Self-Catering Reviews

Mrs Courtliff
April 2019
We had an extremely warm welcome considering we arrived later than planned, it it did not seem to troubleVal and Denis.. They wanted to make sure we had everything we needed, that we were comfortable. The log cabin was in the perfect position for our family including our young dog, so we could visit all the wonderful local villages and beaches. Val also recommended a local kennel, as we needed to put our dog in for one day while we visited York. We reluctantly had to leave after a week but would definitely be back.

October 2018
Warm welcome from the owners and charming lodge which is very peacefully situated at the end of their (large) garden.. Very well built, in good condition inside and out and nicely appointed. Compact - it's a lodge - so galley kitchen with all you need but don't plan a major cooking adventure and the bathroom is cosy (literally given always on heated towel rail). Everything works as it should, no draughts, loads of very hot water, effective electric radiators, good bed linen and duvets. Good access to both coast and moors, with wide ranging views. Recommended.

A tranquil location with good access to inland and coastal places of interest, we are familiar to the East Coast but found new places to visit and eat because the owners were so very helpful but in no way intrusive. The Cabin is very well located, equipped and comfortable, we found everything we could have possibly needed for our stay. Looking forward to returning again and again.

The log cabin is situated in a wonderful area with great views. It was cosy and spotless with a huge lawn garden which our dog loved. We were just a short drive away to walk in the spectacular North Yorkshire moors , which we did lots of time. There was a good pub which did food a few minutes walk away which was dog friendly. The owners were lovely and helpful. An ideal position to get to coast and country.

The cabin is in a great location for visiting the area. It's just 20 minutes drive from the coast and about 45 minutes from Dalby Forest. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and finding milk, wine and biscuits in the fridge on arrival were a welcome and thoughtful surprise. The cabin itself was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a perfect, relaxing stay. We ate in the local pub most nights where the service and food were good. They also welcomed our dog which was great. All in all a great cabin in a great location.

The property makes for an excellent base for travelling to the coast or the North Yorkshire Moors. The property owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The property is spotlessly clean. The pub is just two minutes walk across the road; the food and service are second to none and the staff are very accommodating and everyone is dog friendly. This was our second visit to this property and we will probably visit again.

December 2012
The owner made myself and daughter feel welcome and not just a paying customer. The cabin was very clean and very warm. Just what you want in december. December 2012
The welcome given by Val on our arrival could not have been warmer, and she was justly proud of the cabin. Even though it was a pet friendly cabin you would never have known any animals had ever been in it as it was scrupulously clean - not a dog hair in evidence. The cabin was far enough from the house to be completely private though near enough to pop over when we had any queries. The beds were so comfortable that a good night's sleep was guaranteed, and the roomy living area was very inviting. On the beautiful days we were lucky enough to have it was lovely to sit on the verandah in the early evening just listening to the birds singing. Set in the countryside on the edge of the national park, both the open moors and the coast were within a few minutes drive. There was a good pet-friendly pub opposite and plenty of places to walk the dog in safety. The garden boasted a trampoline that was ideal for children, I was tempted to have a go myself but decided it might be a challenge too far! I could find nothing to complain about in the cabin, it was a lovely place to stay and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone considering booking it for a break. The only possible negative would be that the garden is not fenced in at the front so the dog needed to be taken out on the lead at all times, but that is a very minor point and it wouldn't deter me from booking the cabin again.
Mr Roberts

Absolutely fantastic place, we've been before and we will go again. The little touches, like milk in the fridge and biscuits, on arrival really are appreciated. The owners are so friendly and brilliant, offering buckets, spades and fishing nets for the kids. There's a swing set and trampoline to keep the kids amused and the verandah is great for eating and relaxing on a summer evening. The amenities are brilliant. Just a simply wonderful place to stay.

September 2010
Lovely holiday had by everyone, spacious cabin, with excellent hosts. The children had access to a trampoline and swings, plus a huge garden to run around. The welcome gifts of milk, chocky biscuits and a bottle of wine were a lovely gesture. The only issue we had was the rugs on the floor were loose and slipping on the varnished floor. As a member of our family was disabled, we found this quite dangerous, so we took them up and rolled them, put in a corner. They could have been secured with many gadgets available nowadays, and commented in the visitors book about it. Otherwise a perfect location thats open all year round and in a beautiful part of the country, accessable to a great many beaches.
