It's a good, clean, functional space.. I can understand why others might have issues with the shower - power shower it isn't - but we'd read up and are used to country living, so this met our expectations. We were given plenty of firewood and were warm and comfortable on a long wet weekend of walking and biking. We were well looked after.

The house was cosy and provided everything we needed.. The photos of the view didn't do it justice, the location was so much more beautiful in person. The house is in a very rural location so wouldn't be for everybody but was exactly what we wanted. We arrived to fresh cake in the fridge and where also pleased to find that the TV was connected to the wifi which meant we could watch Netflix in the evenings. A couple of things to note is that the shower water pressure wasn't very good & the smoke alarm in the kitchen got set off a couple of times when we where cooking even though we had the extractor fan switched on - other than this i'd highly recommend!

The general comfort of the cottage was great beds really good sofas good but the things I would like to point out is the shower was absolutely terrible no pressure also it was disappointing that the woodburner glass was broken on one of the doors which then made the whole cottage smokey and made it unusable and we booked it to enable us to have this.. The other negative was that dogs are not allowed on the garden which means you have to walk up the road each time which isn't ideal first and last thing, I wouldn't have booked it had i realised. The views are truly stunning from the cottage tho and although quite remote a lovely setting. Being welcomed with a gorgeous cake and milk on arrival. Will definately be returning to the Lakes as only touched the surface with gorgeous walks.

The Granary is a lovely cottage with open plan living area and all rooms are really big.. The views are incredible from the patio and gravelled area beyond. On arrival there was a homemade Victoria sponge cake and jug of milk which was lovely! The kitchen has everything you need and a large fridge freezer, and we had Asda deliver shopping to the cottage soon after we arrived - very worthwhile! There were only 2 slight negatives to this property - the beds are really firm and we all found that our backs ached after a few nights. Although this property is advertised as dog friendly, our host told us not to let them use the garden as a loo and to take them for a walk. Everywhere else I’ve stayed, we’ve only been asked to pick up after our dogs which we would do anyway. When you’re on holiday, the last thing you feel like doing is taking a walk along the road with 2 lively dogs several times a day! Despite the loveliness of the property and location, had we known about this rule, we wouldn’t have stayed here. There is livestock everywhere and walking in the area was almost impossible unless dogs were on leads. In the Duddon valley below, we found lovely riverside spots to chill next to. Also, Silecroft beach is great for dogs or a beach horse ride!

The Granary was a great place to stay.. Cottage is equipped in everything a family with children may need - the kitchen especially. Rooms in the cottage are very spacious and bed/bedding is of a good quality. This together with the place being kept lovely and warm made out early April stay very pleasant. Log burner adds another lovely aspect to a relaxing stay. The views are breath taking!
Please be prepared for a digital detox once in Lake District in general as the phone reception is not great however The Granary does have Wi-Fi so you can catch up on your daily fix in the evenings if needs be!
Overall, we have had a great stay with 3 children and a dog. Highly recommend The Granary for your Lake District base.

The absolute perfect place to come back after a day of entertaining the kids. It's quiet, beautiful and has the most amazing views. The cottage is very well equipped and if you are ever short of anything the owners are just next door. The kids enjoyed exploring the farm and getting lost in the fields. It is a very safe place, so need to worry. Hope you all get to visit, it's truly amazing.

We particularly liked the quiet and peaceful location, it's scenic beauty and lovely walks close by. The views from the farm were spectacular. The cottage was comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The wood burner was cosy in the evenings. There were also interesting places to visit quite near by. Outside was a nice patio area for BBQ's etc. We received a warm welcome from the owner and a delicious cake and some milk. It was a great get-away-from-it-all holiday. We even heard, then saw a cuckoo.

The property was far more spacious than evident from the photographs and the view was also much more impressive than the photograph on the website.
