Calf House is an all ground floor barn conversion on the outskirts of the village of Lingdale, four miles from the town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. This semi-detached cottage offers accommodation for four people with two bedrooms consisting of one double and one twin, as well as a family bathroom. The rest of the cottage is made up of an open-plan living area with a fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area. To the outside of this cottage there is a patio and lawned area to rear with garden furniture and ample off road parking. Calf House is a lovely cottage close to many attractions and is ideal all year round.

All ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x adult bunks. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area.

Area
Lingdale is a small village set on the outskirts of the North York Moors National Park and offers a shop and pub. Only four miles away is the town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, which boasts a number of amenities including shops, tearooms, pubs, art galleries, sandy beaches and a pier. Within easy distance of Lingdale are Staithes, Runswick Bay, Whitby and Scarborough.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

North York Moors 10 mins walk. Note: When outside, dogs should be attended at all times. This property can also be booked along side The Granary Cottage (7402) and The Cow Byre (7403) to accommodate group bookings of up to 15 people. Note: Car charging is available on request, charges will apply.

The Calf House is a wonderful base for exploring both the North Yorks coast and moors.. The dogs particularly enjoyed the beaches at Saltburn (just a few minutes drive away) and Skinningrove. The cottage is airy and light whilst also being cosy and comfortable. An ideal place to bring dogs as there are a couple of fields on the doorstep for them to exercise and run around in.

Comfortable dog friendly cottage in the heart of some beautiful countryside.. Close to the lovely beach at Saltburn and not far to drive to Sandsend, Whitby etc. This was a holiday for our elderly dog and we weren't disappointed at the number of dogfriendly cafes/pubs in the area. He had a ride in the funicular railway to get him down to the beach

Very good location with beautiful coastline within very easy reach. Cottage was clean and cosy. The owners (Bill and Sandra) were friendly and welcoming. We were a bit surprised at how close the cottages were to where the owners live - (about 3 metres from the end of our cottage). There was an open field adjacent to the cottages, but not really 'open fields'. We were also a little surprised that to access the 'private patio' entailed actually leaving the property via the front door and walking around the building to the other side. All in all, a good location, clean accommodation and welcoming owners, but not great for peace and privacy.

This was our 2nd time at the cottages.. A great location for visiting the lovely towns and moors that are nearby. Our dogs loved the fields at the cottage and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Already booking another holiday there.

This property is excellently positioned with fantastic walks straight from the doorstep, our dog loved staying here.. The friendly owners, who lived in the vicinity, were extremely helpful in giving directions and local information which was an added bonus. All in all, we've had a fabulous holiday and would love to stay here again.

Clean and comfortable accommodation.. Excellent location for easy access to coast and moors. Farmland aspect in small town with limited facilities. Towel rail or larger hooks needed for heavy bath towels etc in bathroom. Patio area private and easy access to fields for dogs etc but could do with a low wall/fence to help with 'dog friendly' facilities.

Great wee cottage, very clean, pretty and comfortable and with a lovely setting on the edge of the village and next to open fields.. Plenty of space for the kids to play...and we saw an owl within minutes of arriving! The owners are really friendly and helpful too. All in all a lovely stay!

I've stayed at The Calf House previously on a couple of occasions. It never disappoints. High quality, pet friendly, well maintained and cleaned accommodation. Friendly hosts (Bill & Sandra) who live right next door but leave you to enjoy your break unless you need anything. Fast, free, wifi internet access. TV with freeview. Kitchen with all the pots, pans crockery and cutlery you're likely to need. Comfy bed and a very good bathroom with bath and shower. All tucked away from the main road with only farm animals potentially around to cause any disturbance. (you get used to the cockerel after a day or two!). Ideally situated to get to Whitby, Scarborough or Saltburn. Great walks from the doorstep or a short drive away in the moors themselves. Local shops in the village handy, with larger supermarkets available in Skelton, Guisborough or Saltburn. The property is largely on 1 level with 3 modest steps between the entrance and bedrooms/bathrooms. and the kitchen and living area being slightly lower. Ideal even with my older clumsy labrador.

The cottage is in a decent position, but close to the owners house although they didn’t bother us.. The fully tiled floors throughout with no rugs and three steep steps leading to the sitting area were a problem for our aging dog, and a concern for us. The cottage is good for dogs with walks through the open fields. As a couple we were not comfortable and chose to leave early. We found the accommodation quite basic, but reasonably priced!

Calf house cottage looks small on the outside but wow when you walk in the size of ceiling was amazing lovely and clean with amazing views every thing you need was there well equipped kitchen cooker and washing machine,under the bench fridge which had a small freezer lovely shower over bath which was really good, you do need your own towels, owners really nice and friendly, great for our dog who loved the beach at Saltburn by the sea we didn't have a car but bus service was good Arriva x 3 we bought a weekly ticket which was £20 which took us all over would recommend for anyone having a holiday there

Ideal for us as we have 2 dogs and one has walking difficulties, so being on farm land was ideal.. Plenty of open fields. The cottage was perfect everything you needed was in the cottage, All you needed was personel effects and towels.

It was a beautiful location I just wished when I put in the search for 20kms from York it would have been within that area.. We were visiting family in york and 1 1/2 drive is far for someone who drives on the other side of the road. But the cottage itself was spectacular. Thank you for having us.

We booked a 3 night stay at short notice over Christmas 2012. We called Bill (the owner) prior to arriving and were given comprehensive directions & key collection instructions. On arrival Bill came to greet us and showed us around the property, running us through the basics of the heating controls, wifi, TV etc. A useful book of local information described the local amenities and tourist attractions. The accommodation itself is comfortable, homely and tastefully decorated. A fully functional kitchen with oven/hob, fridge, washing machine and all the basics in terms of cutlery/crockery and cookware you might need. Small dining table, sofa and arm chair. TV with freeview finishes the living room. One double bedroom with a comfy bed. One room with bunk beds. The bathroom has both a Bath and a very powerful shower above it.. While the properly does have a couple of steps down to the living room/kitchen area it was more than suitable for my wife (who has mobility problems) to get around. The location is tucked away on a quiet lane and is incredibly peaceful and picturesque. Handy for local towns including Saltburn By The Sea and Whitby it's also right on the edge of North York moors. Overall great value for money, friendly hosts and comfortable accommodation. Ideal base for exploring the area or just lounging around in the cottage itself. We'll be back.
