other person. This is a perfect place to find peace and quiet and enjoy a comfortable, relaxing break. A short drive and you’ll find restaurants and major shops in Workington or Whitehaven, or 30 minutes in the car you’ll be in Cockermouth and the lakes. We’ve had a great time, and will certainly look to book again and return to West Croft.

Had a fabulous relaxing break.. The cottage is fantastic, spacious, extremely clean and very well equipped with everything you need and more. The only downside was that there was no gates on the beautiful garden just a cattle grid at the bottom which our dog kept escaping over! We ended up having to tie him up when we were sat in the garden to avoid him injuring himself. There is a fully enclosed yard for the dog out the back. Other than this we could not fault the place. Pure peace and quiet and the owners were lovely too, would recommend 100%!

A truely great house, we felt really spoiled living here for the week.. Excellent location, despite the road closure between Allonby and Silloth (causing all traffic passing our bungalow). A good starting point for our explorations in the Lake district! We had a lovely week in Mawbray, Thank you Kathleen.

West croft is an extremely roomy, well situated cottage.. It is very clean and comfortable. All the beds were very comfortable and quality linens. The views from the cottage are lovely. Not too far to walk to the quiet beach. We would definitely recommend this cottage to a family and would rent again if we needed a larger cottage

This house was said to be dog friendly but when we got there there was a sign saying no dogs in bedroom which is fine alot do that but there was also one saying no dogs on furniture either which is fine when we are awake we can stop them from going on the chairs but ment at bedtime we had to close the living room door and bedroom doors which left him in the hallway all night so with all the door closed on my dog we could not hear if he needs to go out for a wee at night so we was up and down all night to try and make sure he did not leave a mess .. Also the bedroom doors do not close properly so if he pushed it it would come open so had to put bags by the door on the inside of the bedrooms so he could not get in. A lovely house but I think it should not have said it was dog friendly so many more houses that are far more pet friendly and I have stayed in many of them .

Spacious and comfortable cottage with everything provided you could possibly need.. Three spacious bedrooms & a large sitting room meant it was airy and light. Very, very clean and lots of lovely little extras too. A perfect location for us, who have a small dog, because it has a secure garden, a quiet country lane to walk him down plus it's only a few minutes to the coast, where you can walk miles along the sand dunes. Lovely cottage and location - we will certainly be coming again soon!

A fantastic property for a family holiday, in a nice quiet location. If you like talking to cows and chasing rabbits around sand dunes you can't go wrong. This property is easily big enough for 6 adults. There were only the two of us and the two dogs for a quick break but we really enjoyed the house and the area. The village has a great looking children's playground right in middle of it and it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the sand dunes, beach and the sea. The walk along the sand and dunes is fantastic and full off wildlife. It has really easy to access all the lovely coastal areas around and all the other Lake District stuff too.
