Wellgarth Cottage is a terraced property, one of five situated around a courtyard development in the village of Newby, eight miles from Appleby in Cumbria and opposite the owner's home. This cottage sleeps six people in four bedrooms, consisting of a double with an en-suite bath, a twin and two singles, as well as a main bathroom. The cottage also has a kitchen with dining area and two sitting rooms. Outside there is off road parking for two cars and a front patio with furniture. Wellgarth Cottage is an ideal base for a family, with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks, Ullswater, Penrith and the Scottish Borders. Bookings can only begin on a Saturday.

Area
The village of Newby is situated in the Eden Valley, between the northern Pennines and the Lake District. Newby is surrounded by open fields and offers a delightful pond, providing a haven for ducks and wild flowers. Eight miles away is the historic town of Appleby, which is a major stop on the scenic Settle-Carlisle railway line, and boasts 15th Century architecture, a Norman Castle and a 300 year old annual horse fair.

The house we stayed in was in a lovely, quiet village.. There was plenty of room for all of us. I would say it was very good value for money. The house was ideally located for visiting the area with many attractions only a 30 minute drive away. There are also some walks directly from the property and there is also a really nice park in the neighbouring village. The owners were very friendly and helpful. My partner had to work whilst we were there and the WiFi was very useful for this considering how people are currently working. The house may benefit from satellite broadband, but I appreciate most people would not require it if they were on holiday. We left an item at the house and the owners have posted it. We had a wonderful time at the property.

Wellgarth Cottage was very comfortable - soft sofas and comfy beds and pillows.. It was well equipped with everything we needed and was reasonably priced when compared with other 4-bedroom properties in the north lakes area. I would thoroughly recommend it.
