A really comfortable stay with everything we needed.. The bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen is showing signs that it needs replacing but I'm judging this as if it were my own and appreciate it is not. We had great contact with the owner before, during and after our stay. They were responsive to our queries. The village is lovely, there is a good pub that serves quality food. Bishop Wilton is close to other facilities, but has a small community shop for necessities.

What a fantastic location the village of Bishop Wilton is stunning and very quite.. The old Chapel is a fantastic place to stay and extremely impressed and it really made the holiday. Ideally located within easy reach of the North Yorkshire Moors its an idea base for your holiday. we thoroughly enjoyed the break and will be back for sure. Just 2 very minor comments and just purely for assistance. The bulb in the fridge needs replacing and we thought best to let you know it was not an issue purely letting you know. We stripped the bedding and place towels (inc tea towels in the relevant bags as per the instructions). There was a note to place in the outdoor cupboard and we could not find the cupboard as the ones outside have refuse bins so a little confused as to the correct location. It might be a good idea to add a picture and something to show the right place on the welcome pack. Apologies if this caused an issue as we genuinely could not find location and therefore left at the bottom of the stairs. Thanks for the such a great stay it was a great tonic and we cannot wait to return. Kind regards Max and Angie

Excellent generously proportioned chapel conversion with 3 bedrooms, bathroom and WC on ground floor and open plan living, dining, kitchen on first floor with open views to front.. Well appointed, thoughtful and considerate owner, this was just like a home from home (a very nice one!). Two large double bedrooms and a bunk bedroom sleeps up to 6. Bathroom with bath and shower cubicle, with a separate WC. Owner communicates well, easy free parking in front of property. Easy travel distance to York, Knaresborough and Harrogate and to the coast to Bridlington, Scarborough etc. North York Moors Railway run steam trains from Pickering to Whitby, which was a highlight for the family. Would thoroughly recommend this property and would not hesitate to book again for a future holiday.

The Old Chapel in Bishop Wilton is an absolutely stunning property.. The village is beautiful and the local pub 'The Fleece Inn' (which is literally round the corner) is quaint and delightful and ran by lovely people and serves delicious food and has a great atmosphere. There is a shop in Bishop Wilton but it's getting refurbished at the moment so we had to hop into the car to nearby Pocklington - approximately 10 minute drive - which didn't bother us at all because when you get there you find a beautiful village/small town with great shops, pubs and restaurants. Anyway back to the Old Chapel in Bishop Wilton. I really can't explain how stunning this place is guys. Upside down living,Which confused us and our dog at first but we soon got used to it) a pretty little securely enclosed high walled patio area - perfect for our dog. The furniture in the lounge and the beds are so comfortable and as for the kitchen well it's superb and is stocked really well. E.g plates, pans, cleaning products, dishwasher, microwave, cooker and the other facilities are excellent to. So overall, for us, PERFECT!..... . We will definitely be recommending this property to our friends and family. And if you are wanting to stay somewhere with a 'WOW!!' then this is absolutely the place for you. The only negative we have is that we were only there for 5 nights. We're gutted it couldn't have been longer but sadly with work commitments our stay (this time) couldn't have been longer. We stayed at this property from 3/11/18 to 8/11/18 and the price we paid for staying - well we thought it was a bargain and we will definitely 100% be booking here again. We would like to say a huge thank you to the owner of The Old Chapel for allowing this place to be rented out, it's perfect in every way xxxx. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Sykes Cottages as well for advertising what we thought is such a truly wonderful peaceful haven. Thanks again love from Shaun, Dean and Ziggy the dog xxxx

October 2018
The experience of the Old Chapel Cottage we stayed in at Bishop Wilton was one of sheer delight.. A Beautiful little village all but a 20 minute car journey to York City. We managed to fill the whole week with easy enough travels to well known places of interest, Whitby Bay and the World Famous Abbey were hot on our list to visit, and their Fish n Chips are most definitely the tastiest I've ever had. The furthest we travelled was to a place called The Forbidden Corner in North Yorkshire. What an amazing place, perfect for those with kids and who like a place of adventure. York City itself is a thriving City, wether its the Shops, the quaint little Café and bars, or the Olde Streets of the Shambles, but our best memories are of the 275 twirling steps that takes you up to the top of the York Minster Tower. Amazing views, Bishop Wilton has an excellent food pub too. I'd certainly Love to return one day.

October 2016
We stayed at this cottage last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodation is very spacious and upon arrival exceptionally clean. There were many thoughtful extras in the property, including kitchen items, plenty of towels instead of the usual one each and although we didn't get to meet the owners, they had left us a lovely cake, so we were happy. There is a well stocked shop in this quiet village, and Pocklington is easy to get to for more shops and supermarkets. Overall a very enjoyable break.
Mr Aird, June 2017
October 2016
Really impressed by the size of this property, lovely and spacious.. It was extremely clean on arrival and the owners had gone over and above with what is normally provided in holiday accommodation, lots of extras were available. The outside area is small but very nicely presented and perfect for anyone travelling with a dog, being fully enclosed. The village is small but there is a well stocked shop and pub on hand. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed a very restful break and returned home with our batteries recharged.

