Area
Inverness, Scotland's Highland Capital, is the gateway to the myriad joys of Scotland's Highlands. Towering mountains, dark lochs, vast forests, and sheer sea cliffs are all easily accessible. The renowned Loch Ness, which is surrounded by some absolutely magnificent landscape, is of particular note, yet most visitors are looking for something a little more mysterious! Culloden Moor, just outside the city, is the site of the Culloden Battlefield (National Trust). The location of the last major combat fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display representing the battle, and a stroll over the battlefield serves as a sad remembrance of the clansmen who died.

Region
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
