We were in the area to visit Alton Towers and this was a perfect base only a few miles down the road. We stayed in The Stables, a 2 bedroom cottage, both rooms ensuite. The cottage has amazing views, was spotlessly clean and decor/furnishings of a high standard. Couple of niggles, which is why review is not 5 star. WiFi connection, even with 2 routers is poor. Also the double room is small, we had to store suitcases etc in the twin room. Fine for a short stay though.

We were the first customers to stay in one of these 3 converted barns as England began coming out of covid-19 restrictions, on 12 April. We booked to stay in Herdwick's Barn, which is a beautifully converted barn with a mezzanine level housing the bedroom. The location, in Ramshorn, is perfectly secluded and just south of the Peak District, and views are wonderful, yet it's a mere 5 minute drive from the adrenaline-packed Alton Towers or some lovely quaint pubs and restaurants. Sue is your host and a very lovely, professional lady. The barn was spotlessly clean with ample space. The stone walls sit perfectly with the large slate flooring and modern touches, never losing its cottage feel. With underfloor heating, lounge area with tv, dining area, fully fitted kitchen, stairs up to the bedroom, and a large terrace with furniture, you want for nothing. There is an excellent Indian restaurant that delivers should you fancy a break from cooking, and likewise a pizzeria. Parking is ample and free. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and value for money was excellent.
