Belford is an ancient village, having been in existence since before medieval times. The centre of the village is the market square with its cross dating back around 300 years. Today it is a quiet village which gives visitors easy access to the Northumberland Coast, the Cheviot Hills and the Scottish Borders. Belford itself has a variety of smaller interesting shops as well as the usual shops and facilities available in a large village. During the month of August, a continental market takes place in the centre of the village and gives it a real carnival atmosphere. Overlooked by the magnificent 18th century Belford Hall and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village is Belford Golf Club, a 9-hole golf course which features a driving range, motorised cart hire and excellent bar facilities.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

A beautiful cottage that was ideal for my Dad who has mobility problems.. Also, a lovely welcome with cakes and prosseco left for our arrival. Great for visiting Northumberland with Lindisfarne practically on your doorstep. Overall so good we booked again for August.

Great cottage in a lovely location very close to A1 for getting anywhere fast but far enough away to be deep in the countryside.. The cottage was bigger than it looked in the pictures. We were isappointed as two couples sharing one had a superking sized bed ensuite with slippers and gowns and the other had a very small double and no slippers or gowns. It was hard to decide who had what room as we had both paid the same. The daft thing was the double room was way big enough for a large bed or zip linked twin. Also drinks fridge was switched off and we couldn't find how to get it to come on despite instructions from the owner. Apart from that a great place to stay!

Stayed here in October, in a group of 4 adults and 2 children. The cottage was stylishly furnished, well equipped, and very warm and comfortable. The combination of underfloor heating and a log burning stove was simply wonderful. The grounds of Middleton Hall were beautiful, and even had a kingfisher flying round the lake! We had a sneak peep at the other properties in the grounds, and they looked equally stylish, especially the boathouse The owners provided fresh home made scones, an almond cake and even a bottle of bubbly for us. Would highly recommend it.

We had a super time in The Lake Cottage, which was lovely. With the lakes for fishing and the grounds for walking, it was a really peaceful location.

This cottage was beautiful! The furnishings and decor were lovely and well thought out. Upon arrival we found homemade scones and cava, my husband loved the scones! The situation of the cottage is perfect, it's a quiet location yet close to all the local attractions. We would certainly come here again, it was faultless.

Lake Cottage was a wonderful home from home - everything had been thought of to make it so. It was comfortable and cosy and I imagine in the winter would be very warm and cosy. A really enjoyable holiday for us all.

The Lake Cottage is beautiful and the surrounding areas quiet and tranquil you couldn't ask for a more beautiful location. It's central to visit lots of great places in Northumberland. Spotlessly clean and the underfloor heating keeps you warm throughout the building. We will definitely be going back again.

The cottage was absolutely perfect! Very cosy, clean and provided well beyond the expected - lots of lovely little touches - more like a self catering boutique hotel. The cottage is in a beautiful setting and you could easily spend a few hours exploring the grounds of the hall. The owners were great for local tourist information.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Very lovely hosts who greeted us with delicious cake scones! An excellent location and very much suited having a child in the party.
