We were thrilled on arrival by the standard of this cottage, clean, comfortable, well fitted out and located. Cleanliness is a big issue for us and the Nook was perfect in that respect. It was also comfortable because good quality furniture had been used by the owners. The loudest sound here was the birdsong, we were happy in this respect particularly while sitting in the delightful courtyard garden, a haven of relaxation. On our next Peak District visit we will be staying at the Nook again, if we can get a booking that is for it is justifiably busy.

Very Comfortable accommodation .. Excellently clean with all facilities that we needed . Loved the lean too outside porch and garden for sitting in during the evenings . Location was excellent near the centre of the scenic village of Longstone , with the Monsal trail 500 metres down the lane . The owners were extremely helpful and went out of there way to make us welcome .

The cottage was absolutely lovely! It was so clean and fresh and had everything you would need and the owners left a very generous selection of welcome foods. Would highly recommend it to anyone and would love to stay there again one day. Many thanks.

Immaculate, well-stocked accommodation with a lovely, compact, private garden perfect for relaxing in with a good book and a glass of wine which we did often, even when it rained, as there is an adjoining terrace with a roof.. Sylvia was a great host who provided cake, biscuits, milk and other useful bits and pieces for our stay. She advised us about local walks and drives round the area which we really enjoyed. The village is pretty with two good pubs and is very close to the Monsal Trail. There is so much to do here and we only just saw a few of the highlights but would love to come back and explore further. The Nook is a great base for a holiday and we would highly recommend it.

The Nook was without exception a lovely place to stay, warm, comfortable and it had everything you would want in a holiday cottage.. Great Longstone is a lovely village with many walks available from the cottage and of course it is to be found in a beautiful part of the Peak District. There are two very friendly pubs on the doorstep that offer lovely food and have very friendly staff. The Nook is definitely worth a visit and I would like to thank Sylvia for her welcoming pack and kind hospitality. We will definitely be back.

The Nook in Great Longstone, Peak District is an excellent holiday cottage.. Very well equipped and furnished and well located as a base to explore the Peak District. There was a nice unexpected welcome of milk, bread, butter and chocolate cake and ample provision of practical basics like toilet roll, washing up liquid etc. Also lots of leaflets and books on places to visit. The village has 2 excellent pubs, with a 3rd an easy 15 minute walk down the road or across the fields to Little Longstone. It's also a short walk from the Monsal trail, and around 3 miles from Bakewell on foot, by bus or by car. A peaceful and relaxing break which we would recommend to friends.

The Nook is located in a quaint little town.. There are 2 lovely pubs within walking distance and the food at both was incredible. We seemed to be in a great location too as it did not take too long to travel to the destinations we wished to visit during our stay. The host Sylvia was lovely. We were shown around the property when we arrived and shown how to use the heating and the remote control lighting. The bread, cake, milk, snacks and a range of hot beverages that were present on arrival was a nice added touch as it saved us having to go groceries shopping after a long drive up from London. I couldn't fault the property or the host, we really enjoyed our stay here and hope to visit again real soon. Saba Ahmadi

The accommodation has been recently furnished and decorated so is extremely clean and well presented. The location is great- close to the Monsal Trail and only 3 miles from Bakewell. Walks and cycle rides are on your doorstep. There are 2 pubs which serve good food a 2 minute walk away. I can thoroughly recommend this property.

The Nook is a spotlessly clean and very comfortable and cosy holiday home with all the facilities you could need.. A perfect retreat after a days walking or sightseeing for a couple or family of 3 or 4. The peaceful village location is perfect for easy access to all areas of the Peak District And Derbyshire Dales. There are miles of walking and cycling trails virtually on the doorstep with the Monsal Trail as stonesthrow away and Castleton and the Derwent and Ladybower reservours just a short drive away. We very much hope to stay in The Nook again when we next visit the area.

A lovely retreat to return to after walking for miles in this beautiful area.. Lovely big shower and bathroom, comfortable beds. The open plan layout downstairs was spacious and cool when the weather outside was scorching hot. Sylvia greeted us and gave us a tour and had left lots of useful toiletries and essentials, not to mention a luxury chocolate cake! A short stroll takes you to the little village shop and a couple of pubs for an evening meal and a cold beer. The Monsal Trail was a short walk, cycle away and lead to many interesting places if you're up for a steep climb or two. The Monsal Head ice cream wagon was so welcome at the top of the steps. I did hire a bike to cycle with my son - but had to buy a gel saddle cover to get me through the week! Perfect really!

Fabulous cottage in a peaceful location but everything almost on the doorstep.. Spent time walking and cycling the Monsal Trail, walking Dovedale and a visit to Hardwick Hall, and it was lovely to come back to the cottage at the end of the day, The Crispin was very friendly and did lovely food. The cottage is a credit to the owners, Sylvia and David who have truly thought of everything. Also thank you so much for the delicious cake and bread :-)

3 of us stayed here and it is absolutely superb. It is very light and bright with a lovely open plan living area. There are 2 outside seating areas which during the summer would be lovely. The owners left us bread, butter, cake, milk and toiletries which were very welcome. The area is lovely and only a 3 mile walk into Bakewell. The 2 pubs in the village are good.

We really enjoyed staying at The Nook - excellent quality, cosy, comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. We loved the sheltered outside seating area and the delightful little courtyard garden. The spacious bathroom and fabulous shower were also great. The cottage was in a peaceful location, yet close to two pubs and the village shop. There were walks around this wonderful area from the door, and the welcome scones and other thoughtful provisions were much appreciated. The booking process was simple, and Sylvia was very helpful with directions and any any other info we needed. I'm sure we will return - thank you.

The Nook is quiet & clean, brandnew.. Nice patio-with-a-roof. Everything you need is there, even a washing machine. Welcome with scones and jam. Lots of space, even for four adults. Perfect beds. It's not just a cottage, it's a palace! Price is friendly for what you get!

June 2017
My husband and I have stayed in many holiday cottages and clearly this cottage we rate as top of the list.. Sylvia and David where close at hand if we had any concerns or queries. We didn't. The cottage was immaculate, ref bathroom, toilets, lounge, kitchen and obviously bedroom with white bed linen and not hideously coloured linen which some cottages use. The cottage is easily accessed via a short lane off the Main Street. There are two pubs close by (5 minute walk) we only used the Crispin Pub which was friendly serving good food. "The Nook" next to the owners house "The Timbers" is an excellent holiday cottage and we would recommend to anyone visiting the area to book early. Derek & Geraldine.

A really beautiful cottage in a beautiful village.. The accommodation was large, warm (we went in a cold March, so this was very important) and comfortable with attention given to every detail. The owners were friendly and happy to help but not at all intrusive. The nearby Monsal trail gives ample opportunity for walking and cycling. We look forward to returning soon.

We have just stayed at The Nook and it is a wonderful property. Lovely open plan downstairs, 2 bedrooms upstairs with a large bathroom. It was very clean and nice decor.
