Cheeky little break away just out of lockdown and what a gorgeous place we stumbled upon. Firstly nothing was to much trouble for carol the host, we arrived at the property late afternoon and everything was ready for us, including wine and beer in the fridge, chocolates in the jar and a home made cake in the cake tin !! Carol got the kettle on as soon as we arrived. The cow cott has all you need for a great break away and in the middle of nowhere yet not so far away from such beautiful places, meant it was the perfect place for us. Rosie was a great hit with my partner and our puppy who took great joy in finding her each morning then running off barking because she was scared to death !! The open secure field was just brilliant for the dog to run around and carol and phill more than happy for her to be there with us, (even providing her with treats on arrival). It was just what we needed after a hard year ! Relaxing peaceful, charming stress free. With such lovely hosts xx

My partner conducted much research into accommodation for our recent staycation in Hereford. Arriving at the Cow Cott, it did not disappoint! It is a scenic, secluded location but within walking distance of several picturesque villages, many with a pub worth visiting. An excellent base from which to explore the Hay-on-Wye area. We could not have been made more welcome by Carol, Phillip, Teddy the Airedale and Rosie the donkey. It has been lovingly restored and thoughtfully equipped. We hope to be back!

Cow Cot is a delightfully converted farm building in a quiet location.. The owners are really hospitable and had a lovely fruit cake made to welcome us. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed a weeks stay and have had our batteries fully recharged.

Accommodation was very well presented and clean, set in a beautiful rural location away from the hustle and bustle.. The owners (Mr & MRs Rickman) could not have been more welcoming and went to the trouble of providing a lovely fruit cake to eat upon our arrival. Plenty of walks locally and lots to do within a short drive of the accommodation. Very relaxing and highly recommended.

The Cottage is so cosy, so pretty and Phil and Carol the owners very friendly.. Loved the donkeys and Ted, the home made cake and the delivery left from Santa. We have booked using Sykes on many occasions but this Cottage is perfect - very highly recommended

If only the weather was as warm as the greeting - we were welcomed by the owner who provided a lovely home made fruit cake and had the kettle on too. The Cow Cott opened in August. You arrive after driving along winding single track roads. The accommodation is very well finished with beams, new shower room, compact kitchen and sleeping area. There is WiFi and the bed is very comfortable. This is remote and there are lots of walks nearby in fantastic countryside. Hay on Wye is half an hour away by car and plenty of great pubs to visit too. If you want comfortable seclusion this is for you - if you want a 5 minute walk to the local shop definitely not.

The owners Carol and Philip were such lovely people and made my stay even more enjoyable.. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and I slept really well as the cottage is in a beautiful and peaceful location. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to recharge their batteries and enjoy the stunning countryside and the nearby Brecon Beacons.

The Cow Cott is very small, new and tidy and exactly as described.. For a couple, in an out of the way place it is great. The farm owners are informative without being intrusive. The farm is delightful and the surrounding countryside outstanding. The walks starting at the farm are just incredible. Go a little further and the Black Mountains, Welsh borders offer superb views, interesting history and truly amazing people. Everyone we met was so friendly. The farm even has a couple of friendly resident donkeys and a peahen.

Stayed here over the August Bank Holiday and loved it. Cosy, romantic getaway, good for walks, great place to take your pooch and the local pubs are dog friendly. The owners are more than attentive, which made our stay even more special. Impeccably clean, comfy bed, quality pillows, Wi-Fi worked well once we worked out where to find password (on Wi-Fi booster plug underneath tv). If peace and quiet is what you want then this is the place! Cannot fault this cosy retreat

The Cow Cott is an idyllic place to stay.. We stayed for the August Bank Holiday and really enjoyed our stay. The cleanliness of the Cow Cott is superb, the facilities are excellent and we had no trouble with the WiFi. Very comfy bed and top quality pillows. You have everything you need to have a comfy stay here. The hosts are very attentive and made myself, my husband and our dog very welcomed, they even baked a delicious fruit cake and placed it on our doorstep -lovely surprise and much needed along with a brew after a long walk! There are some great walks in the area, there’s a ruined castle -Urishay castle just down the road, sadly it’s private so you can’t have a look round but you can see it from the road but there is a ruined church next to it that you can have a look at. The local pubs are dog friendly which helps when you need to stop off for refreshments halfway through your walk! We will definitely be staying here again!

We were their first visitors.. Stayed here for a week with my 5 year old daughter. The place is absolutely beautiful and the owners were just lovely, they baked a lovely fruit cake for our arrival and welcomed us into their home for a cup of tea and a nice chat. The facilities are brilliant and the little kitchen has everything you need to self cater. I really can’t recommend this place enough. It was peaceful and relaxing but there is lots to do in the area.
