We enjoyed our stay in this beautifully located converted chapel.. Mary and Stuart were congenial hosts, and provided milk, cake and wine on our arrival. Many bird species spotted on the feeder, and hens running around nearby. Lovely!

We had a really lovely stay, the cottage is very cosy, we loved the log burner.. Unfortunately due to current circumstances we couldn't go for a drive out to surrounding areas but we were happy enough to enjoy a cosy break in the cottage. The bed was extremely comfortable and the whole place was spotless. The hosts were very friendly and we will definitely be back, it would be lovely to sit out in the summer soaking up the magnificent views.

Our holiday at The Old Chapel was fabulous and a perfect place to relax and unwind for a couple of days.. The chapel itself was full of character and little touches from Stuart and Mary that made us feel very welcome. There was everything you could have wanted in the kitchen and bathroom with regards to amenities. My favourite time of day was eating our breakfast overlooking the magnificient view and watching a large variety garden birds. I would highly recommend this holiday retreat and hope to one day come back.

February 2020
Lovely, quirky cottage with charming ecclesiastical architectural features, mezzanine upper floor with large comfy bed, very cosy wood burner and great views across Derbyshire.. TV with freeview, well equipped kitchen (with milk left for guests) and even a couple of home-made Bakewell tarts left for guests. Mary was there to meet us with the key when we arrived. Very friendly. Crich tramway village was closed during our stay (in late Feb) but we had a fab trip to Chatsworth, which is about 20-30 mins drive away - the afternoon tea there was superb. And drove to Castleton the day after (bit further - 50 mins) to fight the wind on top of Mam Tor, which was invigorating but great fun. Lots of maps and guide books in the house. Highly recommend.

The Old Chapel is a fantastic conversion into a holiday home.. Lots of thought has been put into making it a home from home, ideal for a couple looking for a quiet break. October 2018
The Chapel was a fabulous find and the owners could not have been more charming (especially as we arrived too early, ooppss! !!) Everything was laid on and the place was absolutely charming and immaculate along with the log fire which we used every evening even though the weather was warm. Just added to the charm of the place. The way the building has been renovated is superb with every space being used also this was featured on a Homes Under The Hammer episode which made it more interesting. Location was excellent. Very close to so many attractions and local pubs/restaurants etc. Very quiet location so absolute peace and quiet. We will certainly be returning in the not too distant future.

The love and care that the owners, Mary and Stuart, have for this lovely old building and their guests shines through in the extras that make The Old Chapel a perfect home for a memorable holiday.. It was a real treat to find wine as well as milk in the fridge, Mary's delicious home-made Bakewell tarts and handcream as well as soap in the bathroom and downstairs loo (which was a bonus in itself - you don't usually get 2 loos in a cottage for 2!). We appreciated the lovely view from the cottage even more as binoculars are provided, also perfect for bird watchers to spot the many visitors to the bird table. The fairy lights around the beams added to the special atmosphere of the cottage and we looked forward to returning to a comfortable, cosy home after days spent sightseeing.
Mr Tomlyn
July 2018
A beautiful location.. Mary and Stuart the property owners were very friendly and helpful. The Chapel is very well equipped with everything you need. The welcome goodies were a great surprise. So much to do and see in the area and great walks from the doorstep. Looking forward to returning soon.

June 2018
This was definitely one of our best holidays ever.. The location is just brilliant - near enough to loads of attractions but still sufficiently detached to be peaceful without feeling isolated. The views are outstanding and bird-lovers will be in heaven. Despite one of the hottest spells for years, we were always able to keep the cottage lovely and cool. Visitors just need to be aware that there is a spiral staircase although this should be obvious from the photos. Definitely one to come back to, as the colours in Autumn would be amazing!
Mrs Terry
June 2018
An excellent cottage, Stuart and Mary are genuinely welcoming and add little touches that surprise you.. The cottage itself is clean comfortable and placed for an excellent position to escape the world or to go explore the Derbyshire area, truly a little gem. One of the best we have visited over the years.

