Well equipped cottage in the middle of Hutton Le Hole. Opposite a pub (that does clues very early) Nice comfortable rooms Clean Welcome pack of essentials (including some bubbles!) We lived our stay.

We were welcomed with a few groceries and a bottle of Prosecco.. The Old School House was well designed, very (Covid) clean, comfortable and had everything we needed...and more. The village of Hutton le Hole is one of the prettiest we've seen; the local pub very friendly and welcoming and served amazing food. Lots to do and see in and around the area. We loved our stay!

We had an amazing week at The Old School House.. It was extremely cosy and clean and loads of lovely touches there. Kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfy, shower was lovely, sofa was really comfortable, honestly can’t fault it. If it wasn’t so far away from home I think we would be back soon! Debbie was very communicative and approachable too and the little village itself was gorgeous. Would highly recommend :)

Lovely Clean cottage, in a beautiful village, excellent communication from the owner.. The cottage is well equipped, with plenty of space for all 5 of us. It is positioned in the centre of the village.

Really lovely accommodation, home away from home - very comfortable, cosy and clean.. Would highly recommend booking if you are looking for a quiet break. Hutton-le-Hole is a beautiful small village and well worth a visit, I felt like time stood still and we had the most relaxing and peaceful break with a lovely place to return to at the end of each day. It’s about a 50min drive to the coastal areas; we visited Whitby, Robin hood’s bay and Filey which are all very lovely places to explore. The house has everything you need and more, the cake and Prosecco waiting for us on arrival was a lovey touch too.

Found the accommodation a bit damp at first but had everything we needed although I think beige carpets with all the mud and sheep poo about a strange choice! Would book again, Yorkshire is lovely!

Just returned from a long weekend at the school house.. Lovely apartment, sympathetically restored and decorated in beautiful calming colours. Access to the property was very organised thanks to Debbie. The village is small but has all you need. The Crown pub across the road serves amazing food and cask ales etc and worth visiting. The barn cafe was a lovely place for a lunchtime treat and Caroline, the owner was fab. It was lovely watching the sheep roaming and grazing all around the village and a gentle stroll around the river through the village blew the cobwebs off. We will return for longer next time

Beautiful holiday accommodation in a perfect village.. Parking isn't easy: on a corner with three-way traffic, and often a large van parked adjacent so you are backing out blind. The public carpark for extra vehicles is not 24-hours (overnight not allowed). The TV is small and difficult to see from dining table. Courtyard was unattractive, including rubbish blown down there, and we didn't use. Washing machine shared on one occasion (possibly with cleaner – it was very full of sheets etc). You need to telephone the owners for the key instructions, rather than a normal email from the agency, and in our case that was difficult. So some negatives, but overall the lovely flat, lovely building, lovely village, meant a very good recommendation.

This flat was perfect for our family *wedding weekend* The village of Hutton le Hole is very picturesque and there are beautiful walks in the area.. I cannot recommend the Old School House highly enough.

Absolutely stunning place, hutton le hole is one of our favourite places & the old school house was superb.. The views from the windows looking out across the village just makes it. Everything about the school house is perfect we will be back in January.

We had a wonderful week in The Old School House.. The flat was bright and comfortable with everything we needed. The games in the chest/table in the living room were a particular hit! The village was lovely, everyone was friendly and the sheep provided great entertainment. A great location for days out to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Staithes, Scarborough, Flamingoland, Helmsley and more. Thank you.
Mrs Green, July 2019
July 2019
The little outside court yard at the property could be made more inviting.. We didn't use this area as it's surrounded by walls that can't be seen over if you're seated which is a shame when there's such a stunning view. The accommodation is excellent in every other way however and we have thoroughly enjoyed our week there.

Fantastic holiday, one of the best we have ever had.. Loads of places to go and see and do. The old schoolhouse itself was very spacious and comfortable and had everything needed in the kitchen. The cafe downstairs was a bit hit and miss as whether it was actually open or not so we never got to try it.

