August 2020
We had a fabulous time at Valley View, which is entirely appropriately named! The house was warm, spacious and comfortable and we felt completely at home there. The owner was really helpful and made us feel welcome. She respected our privacy but we knew that if we had any problems we could speak to her at any time. The huge thunderstorm we had took out the Internet - not that our world stopped turning as a result as we weren't glued to screens - but Mrs. Turner called early the next morning to make sure we were ok and to tell us that BT were going to get to us as soon as they could. We'd read all the information prior to going and so took games / dvds etc with us but they stayed in the bag - we sat out in the garden soaking up the fabulous uninterrupted view and the children (not to mention their Mum and Dad ) loved the Pool table!! The holiday at Valley View provided us with the perfect setting and opportunity to forget, for a while, the craziness of the last few months and gave us the chance to be a "normal" family having conversations during which Covid 19 wasn't even mentioned and for that we are extremely grateful! A great place to go if you want to relax and recharge the batteries. Hoping to return.

Nice house but needs a few more homely touches, like having a few DVDs.. There was a DVD player but nothing to play. A WiFi booster, there was hardly any internet, 1mbs, and as soon as you left the room you couldn't get the wifi. Not being charged to use the washing machine, 1000 plus a week and still have to pay to use a washing machine. The house could of done with cleaning better, we found dirty socks under the sofa. And a fence for the garden would be brilliant, sheep kept getting in meaning you can never let your dogs out. Maybe a few leaflets or instructions on what's in the area, like walks or attractions and how to use the heating. Lovely view though, very peaceful.

The accommodation was booked on behalf of an outdoor club group who were attending a course, everyone were very pleased with it and all agreed that they would happily return again.. Fantastic views from the lounge and dining area windows, an ideal retreat for walkers and artists alike.

The owner, Lynda was very hospitable and made us a cake for when we arrived which we really enjoyed! The views are outstanding, one of the best equipped places we've stayed at. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would love to go again.

We stayed a week 4 adults and a two year old with our two dogs. The house is Fantastic. Panoramic views of duddon valley. Plenty of walking and equally just nice to relax and do nothing. We wish we had booked an extra week and were gutted to be leaving. Will definitely return as soon as we can

8 of us have enjoyed a fabulous and relaxing New Year break in this cottage. The property had everything we needed, was spotlessly clean and offered spectacular views. Enjoyed it so much we're looking to book again.

We stayed here over New Year, a party of 8 adults, and we were all pleasantly surprised with the property.. The photos do not do this house justice. It's spacious, clean, comfortable, warm and has everything you need plus stunning views. There were also some welcome gifts awaiting us which were greatly appreciated. We all had a wonderful stay and would happily book again. Thanks Mrs Turner.

A fantastic holiday had by family of all ages.. . Lovely welcome by the lovely owner with a home baked cake. . Views from every room were amazing .. only thing I could suggest although there were leaflets of surrounding attractions maybe a guide book suggesting walks popular places to visit would add to this lovely place as had it not been for our daughter using the Internet we may not of found the great places we did .. visited the lakeland steam railway and combined that with a cruise down windermere was a highlight of the holiday. Thank you so much

We loved our stay at Valley View.. The beds were comfortable! The views were incredible! We stay at many places in the Lakes, and this was one of our favorites. The house has unobstructed views that are unparalleled. It sits on the edge of a working farm, off a winding road about ten minutes away from Broughton-on-Furness. The town is great-- excellent pubs, a butcher with a small market and a bakery-- so the house is well situated. It's close to the coast and great walks. The house has comfy couches and even a pool table. All around, an excellent find!

We had a really nice stay.. The cottage was clean, well-equipped and has a fantastic view of the valley. Internet was a bit slow but was good enough to read/write emails. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to enjoy less-touristy but nicer parts of the lake district.

First time using Sykes, first visit to the Lake District for over 20 years and the first time with children.. Together with being seriously long term ill I was very nervous about this trip. Basically everything went to plan - payment, finding the cottage, the cottage itself having the best view and facilities. We all would definitely go again - all children agreed (aged 7 to 14 years)

The pool table was a great addition to the house, the views and surrounding areas were amazing, it had everything you needed in the kitchen (we even made a roast), and the host made us a delicious cake! We really felt like we were getting away from it all, but in the luxury of a nice house. The only downside was - hot water could be temperamental, which is shame because it has the most amazing bath which I couldn't use because it ran cold. Could also benefit from a hairdryer. Can't fault anything else! We'd definitely stay again.

The cottage is quite remote up a steep road.. The views however are absolutely stunning! You need to be organised with provisions as there are no grocery shops nearby. The small town of Broughton in Furness has limited shops and these do not open on Sundays. There are pubs one of which serves good food. We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is really spacious and comfortable. We thought a fire would be nice focal point. The owner made us a lovely cake which was delicious!

What a lovely cottage - the photos on the website don't do it justice.. The views were incredible (the pics showed this and we weren't disappointed), but the accommodation is also fantastic. Great welcome from the host and as it's a working farm the kids loved seeing the animals and the farmers in action out the windows. We'd definitely recommend this - a real find!

Wow, this place is set in the Corney Fell Valley, the views are absolutely amazing.. The cottage is beautiful and located on a working farm, we had the joy of seeing the lambs. The walks nearby the cottage are beautiful but it is hilly, very good for burning calories :0) This place is perfect place to get away from everything. The mobile signal isn't great and also the Internet is slow at best, but this was great as you don't need the Internet with spectacular views that surround you. I would highly recommend this cottage as it is close to Coniston lake and Wast Water. We are hoping to be back later this year :0)

April 2017
The cottage is a good size, well designed and equipped for a large group of people.. Scenery beautiful, easy reach of other areas of the Lake District. We were lucky to be there in Spring to have the added entertainment of the lambs in a field by the house, with a large window looking out over them and a good view of a ruin in a distant field and the backdrop of mountains.

Very enjoyable holiday views are wonderful the only downside was walks for the dogs - you were only able to exercise dogs on road by farm which are narrow just enough for one car so I didn't find very suitable..

This property is in a magnificent position occupying a high position in the Duddon valley, The views are breathtaking as is the drive up! The property is on a working farm so there is always plenty going on around and about. The property also takes advantage of its position with large windows looking out over the magnificent countryside. The cottage is well equipped and functional but not luxurious. it was ideal for us where our party ranged in age from 2 to 93.

It was great to get together with all the family, in a big enough house. The fact the dogs were allowed too was a bonus. It had home from home comforts and everyone enjoyed themselves.