Very nice quiet location ideal base for exploring the area.. The owners met us upon arrival to show us around the property. It’s set out very nicely on the edge of their property with its own outside area. The road outside is very quiet ( I think we only saw 6 cars all week using it ) would recommend it and go their again.well worth it

May 2018
Such a fantastic holiday cottage! Has everything you could need and more, including tea/coffee/sugar/milk. Mary and Stuart are lovely hosts, greeting us with a bottle of wine and homemade Bakewell tarts. The cottage itself has wonderful character, the bed is super comfy, and the views from the patio are stunning, with easy access to many attractions locally. We would specifically recommend Crich Tramway Village, made to look like an old county cobbled village with vintage trams running all day. We will definitely recommend to friends, and will rebook ourselves!
Mr Toghill
May 2018
The cottage is in a rural setting, remote from the hustle and bustle of every day life.. It has a a panoramic view of the Amber valley and the wildlife on tap is a dream for nature lovers. The cottage itself is very cosy with all mod cons and a patio alongside, where you can enjoy the view and fresh air when the weather is fine. The Derbyshire Dales have something for everyone from quaint villages to busy little towns steeped in history.

We spent a week in this cottage in December 2016 and will be returning! The cottage is well equipped. The welcome package is excellent with milk, wine and home made Bakewell tarts for us. The surroundings are stunning and we also found a pub that we could walk to! Would definitely recommend! We loved having the wood burner and the cottage is very cosy which was perfect for those winter days and nights. We loved being able to easily travel in and around the Peak District from the cottage and nothing of interest was much more than 30 minutes away. I'm sure that this cottage is as relaxing all year round, but we particularly enjoyed staying here during winter time.

The cottage was extremely well-equipped and Mary was very welcoming, supplying some home baked Bakewell puddings and a nice bottle of wine for our first evening. The cottage was in a great location for exploring Derbyshire and the Peak District and was a really nice place to return to after a day out on the hills. My husband and I found our stay at The Old Chapel delightful and perfect for relaxing whilst visiting nearby places. The cottage had everything we needed making it feel like home from home. The owners, Mary and Stuart, are a very lovely couple, friendly but not intrusive. Home baked pies, flowers, and a bottle of wine in the fridge welcomed us when we arrived. In my opinion these are small details that makes one feel very welcome. We really enjoyed our week there and I was sorry to leave! The views from the cottage are amazing. I loved watching the birds feeding every morning from the living room window. I originate from Northern Spain and this part of England is very similar in so many ways, no wonder I felt at home! Mary has lots of useful information regarding walks and interesting places to visit. There are National Trust houses nearby with amazing walks. If the weather is cold and rubbish, light the fire in the lovely stove and curl up with a book!! honestly don't miss the opportunity to visit the chapel if you can, it is perfect for a couple.

August 2016
The cottage went beyond expectation, the views were outstanding.. The cottage had everything we needed and some very special extra touches like flowers and a welcome pack, bath foam, fairy lights, home cooked cake, wine, milk, washing up liquid, toilet rolls etc etc that other self catering places we have had to provide ourselves, even binoculars to watch the birds on the feeding station outside. The little garden with outdoor furniture was another special feature overlooking a magnificent view. I can't thank the owners, Mary and Stuart, enough for all they did to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The setting is amazing with pretty villages and walks around and driving distance of all Derbyshire has to offer. I just hope when we want to book again that it isn't full up as it's bound to get many repeat bookings.

From the moment we arrived we knew that we had booked the perfect accommodation. We arrived 45 mins early but nothing was too much trouble. The inside was spotlessly clean and it was fully equipped including all the little extras such as milk, wine and Bakewell treats! We settled in well and the attention to details such as binoculars to watch the birds added to the whole experience. I was blown away that I had the opportunity to stay in such a unique cottage. The kitchen was fully equipped and it enabled us to stay in and make our own food and stay snuggled up watching a DVD! Wifi included! Perfect cottage and perfect hosts - Thank you x

A beautiful cottage in an idyll setting .We received a warm greeting from the owners Stuart & Mary who gave us some good tips on the best eating places locally. Mary also provided us with a welcome pack which included some of her homemade Bakewell Tarts, most agreeable . The cottage itself is very tastefully modernised without loosing it's authentic feel. We were very lucky with unseasonably good sunny weather so we were able to sit on the patio & enjoy the stunning view. It did get cool in the evening but the central heating was more than adequate to keep us warm & cosy. A place we will definitely return to.