September 2016
Spacious, airy property in a delightful village setting. The seating is uncomfortable and seat pads to the sofas need attention. The Extractor fan/light was not working nor a strip light over the counter worktop in the kitchen, it was difficult to see the dial settings on the hob (had to use a torch)! I note that in October 2015 that a reviewer also complained regarding the seating and nearly 12 months down the line the sofas are no better. Reported the lighting issue to the owners the day before we left and it was three full days before a response was received.

We found the Old Chapel to be the perfect base, for exploring East Yorkshire and the east coast. The Chapel itself was a delight to stay in, comfortable and relaxing, with plenty of space in which to relax. The Village and local area provided ample opportunity for walking, which always seemed to lead to the excellent Village pub.

This is the second year in a row we've stayed at the Chapel and once again it has not let us down. I only wish that it was my permanent residence as its so beautiful! The village itself is quiet and very friendly. There are plenty of walks to do, as well visiting local attractions such as York and the Eden Camp. We would definitely come again and make it a third year running. The rooms are spotless, both years we've been greeted with a cake on arrival which after a 4 hour drive was perfect with a cup of tea! Pet friendly too which is great for our little cavapoo - the outside courtyard was perfect for having a drink outside in the summer sun! I could go on more but I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a calm, peaceful yet stylish and modern get away :)

We stayed at The Old Chapel for a third time and enjoyed every aspect of the experience. An unusual and great place to stay comfortable In the knowledge that the property is maintained to a very high standard. A 'Chocolate Box' village in a beautiful location. Walking to the local pub only a couple of hundred yards where good pub food was served added to the experience. We have no hesitation recommending The Old Chapel to anyone seeking a high quality holiday cottage that has everything going for it.

What a lovely quirky holiday cottage. We loved the upside down layout of The Old Chapel and it had 3 very spacious bedrooms and bathroom with extra loo too! Kitchen was very well equipped and seating area outside nice. Unfortunately the 2 sofa's in the lounge have seen better days, they are in need of new foam in the seats or replacing altogether. Not very comfortable to relax on. Light bulbs needed replacing and there was thick layers of dust on certain surfaces. The large lounge mat was coming up at the corners so was a slight trip hazard. The windows upstairs aren't child safe as they do open quite wide, must admit that we're not sure if they had child locks fitted. All that said we would return to The Old Chapel as Bishop Wilton is such a lovely, tranquil place.

The Old Chapel in Bishop Wilton is a fantastic holiday cottage in a brilliant location. The property has been refurbished to a very high standard with great quality amenities. The living accommodation and kitchen are very tastefully decorated and designed, and the conversion of the Chapel is gorgeous the bedrooms are large and all beds comfortable and the property was very clean. The photos on the web site don’t do it justice in that the property is much bigger internally than the photos depict. Bishop Wilton is a lovely village, ideally situated for York, Whitby, Scarborough, and Sheffield, and all the delights that Yorkshire has to offer. The local shop was very good, had everything you would need, and you always received a warm welcome. The Fleece Inn, which is two minutes’ walk away, is a lovely pub with great food, excellent beer, and fantastic hospitality. The owners of the Old Chapel are extremely helpful and were able to provide a range of information about the local area and help us with some logistics when we stayed. This is truly a five star cottage in a marvellous location and we had a tremendous holiday, and can’t wait to go back next year (we rarely go back to places).

My husband, sister, brother in law and myself stayed in this wonderful cottage for one week of our annual summer holiday. The cottage is well furnished. The bedrooms are of a high standard with clean comfortable beds. The bathroom and separate toilet, were well stocked with complimentary toiletries. The open plan lounge/kitchen was very comfortable. The cottage has lovely views of the Yorkshire Wolds. It's wi fi connection was great and had a fairly decent mobile phone reception. We were blessed with great weather and made good use of the exceptional sunny courtyard and barbeque. It was hard to leave this lovely cottage in such a beautiful part of the country. The locals were friendly. The local pub - 'The Fleece Inn' is highly recommended, delicious hot food and generous servings. Well worth a visit.

A very tasteful conversation with nothing lacking in the way of facilities. Tea, milk, sugar, cake bottle of wine for us on arrival. Spotlessly clean. We stayed for two weeks and at the end of the first week, the cottage was cleaned, bedding and towels changed and all left in apple-pie order. Wonderful location; couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We had such a relaxing getaway in this delightful Chapel conversion. Everything is brand new, we were the first guests since it's renovation! The scenery is stunning with walking on the Wolds on the doorstep, York a stones throw and we even a day out at the coast. The food at the village pub (just a 2 min walk) was homemade & generous portions. We didn't have children with us but there were toys in the bunk room and plastic plates in the cupboards so we'll bring our Grandchildren back with us next time. Highly recommended.
