Lovely owners very friendly .. The road outside the property busy with no footpath which meant the car every day but for us it did not cause a problem .a freezer compartment on the fridge would have been useful .have already booked to go again

Perfect location less than a mile outside Lymington.. Very privately located within owners farm with great 360 views. Use of space really good and all facilities you could want, except for WiFi which is not a big deal if you have a big data bundle. Thanks to the lovely couple Mr & Mrs Barnes for a very relaxed experience, we hope to come back. Regards Paul & Julia

The owners of the Bothy Bill and Valerie are a very welcoming couple.. They came in every morning to relay the woodburning stove and if we were not back before 2 pm they would come in and light it so it was very cosy for us to return to. Naturally, they asked us when we arrived if we would like them to do it.

This is the second year we have stayed at the Bothy .. It has everything we need and is in a beautiful spot, the owners are there if you need them but the Bothy is quietly secluded and offers a peaceful retreat. The local garden centre with a restaurant called Rosie Leas is close by as are many pubs. The Forest was at its best and gives plenty of quiet places to walk or just relax. The Bothy is a wonderful place to stay.

The cottage is situated in a quiet location and provided everything that we required.. The owners live close by and are always happy to help. As well as radiators in the lounge and bedroom there is a wood burner which the owner came in daily to clean the ashes from the previous day and set it up for the next use. If you tell him when you will be back from your day out he'll even light it an hour in advance so its nice and warm to return to. That's a service!

A lovely little cottage, very well equipped, wood burning stove was excellent.. Very helpful owners, going above and beyond in lighting the stove every day so cottage was warm when we returned from a day out. Peaceful situation but well sited for exploring the beautiful area. Deer in the field next to the cottage and lots of bird song.A lovely break. John and Linda Clark

The Bothy is a lovely cottage - just the right size for a couple.. It's got a little private garden with table and chairs and most windows overlook fields (my husband saw deer grazing there one morning!). The landlord and landlady were very kind and provided us with more firewood to heat the wood stove in the living room than we could have ever wished for. It was amazing how warm the rooms got when the stove was in full swing! In terms of kitchen utensils, the only things that might have been nice to have would have been a cafetière and a garlic press. But these are minor details; everything else was absolutely fine. The location was ideal too - easy to get to anywhere in the New Forest. Some good heathland and woodland walks were just a few miles away from the cottage. Also there were at least 3 pubs not too far away (The Hobler, the Red Lion and the Filly Inn). I wouldn't recommend walking even to the nearest one - The Hobler - as the road is quite busy and there are no pavements. But it was excellent to have the choice of different establishments for dinners when one doesn't want to travel too far. And there is a Waitrose a few miles further down the road on the northern outskirts of Lymington - very convenient. We had a brilliant time and will highly likely return to this cottage!

The property lacks nothing for two people wishing to have a relaxing time in a wonderful part of the UK.. Shops and a great Saturday market only a couple of miles away in Lymington. The owners live adjacent to the Bothy and are both friendly and have a wealth of local knowledge. One thing to note. , the property does not have internet but 3G mobile services are available.

The cottage is set in beautiful and quiet surroundings.. The owners a delightful couple who were close by but not intrusive, happy to do anything we needed.

June 2018
The Bothy is ideal for a couple who like being away from busy towns.. Received a very warm welcome by the owners. Although this is located on a working farm, the field next to The Bothy this year was harvested for hay, and they were bayling the day we arrived, after this each morning we were greeted by either 2 or 3 resident deer, and a pair of buzzards, plus plenty of rabbits. Being so close to the New Forest there is an abundance of walks to try for all levels of experience, just need to take care if you start your walk from The Bothy as the main road does not have a foot path, and you need to walk on the verge which we found to be quite busy at times! Would definitely stay again if we returned to this area.

April 2018
Very comfortable cottage.. Didn't need the wood burner, but Valerie would have lit it for us if we had, we were fine with the electric radiator. My only suggestion is that maybe a hairdryer could be supplied (I forgot mine), although I'm sure Valerie would have lent me one, had I asked. I always take my pillow to self catering cottages, but this time didn't need it, pillows in The Bothy were lovely.

After a very busy month at work we went for R & R and got just that.. Very friendly, helpful landlords, really cosy cottage and the New Forest nearby to visit. We couldn't have been happier.

February 2018
We had a great time in the New Forest, and the Bothy exceeded our expectations as the photos do not do it justice.. We were made extremely welcome by our very kind hosts, who also largely dealt with the intricasies of the log burner, with which we were not familiar. Said log burner made the property so very warm and cosy, as we picked one of the coldest weeks this winter to date, this was especially welcome. The alternative heating is also effiecient and responsive. It was a great place for our holiday base, and we would definitely recommend this property.

