Set within twenty acres of estate grounds, this cottage embraces the Devon countryside idyll. Wandering the grounds you’ll find a stocked Course lake and the tumbling Little Dart River if fly fishing is more your thing. Shared gardens have lawns for kids to run around on and a barbecue area for sunny summer dinners. The cottage itself has its own patio, looking out towards the forest. Part of an old farm steading, it still retains some traditional features like a slate floor and cast-iron wood-burner in the heart of the living room. Spend the evening cuddled up by the fire inside, or perhaps head to the pretty Saxon village of Chulmleigh (just over a mile away) and find a cosy country pub.
Home truths: *The nearest town is just over twenty minutes on foot so a car is advised
*Fishing on the grounds is free and requires landing nets and barbless hooks
*The owners live on the estate and there are a few holiday cottages converted from the one barn
*You might be woken by the sound of sheep bleating in the adjoining field
*The walled garden with picnic benches and barbecue area is shared with the other cottages
