Mrs Sykes, July 2020
We have had a lovely holiday at West Croft.. The property is spacious, immaculately clean, very well equipped, warm, and extremely comfortable. There is a short 10 minute stroll to the beach, where you will find miles of sand, dunes, and hardly any other person. This is a perfect place to find peace and quiet and enjoy a comfortable, relaxing break. A short drive and you’ll find restaurants and major shops in Workington or Whitehaven, or 30 minutes in the car you’ll be in Cockermouth and the lakes.
We’ve had a great time, and will certainly look to book again and return to West Croft.
Mr Hughes, July 2020

Mr Thompson, February 2020
Amazing view of Lake District from this lovely well appointed cottage.. Very clean and comfortable. Ideal base for touring Solway Coast. Lots there to enjoy.
Mrs Cowan, October 2019
Had a fabulous relaxing break.. The cottage is fantastic, spacious, extremely clean and very well equipped with everything you need and more. The only downside was that there was no gates on the beautiful garden just a cattle grid at the bottom which our dog kept escaping over! We ended up having to tie him up when we were sat in the garden to avoid him injuring himself. There is a fully enclosed yard for the dog out the back. Other than this we could not fault the place. Pure peace and quiet and the owners were lovely too, would recommend 100%!
Mr Metcalfe, August 2019
A beautiful cottage.. Extremely comfortable, well maintained and very quite. I highly recommend.
Mr Edwards, June 2019
Very enjoyable stay in this spacious and well equipped bungalow.. Stunning views to the front and easy access everywhere despite the road diversion in operation. Thoroughly recommend to anyone wishing to sample the delights of the Splway Coast.
Mr Cooke, May 2019
A truely great house, we felt really spoiled living here for the week.. Excellent location, despite the road closure between Allonby and Silloth (causing all traffic passing our bungalow). A good starting point for our explorations in the Lake district! We had a lovely week in Mawbray, Thank you Kathleen.
We enjoyed our stay at West Croft.. The property is spacious, very clean and comfortable.A credit to the very pleasant and none intrusive owners.Peacefully situated with great uninterupted views of the lakeland hills in the distance.Good Wi Fi signal, wide beach and sand dune walks overlooking the Solway Firth just a short stroll away, ideal for four legged friends! We would'nt hesitate to book again or recommend to others!
West croft is an extremely roomy, well situated cottage.. It is very clean and comfortable. All the beds were very comfortable and quality linens. The views from the cottage are lovely. Not too far to walk to the quiet beach. We would definitely recommend this cottage to a family and would rent again if we needed a larger cottage
This house was said to be dog friendly but when we got there there was a sign saying no dogs in bedroom which is fine alot do that but there was also one saying no dogs on furniture either which is fine when we are awake we can stop them from going on the chairs but ment at bedtime we had to close the living room door and bedroom doors which left him in the hallway all night so with all the door closed on my dog we could not hear if he needs to go out for a wee at night so we was up and down all night to try and make sure he did not leave a mess .. Also the bedroom doors do not close properly so if he pushed it it would come open so had to put bags by the door on the inside of the bedrooms so he could not get in. A lovely house but I think it should not have said it was dog friendly so many more houses that are far more pet friendly and I have stayed in many of them .
The cottage was beautiful and the area nice and quiet.. In 20 years of using Sykes, this one was the best.
The extras in the kitchen were a delightful surprise, milk, tea, biscuits etc etc.. The cottage was exceptional.
Pets are welcome but no gate to stop them leaving the property as my dog jumped the cattle grid.. But there was nothing else wrong with property, very clean and comfortable
Lovely, well equipped bungalow in a peaceful village and a stone's throw away from the beach.. A great base for exploring the Solway coast and The Lake District.
Excellent cottage, roomy well equipped everything you could need for your holiday..
Lovely area.. Comfortable and well equipt cottage. So peaceful. We would like to return.
Lovely cottage .. Very rural surrounded by fields. No back garden but on a quiet road. Very far north of lakes about 40 minutes from keswick. Close to coast. House spacious with comfortable beds. Lovely local pub within 2 minute walk.
Cottage had everything we could have wished for and more.. Location was perfect everything we needed was in easy reach which made for a perfect holiday.
Need to make it clear there was no back garden..
Mr Lovatt, April 2017
Spacious and comfortable cottage with everything provided you could possibly need.. Three spacious bedrooms & a large sitting room meant it was airy and light. Very, very clean and lots of lovely little extras too. A perfect location for us, who have a small dog, because it has a secure garden, a quiet country lane to walk him down plus it's only a few minutes to the coast, where you can walk miles along the sand dunes. Lovely cottage and location - we will certainly be coming again soon!

This bungalow was immaculate with everything you could wish for - including a piano! A delightful and supremely comfortable holiday home in a lovely rustic setting. The owners are so helpful. A place where you can escape the mad world and completely relax in peaceful and picturesque surroundings.
A fantastic property for a family holiday, in a nice quiet location. If you like talking to cows and chasing rabbits around sand dunes you can't go wrong. This property is easily big enough for 6 adults. There were only the two of us and the two dogs for a quick break but we really enjoyed the house and the area. The village has a great looking children's playground right in middle of it and it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the sand dunes, beach and the sea. The walk along the sand and dunes is fantastic and full off wildlife. It has really easy to access all the lovely coastal areas around and all the other Lake District stuff too.
