Self-Catering Reviews

September 2020
The cottage was small and Mainly comfortable but we had some issues while we were there.. We were aware that previous guests had commented on the lack of power in the shower but the area of water coming out was no greater than 5cms. Worse shower we have seen. The toilet seat was also broken. We had issues with the cleanliness. The oven was very dirty and greasy, the freezer compartment in the fridge was so iced up that there wasn’t room for food and we had to wash out the dishwasher before we could use it as there was food In the bottom left by the previous guests. We had brilliant weather while we were there but this then highlighted the very dirty windows. There is a tv but we couldn’t watch it as BBC 1&2 were unavailable and the other channels kept pixelating. We did leave feedback in the cottage about these issues.

The snug is in the perfect location for exploring Haworth and surrounding area.. It’s a lovely place to stay. The only problem we had was that the shower was a bit weak but everything was brilliant and would definitely stay again

Very cosy cottage and very well equipped.. We had a lovely week, great position in the town and close to lots of pubs and tea rooms. Comfortable bed and really snuggly duvet! We struggled going up and down the stairs since they are rather narrow and we are rather tall! Only slight downside was the shower was a little feeble but there was plenty of hot water and it did the job! We were sad to leave!

The Snug is cozy and in a great location.. . It’s really comfortable and the log burner makes it even cosier in winter. The bed is amazing and have a great night sleep. Quality bedding is great and makes a difference too. Really enjoyed stay and would come again and recommend also.

Wow! It was perfect! Right location, right amount of space, cost, warm and just beautiful! Bed was comfy, loved the sofa! Would wholeheartedly recommend

The shower was extrwmely inadequate due to lack of pressure.. An electric pump would have improved the situation. Also the cooker needs updating and the lack of an electric kettle was frustrating. The cottage was very warm and comfortable, and very suitable for two people. Apart from the two comments I have made for improvement, I would recommend this as a very nice base for a holiday.

Great cosy cottage, easy walk to Main Street Haworth and always no problem to park.. In fact you could park up and walk, bus or train everywhere. Haworth is a beautiful village and a wonderful area. The cottage bed is comfortable and the room quiet. Well equipped, but no washing machine or wifi (at the time) and the shower pressure could be much improved. No welcome pack provided so make sure you bring basics for when you arrive. Lounge is really cosy with the fireplace and the kitchen is fine. Lovely little sitting out area. If there was wifi I'd definitely stay again.

The cottage is very small but has everything you need for 2 people.. Excellent location 2 minutes walk from the centre of the village. All local pubs had lovely home cooked food.

No wifi, which wasn't stated at any point in the listing.. If we had realised this in advance we would have booked somewhere else. There is also no washing machine, which is mentioned but is not obvious. Unlike AirBnB, Sykes is not very clear about which features are not present in the accommodation before you book. We also generally would expect to have to buy one or two of the essentials in your average holiday cottage. But not all of them. There was no oil, no salt, no tea, no coffee, no soap, no dish-washing liquid, no bin bags apart from one in the bin and not enough toilet paper for more than a few days. The only things in the cupboard were some pepper, some green tea and some oregano. We also had to buy tea towels because there was only one and it didn't have enough time to dry in between meals. There were no helpful tips or recommendations other than a collection of random tourist leaflets. Most places we have stayed have had a small folder with the nearest supermarkets, worthwhile restaurants and takeaways etc. This had nothing, which would have been okay if it wasn't for the fact there was no WiFi to look it up... The oven settings were also tricky to figure out because it used different symbols to the usual, and there was no guide, so we thought it was broken at first. It's a shame, because it's a lovely cottage and could have been really nice (although probably not the best for those with infants as the travel cot has no mattress and there isn't really enough space for them to crawl) if it had been properly equipped with the various necessities.

Lovely cottage, with a well-equipped and stocked kitchen (no rushing out on arrival for oil and salt, etc.. ) and in a tucked away and wonderfully quiet location close to the centre of Haworth village but with no noise.

Rented for our son and grandaughter on a quick visit from Australia.. She loved her bed on the mezzanine with the Teddy! Handy for cafes, restaurants and pubs, great choice within walking distance. They found the natives very friendly and Abbey now has a passable Yorkshire accent. Will stay there again.

As a couple of walking people (plus Fraser, the dog) we found the extreme hilliness confusing to direction finding! ! So an ordnance survey map would have been useful, but hey, we should have taken one!! Everything else was "Grand"!!

Lovely clean, cozy cottage in a brilliant location.. The pubs, shops, restaurants, all the Bronte stuff and walks across the moors right on the doorstep. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We all had a great time. Will definitely be back and will certainly recommend to family and friends.

The Snug was exactly the type of cottage I like. I knew as soon as we walked in that there would be no problems; it was spotlessly clean, cosy, warm and welcoming, a lovely place to relax. The location was ideal for walking into Howarth, it was away from busy areas but close enough to access. Howarth is lovely and friendly.

Great location, just a stones throw from all of the shops and pubs etc. A very comfortable cottage which has been refurbished to a high standard. Had a cosy fire to snuggle down to in the evening, comfortable beds, was very well equipped and had an efficient cooker. Great value for money.

The area is outstanding, have always loved Haworth, lots of interesting shops and lovely restaurants. The views whilst walking our dog up Penistone Hill were just amazing, I'm from Yorkshire originally but moved away 14 years ago and it made me want to move back, nowhere else can beat Gods own county, love it!
