Watchet is a charming, Somerset port town with a two-millennia-old nautical history, where visitors may browse the many quaint shops and watch the boats in the marina. The West Somerset Railway, a twenty-mile restored steam railway, runs through Watchet and continues through spectacular terrain to Minehead, approximately nine miles away, attracting railway enthusiasts from all around. The Quantock Hills climb 1,000 feet above sea level towards St Audries in the east, and the Brendon Hills and Exmoor are to the west, both easily accessible. Porlock, with its steep hill and picturesque winding alleys, Dunster, with its magnificent castle situated above the old village, and Minehead, with its sandy beach, golf course, and traditional seaside activities, are just a few of the charming coastal and inland places to visit. For rural beauty, stunning coastline, and wonderful walking, this is a terrific holiday spot.