The Old School House, beautiful apartment, well presented and thought out, would suggest a blind in master bedroom, great location and lovely village, ideal for moors and coast.. .

Nice flat but pain to keep unlocking both doors.. Outside space was quite messy so we didn’t use it. Accommodation was nice and the complementary toiletries were lovely. On the whole nice accommodation but a little tired.

April 2019
The old school house was not only in a beautiful location with relaxing surroundings but the apartment itself was beautiful, relaxing, homely and clean.. Myself and my family didn’t want to go home and would happily stayed another week.

March 2019
The flat was sited right in the village with open views.. Lovely and quiet, though the cafe was not open in March so don’t know what it would be like in summer. The flat was a little ‘tired’, but comfortable, spacious and warm. The heating controls were accessible so it was easy to press the boost button if it got a little chilly. We never found the village store but had a lovely meal at the pub across the road.
Mr Canty, March 2019

The cottage was fantastic, as were the hosts they sent a text and email to ensure we were up to date and happy before arrival.. On arrival we were greeted with an abundance of chocolate treats. The school house was very comfortable especially the bed, and the views were fantastic. A great location , had a great time.

October 2018
Lovely village and cottage location.. Spacious and pleasing decor. Update needed of mattresses and pillows. Certainly on the single bed I slept in. Wardrobe would have been handy. Some kitchen equipment needed replacing . Shower glass needed a good scrub. Blessed by good weather and so handy for moors and the coast.
Mrs Johnson, October 2018
July 2018
We had a few hiccups - a massive storm knocked out power for 24h and we had no hot water following this.. The owners of the cottage were brilliant and really really helpful, they couldn’t have done more to ameliorate the (very slight) inconvenience we encountered. The cottage was perfect in location, facilities and we were very happy there.

If you have never visited hutton-le-hole, you must! It is the most beautiful little village! The pub over the road has wonderful, amazing food. There are sheep roaming freely around the village. You wake up to birds chirping happily. Now, the old schoolhouse... beautiful! The beds are very comfortable. The original features are just wonderful! Like the stunning Windows! It's very clean. You can see the whole village whilst sat on the sofa. The shower is fab, really powerful. I have spoken to the owner twice and she is lovely. Very helpful. We are here for a week, and we are enjoying every second. We will not want to leave! X

We did not want to come home! The most beautiful little village I have ever seen! Plenty to do all around. The pub over the road does fantastic food, we ate there 3 times it was that good! The old school house was so perfect for us. We love history, and there are some beautiful features, the windows are stunning. It was very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable! My 17 month old daughter loved sitting on the little stools in the window watching the sheep. The owner was lovely, very helpful. See you next year!

The cottage occupies a prime place in a very lovely village.. The view from the lounge looks down the length of the village and has a different aspect from the other settee looking down the stream and across to the woods. The stairs up to the apartment would not suit everyone especially carrying cases up.For an old building the rooms are surprisingly light and heating is efficient. The parking cone needs to be left out otherwise if you return before the shop/cafe closes you may find nowhere to park in the busy season.

Beautiful house and surroundings.. Would highly recommend. Would definitely return if it allowed a dog, just wish it was pet friendly

A spacious, detached apartment in an idyllic location. It is set above the shop but is completely separate. Quality furniture and furnishings. Immaculate bed linen and towels. One double bedroom, one single bedroom and a twin bedroom (one of the beds is a 'put-you-up' type bed) all bedrooms have pretty views. All that is needed is in the kitchen - microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer etc. Perfect views over the village and stream from the lounge. Easy parking.

It would have been nice to have local phone numbers of the doctor, dentist, A & E, etc.. Also the pubs opening hours particularly in the winter months. We expected it to be open all week. There were no instructions on how to use appliances either, that would have been helpful.

There wasn't sufficient cutlery for a family of 5 for more than 1 meal a day, had to hand wash regularly.. No information about using microwave/cooker/washer etc. No safety information about nearest doctor/hospital. No visitor book to fill in either. Comfortable and clean, very happy with our stay on the whole.
