The Gatehouse is a lovely semi-detached cottage in Middleham. With two en-suite bedrooms, a zip/link king-size double and a double, it sleeps four people comfortably. The cottage also has a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with woodburner. Outside, there is an enclosed courtyard garden with patio and furniture and off road parking for two cars . A superb cottage, ideal for a romantic break, a touring base to explore Wensleydale, or somewhere to just relax and enjoy the many delights of this ever-popular area.

Accomodation Details
Two ground floor bedrooms with TV and en-suite shower, basin and WC: 1 x king-size double (zip/link, can be twin on request), 1 x double. Kitchen with dining area. First floor sitting room with woodburner.

Area
The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London.

Region
From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Logs only inc. in rent for stove from start of October to end of March. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Enclosed courtyard garden with patio and furniture. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 2 mins walk, pub 1 min walk. Note: Only logs are provided for the stove from October to March. Firelighters and kindling can be purchased locally. Outside of these months guests must provide their own logs, firelighters and kindling. Note: Logs will be provided between November 2020 and March 2021. Note: Short break bookings must start or end on a Friday

A beautiful cottage in our favourite location.. Never knew this little gem was hidden in the market square. The owners are friendly and helpful. Even though the weather was not good, we managed to fit in a long walk each day and enjoy our acommodation each evening. Another plus was seeing Le Toure of Yorkshire on Sunday. We will certainly return to The Coach House later this year! Highly recommended.

The house was lovely and the owners really nice and very helpful.. The house was well equipped and situated in a lovely village with good amenities. Middleton is easy to get to and was well situated to have easy access to go out and about exploring the area. We would certainly go back to The Grove.

A lovely cottage, good access to the village which has a general shop, pubs serving food and some beautiful walks.. It is really hard to find accommodation to suit two couples, this has two double bedrooms and two en suites, it is very well equipped - everything you want for a long weekend away.

A friendly welcome and tour of the property by the owner.. The cottage was very warm and comfortable. It is close to pubs and restaurants. There are several walks from the door.Also there is a bus service to Leyburn, Richmond and Ripon. Wi-fi performed well.

Our first time in the Dales and we loved our week roaming across the countryside. Very impressed with Sykes Cottages but even more impressed with the outstanding quality of this accommodation. We were welcomed by Roger on arrival who was friendly, thorough and informative..........he even helped us to unpack. Thank you. This property is beautiful, spacious, well appointed and equipped. Value for money, excellent. We couldn't believe additional cleaning materials, toilet rolls, ............... The wood burner is a first for us and we loved it! The outside space is impressive too.

Delightful, comfortable cottage. Owners helpful and friendly and the location superb. Wonderful to see the horses going through village up to the gallops every day. Thoroughly enjoyed our week at the gate house and the area around Middleham has some great scenic rides out.

All in all we enjoyed an excellent break in the Dales. The owner of our accommodation was very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The food served to us at the nearby Black Bull pub in Middleham was of an excellent standard.

We spent a wonderful week at The Gatehouse in Middleham in August 2014. The cottage was of the highest standard and was so comfortable. The 2 en suite bathrooms were fantastic, the kitchen immaculate, the lounge and beds very comfortable. The owner met us when we arrived, and very kindly helped carry our bags from the car, gave us all the information we needed about the cottage, and also some terrific recommendations of where to eat in Middleham and of some local attractions. The cottage was very private and quiet, despite being very near the main square, and so extremely well situated and convenient for everything. There was a lovely private terrace space where we had breakfast and an evening glass of wine outside. We had an absolutely super time, and the extremely high quality of the accommodation was a big part of that.

The location is excellent - literally a few feet from Middleham main square yet so absolutely private and nice to have the car parked off-road. The owners were particularly friendly and shared great advice on where to eat, the local amenities and the 'not-to-be-missed' sites. If any advice was needed they were only next door and also helped in our visit to Jervaulx Abbey in East Witton so we could explore the wonderful grounds and take the 'short' walk home to the Gatehouse. The village is home to many racehorse stables so it was lovely to see the horses being ridden in the mornings to their daily warm-up run on The Gallops; it's not everyday you get to see racehorses at such close quarters. With so much to see and do in the near vicinity, our planned trip to York had to be skipped. Which is good news really as we will have to return again! For us, there will only be one place to stay - The Gatehouse. Highly recommend and one of the nicest cottages we have ever rented either in the UK or abroad.
