The cottage was lovely and cosy, perfect for the few nights we were staying.. The sofa was a little uncomfortable to sit on as was the rattan chair, for the cost of the property for the 3 nights we expected a few more logs, we were only provided enough for 1 fire and weren’t made aware of where we could get more. Also we were only provided with 1.5 rolls of toilet paper, over the 3 nights with 4 people, it just wasn’t enough, again, with the price of the property little things like this was lacking. On the plus, the welcome basket with loaf of bread, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits were a lovely touch, the cottage was very clean and tidy and warm over all and the instructions to get into the property were spot on, no issues with that. The village of Nunney was delightful and we got to explore it when storm Dennis finally disappeared and we went for dinner at the local pub which was also lovely and welcoming. We would book again.

The information from sykes was up to date and provided quickly.. Also appreciated the second email with a reminder of key collection e.t.c. I would book a holiday with sykes again, but unfortunately the cottage itself did not meet our expectations. It was in a lovely village, beautiful position next to the castle and the pub round the corner was excellent! First impressions were of a idyllic cottage, quaint and cosy, but it had not been cleaned particularly well from the last guests. We arrived and went to make a cup of tea - there was a green, circular thing in the kettle - we were unsure if it was some sort of a limescale remover, if it should be in there or not in there and quite how long it had been in there - if it should be there, maybe they need to let people know with the information they provide in the cottage. So we used a pan to boil our water instead - after cleaning it, as there was old food stuck to the inside of it. I also had to sort through the mugs in the cupboard to find ones that were clean, as old food was stuck to the inside of some of them too and a lot of them were chipped. There were also food stains on the blankets on the chairs in the front room, which looked as though they would probably come off if they were washed. The larger bedroom also had short hairs all over one of the pillows, as it was the second pillow down, it looked like they had just switched pillows over to put the clean one on top. On top of that I shook the duvet before getting into bed and two dead spiders and a lot of dust came flying out. My mum slept in the other bedroom and the underside of her duvet was covered in a lot of long black hairs, (not just one or two), again it appeared the duvet had just been flipped over from the last guests. As well as that she had an old tissue under the bed from previous guests. Also surprised that they supply two loo rolls but expect you to replace what you have used ready for the next guests. It was a shame the cleanliness was not up to scratch, as it was a lovely place and in a perfect position for us. That is also the only reason the facilities were marked low, because we felt we had to clean things to use them and felt unclean getting into the beds. If it was cleaned properly it would have been perfect and received excellent feedback.

Lovely little village with its own Castle just up the road, such a pleasant surprise! Really a delightful place. Very peaceful, just right for a restful break.

· The location was excellent - beautiful, secluded and a perfect getaway.. Nunney itself is well positioned for travel to outlying areas such as Glastonbury, Stonehenge, Salisbury and so forth. The cottage is well stocked with cooking equipment, books and DVDs, and there is on-street parking outside or nearby. The castle at the end of the small street is a definite bonus! · There were some touches that took a bit of the shine off the place: - The guest book was filled with people praising the warm welcome from Flo and her husband, and this meant that we felt a bit short-changed as there was no such welcome for us. - The instructions for getting the keys and getting past the door code were not sent to us, leading to me calling the company that runs the place and having to wait while it was all worked out before getting in. - The bathroom was made for very small people. To appreciate the bath you needed to be 5' or less, and the shower was only an attachment to the bath with no screen, so there was no way to stand to have a shower. The toilet dripped internally. - It is an old place, so the doors throughout don't shut too well, and thus there's absolutely no privacy for conversations anywhere. - The walls in the main bedroom had been repainted, but the bed hadn't been moved to allow it so the painting stopped just behind the headboard, which was a shame given the care that had gone into the rest of the place. The side cabinet was similarly painted only a certain way inside, for the sake of appearance rather than a complete job. - The only things that were provided were a lot of cleaning things, an almost finished container of hand soap and two toilet rolls. A little more in that department would have been appreciated, as it meant that one of the first jobs was to go out and get more things to stock up, such as soap etc.

There was just one problem.. There were three if us staying there,my wife and I and my sister. Some toilet paper would have been appreciated. Four sheets between three if us for a week? To be fair I think this was just an oversight, and aoart from this everything was really fine. A lovely cottage in a beautiful village!

An enjoyable stay at this quaint concealed cottage, within a couple of minutes walk from the castle.. On our arrival, Flo & Terry were waiting to greet us & showed us around downstairs & left us a vase of flowers, which was a nice touch. Due to its age, there is a slight fusty smell, even in the hot weather. Therefore we felt that the property could do with a freshen up, with new carpets, (main bedroom & lounge carpets both had stains) plus a new sofa & chair in order to avoid having throws over the furniture, which were too warm in the heat & untidy looking. Flo pointed out that there was a brand new hob & oven, as well as other new kitchen appliances, so some improvements have begun. The garden is secluded & peaceful, but again needs some tlc to enhance its appearance, as parts are overgrown. Again, it just needs tidying up & a few pots with flowering plants would help to brighten it up & make it more welcoming. Overall a pleasant stay with time to relax in this sleepy village. If you need WiFi to help plan your days out, forget it as the place is deliberately without this facility & depending on your network provider, there can be no service.

The cottage is located in a charming village with a castle at the end of the street! Flo who greeted us on arrival and showed us around the cottage was a truly amazing person who made us feel so welcomed. The cottage is in an ideal location to visit the surrounding areas and this enabled us to see Bath, Bradford on Avon, Salisbury and Devizes among others. It has a lovely little garden to sit in either to enjoy breakfast before heading out or to sit in with a drink on your return!!

Cosy cottage - the log burning stove was delightful during the very miserable weather we had at the time. This cottage is better equipped than our home! The castle just up the street is a wonderful old ruin and the whole village is quintessentially what you would expect from an English village largely unspoilt by time.
