However, just a two-minute walk from Shepherd’s Bush tube stop, this home defies expectations – it is indeed a garden cottage in the city. White its white picket fence, Victorian brickwork, and perfectly preened foliage on the front patio, it’s every bit the countryside village scene. Inside, modernity and tradition lock horns to create an altogether unique living space. On one hand, a plush seating arrangement, a huge library of books, and an original decorative fireplace. Then through the doorframe, find a super-stylish conservatory-diner filled with plants and white furniture, with a matching kitchen. Soft light falls in from the skylight, and glass doors open up to a verdant patio. Take your Earl Grey tea out in the morning, and come back to enjoy a G&T after dusk. If you need some privacy, you’ve even got a luxe studio home in the back of the garden – just like camping out in the wilderness (well, almost).

*Three adults can sleep in the main house, but the third bedroom is at the bottom of the garden in a studio – this small double bed suits two kids, or one adult (it also has its own mini kitchen and shower room)
