Stayed October half term week - owner very thorough regarding cleaning and COVID. Cottage is very cosy with excellent amenities, lovely coal fires on an evening playing cards and board games was a welcome change from watching endless drivel on TV. Nice walk from the back of the cottage up to Simonstone and to Hardraw Beck. Asygarth and Hardraw were in full flow due the amount of rain which resulted in both being very dramatic. NIce walk into Hawes on a couple of occasions and used "The Chippie" which was excellent. Lovely place to explore Wensleydale

We felt welcome the moment we stepped though the door at The Homestead.. The cottage is spacious, well-equipped and full of touches that make it feel homely. It was also lovely and warm which had been a concern being away in a stone cottage in October. We particularly loved sitting by the toasty Rayburn with a crossword over breakfast and the beautiful walks straight from the front and back doors. The clear night-time sky full of stars was magical. It was a truly lovely place to stay.

Homestead is a really lovely cottage, comfortable and homely with plenty of room.. It's right next to the Green Dragon pub, which is great for food and drink, and is surrounded by beautiful walks. If you don't want to drive there is a lovely walk to Hawes, and a nice walk out the back of the house up into the hills. Simonstone Hall is about 1/4 of a mile walk up the hill, and is great to walk up to for a drink, or for a slightly more upmarket meal out.

The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and the host went out of her way to help (getting high chairs and fire guards for our toddlers).. The location was brilliant with plenty of walks from the front door and a pub just next door. Just a couple of minutes from Hardraw falls and right on the Pennine way. It felt very homely with photo albums and a cupboard full of games. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and clean. We would highly recommend and hope to stay again.

The house is old and full of character but has everything required for a great stay.. It has a modern kitchen but also an Aga in the kitchen which gives out plenty of heat and makes the house cosy [and which dries your wet gear really quickly!] The rooms are spacious and warm, the beds are comfy and it is so quiet and peaceful here. If you like walking the house is ideally situated for several lovely walks right from the door and many more within a short car ride, plus the access to Hardraw Force [100ft waterfall] is right next door, set in an awesome natural amphitheatre. I would definitely recommend this house for anyone who enjoys beautiful countryside and walking or cycling holidays.

The house is right on top of the beautiful Hardraw Force so we listened to the waterfall at night.. So lovely. Everywhere was very clean and comfortable and made for a really happy holiday. There is plenty to see and do in the area. The Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes was very interesting and good value and the Scarecrow Festival in Kettlewell was superb.

The Homestead was a truly beautiful cottage, in a stunning location.. We felt a real sense of calm and peace when we walked through the door. The property was very clean and we had lovely views of the countryside across the hills from both the kitchen and smaller back bedroom. We have just returned from a week in Hardraw and what a perfect village and just a few minutes drive from Hawes. The Green Dragon pub/restaurant was next door, but really wasn't a problem noisewise. A must to do is visit the Hardraw Force Waterfull, which is located just behind the pub, this was featured in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. We would definitely return to the Homestead when we are next planning a holiday in the Yorkshires Dales. Thank you Karen and Guy, you have a really beautiful home.

The cottage is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you could think of/ need.. The owner even left a Easter gift for each of our sons which was so thoughtful. It's a great location for either walking or exploring the area. If you are stuck for ideas of what to do there is plenty of information or recommendations. For the comfy nights in there is a great selection of games/ books for all ages. We have stayed at a number of cottages around the are over the last 30 years and this cottage is the best! We will definitely be returning.

"The Homestead" is recently renovated, modern, and well equipped, including kitchen appliances, tools and good cookware (a set of measuring spoons was all we found missing.. ) The cottage is both comfortable and well located. The pub couldn't be closer, but noise wasn't in any way a problem, nor was pub traffic parking obstructive at any time. The views were pleasant and we were able to watch border collies being trained on the pasture uphill behind the cottage. By coincidence we were present on the one weekend of the year when the Brass Band Competition was held. Although traffic on the road was increased and parking was a bit more in demand, we had no problems whatsoever. Our group of 4 enjoyed our week and would return.

We stayed at the Homestead Cottage in Hardraw.. This cottage is 5 Star. It is large and roomy with three lovely bedrooms. There is no shortage of equipment. Everything has been thought of. We have been visiting The Yorkshire Dales for the past 25 years and this is the best cottage we have ever stayed in.

The cottage was lovely, very comfortable, spacious and with everything we needed, especially for cooking.. The cot (with bedding) and highchair provided for our 10 month old were very nice, and they had a nice selection of books/games/DVDs to keep us busy when the weather was rubbish! The location is great, and the walk to Hawes over the Pennine Way is nice and easy but very scenic. The photo album of the cottage through the years was interesting to look at too, and nice to see how it has changed over the years. We will definitely be booking again for next year!

We loved staying at The Homestead because as soon as we walked through the front door we felt relaxed and at home. The location is superb and we love walking across the fields to do our shopping in Hawes. It's a fantastic base from which to walk and cycle. The countryside is stunning and we have already planned our return visit next year with the 'Three Peaks Challenge' firmly in mind and a cycle up to 'The Buttertubs'. The owners had made The Homestead a very welcoming place for us to be.

The house was beautifully furnished, very clean and was perfect for our requirements. There was everything we needed there plus extra touches. The situation is beautiful and we enjoyed being next to the pub as we were a mixed family group with my two younger brothers who spent a lot of time there! Many thanks to the owners. We hope to return and would certainly recommend the cottage.

We have had a lovely week away at Homestead. The cottage is so homely and very well equipped. Nothing was missing. We loved the fires and being winter, they warmed the house really well. The beds were so comfy we had several late lie ins! We travelled as a family which included our 85 year old mother who was so comfortable we could barely get her to leave the cottage. There are good walks right from the cottage door, what more could anyone want from a holiday?

A beautiful house in a superb location. Large rooms, all nicely furnished and selflessly clean. The rear paddock leads straight up to Shunner Fell, wonderful. We spent a week there and were fortunate with the weather. House is well equipped and the Rayburn is a joy on a chilly morning. No criticisms at all!

The location of the property was really good with a number of good walking routes available from the front door. Having the pub close by was great if you did not want to cook as the food was substantial and very tasty. The internal layout was well arranged and decoration of the property was to a high standard, especially the master bedroom. We are a family of 6 and we all had a great time and felt very comfortable in the cottage as soon as we entered it. The kids were never bored while indoors and because it snowed while we were there they had a great time sledding down the hill in the paddock at the back of the cottage. The owner was very helpful and easy to deal with during all of our correspondence. All in all a great February short break.