Our expectations, based on various reviews, were high, but were easily surpassed by this cottage. The quality of furnishings and fittings is high and the amenities comprehensive. It is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The owners are delightful, very helpful and unlike some holiday lettings, provided all the day to day requirements. The cottage is extremely private, facing a beautiful orchard to the front, open fields to the rear and surrounded by well manicured hedges. It is ideally situated for New Forest exploration but not too far from shops and pubs.We spent a week at The Bothy when the weather prevented us from spending as much time outside as we had planned. The cottage proved to be a haven from the inclement summer. If there were to be a criticism it is that the photographs do not do justice to this superb property.

March 2016
The owners warmly welcomed us and on entering The Bothy we both said 'Wow!' The house is set in a well kept garden with mature fruit trees and a sheltered patio area. The garden itself overlooks open fields which was lovely. We particularly liked the accommodation; its comfortable furnishings and equipment were just right for the two of us. The owners kindly tended the log burner and gave some good hints and instructions for its use. There was an ample supply of information leaflets on places to eat and of interest in the surrounding countryside. We had a most enjoyable stay at The Bothy and would certainly recommend it to our friends.

We would certainly recommend it and hopefully will come back to stay there in the future.

The Bothy was a home from home. It was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and had a very well equipped kitchen. In a very nice quiet, secluded location but the owners were on hand should you need them. We had a truly enjoyable holiday and would commend the owner on the way she had just made a few touches to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

We have stayed in many self catering holiday lets for a considerable number of years. The Bothy was all we could have wished for. The cottage was very clean and tidy and well furnished. All the equipment worked well. The Bothy is situated off the main road and well secluded surrounded by an orchard and a paddock. Many places were easy to visit. Mudeford Quay is a very interesting and lovely place. A trip to Hythe on the river especially at tea-time usually means you can see the large holiday cruisers depart from Southampton and the ferry trip is interesting and you can view many of the boats in the harbour. Lyndhurst is a very busy small town and the Forest Drive is a really lovely experience. A car ferry from Lymington takes you to the Isle of Wight and Osborne House (Queen Victoria's residence.) The owners were absolutely charming and very helpful and we found them very friendly. The holiday was a delight and we loved staying in The Bothy. We thoroughly recommend it.

December 2014
Highly commendable. This property is top range, set at a realistic price and well designed for a couple to stay in for a quiet relaxing week. Plenty of places to visit locally, although some might be tempted to just stay home and enjoy their holiday break in The Bothy.

October 2014
We have been self catering for the past 35 years or more. The standard in accommodation during that time has risen to a very high standard. We were certainly not disappointed with The Bothy. The cottage furnishings were so pretty, the kitchen really easy to work in and all the equipment worked. The outlook over the garden from the lounge was a delight. The owners were kind, helpful and unobtrusive. A big thank you to them for a really happy time. We will certainly recommend this cottage.

The Bothy is an outstanding cottage, very well equipped, in lovely surroundings and the owner has put a lot of thought into what is needed. The owner is very nice and helpful in everyday, definitely a cottage to return to.

August 2014
The cottage was very secluded and very well appointed. The owners were very pleasant and made us feel welcome. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week and would have no hesitation in recommending The Bothy to others. The addition of a New Forest car park pass was a bonus which came in very useful.

Lovely comfortable cottage. Situated in grounds of owner's home, close to all facilities but standing alone with outlook over fields. Well equipped and very comfortable.

August 2014
A lovely little let. With fields on two sides, and secluded garden on the other two. A very pretty place with a lovely outlook. There was even a friendly horse that could almost be stroked from the kitchen and bathroom windows. The bothy is light, spacious, and comfortable. It is very close to the lovely town of Lymington and also the new forest. On the down side, there was supposed to be a starter pack of fuel for the fire, but we were told that wasn't lit at the time of year we were there. The use of the woodburner is quite a draw, and having woodburners ourselves, we took extra fuel of our own, which we then had to take back. It's quite wrong to make a big thing about a feature then say someone cannot use it. The shower needed a whole bottle of bleach to remove the mold and make it safe to use. And the mugs and general kitchen cutlery etc. could have been cleaner..

A very nice cottage in a peaceful setting. This cottage is a great place to stay and is in a very good location for the New Forest and the Dorest/Hampshire coast.

April 2014
Our holiday cottage, The Bothy, was a delight to stay in. Like home from home. And the views over the grounds are lovely. It is very peaceful there with lots of beautiful bird song. The cottage is a credit to the owners who are friendly and helpful but not interfering. The New Forest is just a wonderful place to visit and there is a lot to see.

April 2014
The cottage itself was lovely - very peaceful and private - and the owners were very friendly. Everything we needed was provided, and the free parking pass was a very welcome surprise.
