The Knowe lower was a clean property, however the bathroom is in definite need of a makeover.. The property was comfortable, however there were young children in the upper property, and on hard floors it was quite noisy at times. We were also disappointed to find that the village pub described in the property information as within walking distance is currently shut and the nearest pub where dogs are welcome is 9 miles away.

The owner was very welcoming and apologetic that there were no soft furnishings due to the corona virus, that was quite understandable but did not really matter too much as we enjoyed the holiday immensely.. Would certainly recommend the property as it is in a lovely setting and in a quiet location

Just arrived back home from the lower Knowe in Taynuilt. It was a lovely flat and spotlessly clean. The garden was large and great for kids, dogs and adults. The owner was so friendly and helpful and lived nest to the house so easy to reach if needed. It was right in the centre of a lovely village with a few shops and located on Loch Etive within walking distance a two piers for fishing a short distance apart and beautiful views both ways down the loch. Oban is a short drive and Inveraray with its beautiful castle and numerous gift shops is 40 mins away. Glen Coe and Fort William are also an easy good day out from here. The weather was not good for us but we had a great time and will definitely book the Knowe again and recommend it to others.

We arrived at Knowe Lower after a long drive up from North Wales so we were really pleased to find everything we needed for a very pleasant welcome - tea, coffee, milk, tea cakes and even a bottle of wine.. The cottage was clean and comfortable with fresh bedding and lovely fluffy towels. We were also situated a few steps from the village centre shops - grocers, butchers and post office - all offering excellent service. The cottage garden was secluded and restful - especially after a day exploring this beautiful part of Scotland. I hope we will come back one day.

The property was ideal, probably the best we have stayed in.. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good so we couldn't make use of the amazing garden, but our dog enjoyed running around it each mornImg, the only criticism was the area hasn't got many eating places without having to travel a few miles.

The Welcome goodies were unexpected and a lovely surprise.. The accommodation was spotless and well-equipped, and the garden was a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. The owner visited to introduce himself and make sure we had everything we needed, and it was nice to have local shops and The Taynuilt Inn so close to the property. We will definitely book again for next year!

The accommodation was very well furnished with tasteful decor and our score for comfort would have been much higher if we had found the mattress on the double bed suited us better.. Unfortunately, we could feel the springs and it was too firm and unforgiving for our elderly bones! A mattress topper would have made all the difference. Sadly, this spoilt what would have otherwise been excellent accommodation and we really appreciated the warm friendly welcome and welcome pack.

Booked this accommodation to spend Hogmanay with family in Taynuilt. I honestly cant recommend enough, it is exactly as described, Its warm, clean and everything you could possibly need is supplied. Even down to some baking equipment .Spacious enough for our wee grandson to move around. Was also pleased that a welcome pack containing milk tea coffee sugar and tea cakes had been left but the extra touch of prosecco and biscuits was lovely. The location in village is brilliant, although we didn't do much touring only a trip into Oban I can see how it would be a great base for people to explore. I will definitely be booking again and recommending to other family members. Many thanks Iain

I can and would recommend both Sykes cottage but also the wonderful accommodation The Knowe Lower in Taynuilt which we rented.. Sykes Holiday Cottage site was easy to use. I found the accommodation in the area that we wanted. Booked and paid for it on line. We than received confirmation emails, and details for making contact with the house owner to pick up key. On arrival we were delighted with everything, the location in the village, the house was just as described it was clean, warm and spacious, everything we needed was there, pleased to even find baking bowls etc. We were also so touched at the welcome pack - milk, tea , sugar and the extra touch prosecco and shortbread. Many thanks to Iain the owner, we were using house as a base to stay in for new year, whilst spending time with family in village over new year, but it is an ideal location for people wanting to see the surrounding area. Will definitely use again.

I would like to say that the owners of the cottage were welcoming and friendly and they had thoughtfully supplied a welcome pack which included tea ,coffee ,tea cakes ,milk in the fridge and a much appreciated bottle of prosecco Everyone that we Met in the village were also chatty and friendly.. The local shop had everything that you could require .There is also a local post office and a very nice tea room. But unfortunately we did have some problems which we found to be very disappointing. On arrival we discovered that the gas fire didn’t work but the issue was resolved very speedily and the gas fitter arrived on the Sunday morning and fixed it.We found the beds very hard and uncomfortable, there was a lot of mould in the bathroom and the kitchen cupboards housing the cutlery and other cooking utensils smelt dreadfully of mould and damp.We did point this out to the owner so hopefully something will be done to rectify it but it was very off putting in fact the smell was so overpowering every time you opened the doors that I ended up leaving the things that I used out on the table after I had washed everything before use. As this was my first experience of your holiday facilities I did find it overall disappointing.

Had a lovely one week stay at the Lower Knowe. It is an ideal base for sight seeing with beautiful walks straight from the cottage to Loch Etive and Aird's bay. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go back !

The Knowe Lower was very comfortable and had everything we needed.. It was very clean and well presented and in an ideal setting with a lovely garden. The village itself was very useful with its ameneties and Grahams the Grocers had everything you could ever need and open long hours. All in all a very good holiday and The welcome gift of Prosecco, milk rea and coffee was very much appreciated. Thank you very much.

Very comfortable and clean property.. The owners live next door if you need to know anything. Also all the shops we went into in Taynuilt village were only too pleased to see you and were very friendly and they didn't charge exorbitant prices. The actual area is absolutely beautiful. When we went to Oban on the Sunday the sun was shining brightly and it was so bright and colourful everywhere with the CalMac boats going off to the Islands. Word of warning - book in advance if you want to go to Mull. We had various days out up and down the coast and the scenery is simply breathtaking. Also made a nostalgic trip to Inveraray which my late Mum had loved so much.

Holiday at Lower Knowe was amazing.. The cottage had everything we needed and more. The owners had left us a bottle of Prosecco and also fresh milk, tea, coffee and sugar. Facilities were great, couldn't get over how much room there was, we felt right at home. Cottage was very clean and tidy and very cosy. Village is amazing, all you need right on the doorstep and the people who live there were so welcoming. Ian and Shirley, the owners were great, we just had to phone if we needed anything, but everything was there so we didn't have to phone. Our 2 dogs loved their holiday too, they settled in to cottage no problem and enjoyed all the lovely walks close by. Easy travelling distance to Oban, which was a definite plus for us.

Stayed here for my mum's 60th as The Knowe has some wonderful family connections for us. The owners were wonderful and even brought Mum balloons on her birthday. Would recommend a picnic by the Loch, about a half hr walk away, stunning views. The local butcher is excellent and we enjoyed a BBQ in the garden.

The Knowe(lower) felt like a home from home for the week we spent there.. It's really cozy and comfortable and had all the essentials needed for our family of 4. Iain was very welcoming and helpful and we were really impressed upon arrival to find a bottle of fizz waiting for us. Would definitely recommend and return again.

We'd a wonderful week in the cottage with our family.. We enjoyed the warm welcome. We also got a welcoming dring and some milk for our first coffee in the accomodation. Many thanks for this! We'd several days out in the beautiful landscape. One of the most exiting and breathtaking trip we ever had was on Iona! The weather was brilliant and we could feel the special spirit and peace at this amazing island. We also can recommend a walk down to Loch Etive, the Bonawe Iron Fernance and to the smokehouse at the Inverawe House. On the way there is a distinctive suspension bridge that spans the River Awe. You should not miss this walk. Thank you for a beautiful and unforgettable week of our holiday. The Bertels Family from North Germany.
