Glyn Ceiriog itself is a lovely village.. People were very friendly and proud and willing to share in their heritage and community. Tan y Ros Isa is on a old road out of the village and on a steep valley side. Its position means it is in the shade from mid afternoon onwards and roadside parking could sometimes be quite a distance away due to the popularity of the village with walkers and other visitors. This did not create a great problem to me and on the price I paid I thought the accomodation good value for money.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place.. The cottage had absolutely everything we could have needed. Having done a few caravan holidays, we arrived with various household items (washing up liquid, toilet roll, cleaning supplies etc etc) but we needn’t have worried as they had thought of everything. The cottage is a good size and is a great base for exploring North Wales. The platform in the garden is fabulous! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage.

The cottage was home from home, sadly the added homely touches like cushions, throws etc have had to be taken away (due to the current situation) but we took our own pillows and used them as cushions on the sofa.. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer and fabulous range looking oven/hob. Plenty of china, cutlery etc and plenty of room at the kitchen table. The lounge had a few books and DVD’s to borrow, but we were out and about visiting great local places that kept us very busy. The upstairs layout is very cute, chai's long in the main bedroom with long drapes for privacy - I loved it! I was dubious about the parking as there is none with the property - the road parking worked fine and we were never parked too far from the cottage. My favourite was the decking in the back garden - it is a little climb up the path but once up there the view is amazing. We sat up there every evening before dinner.

Whilst we enjoyed our stay and the cottage was well equipped we were disappointed to find we had to drive 7 miles to get a mobile signal! Nice location & peaceful.

A well equipped comfortable cottage just inside Wales. The kitchen is well appointed with a new electric range cooker and all the other mod cons needed. Full instructions for use are also provided unlike some cottages. Main bedroom is large with a very comfortable bed, the galley nature of this was barely noticeable as there were just the two of us, although I can see that if you came with a family you would want to use the curtain provided to give some privacy. The bathroom is perfectly adequate if somewhat compact. The property was well cleaned and ready on our arrival. The sighting of the cottage was perfect for visiting Llangollen with it's steam railway and canal/aqueducts, both of which are recommended visits, Bala and its lake and railway, Chester with it's Roman history as well as Shrewsbury and Welshpool. The village stores locally and in Chirk are good as are the butchers in Llangollen and Chirk. Our only real criticism was the on road parking which although adequate in itself made it difficult to turn around without using nearby driveways which we were asked not to do. Other than that a good place to stay and one we could use again in the future.

The cottage itself was lovely , it was lovely and clean small but comfortable how ever we felt it was to far away from anywhere we had to travel 15 miles to the nearest town just to get to see my daughters which was the hole point of us staying there was to be able to spend Christmas with them we couldn’t even get a phone signal (which I think this should be said when booking ) there was nothing to visit even the pubs would not allow you to take your dogs into there was one shop ..

We had a great weekend at this cottage it was lovely and cosy.. A well equipped kitchen, very clean and a quiet location. Good local shops and parks for the children. We found it a great base for days out and several local pubs for tea out. We would recommend this cottage to anyone considering staying here.

Lovely cottage.. Lovely location. Everything you could wish for in a home from home.

The garden was not as securely enclosed as I would have liked but not bad, the decking area was in need of some repair and tidying up and the path up to it was overgrown (stinging nettles got me a couple of times).. This is my only criticism as a dog friendly cottage, I had to supervise dogs outside as there were a couple of places they could have got out, especially as there were several cats surrounding the cottage that may have been too much temptation to chase after. The cottage itself was well equipped and provided a great base for exploring North Wales. We had a great holiday. Thank you.

A beautiful, cosy cottage with everything that needed for a short holiday.. The well-equipped kitchen and snug living room with its open fire were perfect for staying in, and with the pub only a short walk down the road, this was also an easy option for eating out. Sitting outside to enjoy coffee and soak up the morning sunshine was a lovely relaxing way to start the day. Although I usually prefer private parking, it was never an issue to park opposite the house which made loading and unloading very convenient. Just be aware of the traffic that passes immediately in front of, and very close to, the gate. Local walks and a trip to Llangollen were made even more enjoyable by the cooperative weather.

The cottage was beautiful , well equipped with toiletries and washing up items ( .... The cottage was beautiful , well equipped with toiletries and washing up items ( not experienced this before ) in a lovely village , we had some lovely days out using the leaflets left at the cottage and reading the visitors book , the only thing I would say is that I went with my mum and I let her have the king size bed , I took the twin room , those beds were extremely uncomfortable , I had no sleep on the first night , so we swapped rooms x we would recommend staying at the cottage but we wouldn’t stay again with those beds I’m sorry x

This cottage is the perfect location to explore North Wales from, it's easy reach (with a car) as far as Anglesey one way and to Chester the other way. The village has all you need, there is a shop which sells everything and it's in walking distance of the cottage. The walk is also all on a pathway, so it's also a safe walk. We stayed during February so were using the open fire, and you can get all you need for the fire at the local shop too. The cottage has two bedrooms with the main bedroom being separated with a curtain. So it's ideal for a couple and even a couple with kids, but it probably wouldn't suit two couples, but a girlie weekend would work. The cottage is deceptively roomy on the inside, with a good size kitchen with a cooker range, dining table and everything in the kitchen you could possible need. The master bedroom is very large with plenty of room for your clothes and bits. It's a comfy bed too. You know when you go away and you never sleep properly the first night, well that didn't happen, we slept through 11 hours, we were disgusted with ourselves, but proved the bed must have been comfortable. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and the towles are lovely and soft. We would certainly go again, ideal spot, lovely cottage and beautiful area.

This property is extremely well located for walks in the hills and woods straight from the doorstep.. In the winter, it was cosy with the woodburner and comfortable for 4 adults. The property is suitable for dogs, and our little terrier was very happy there, but I would certainly recommend it to non-dog owners as well; the furnishings and carpets are clean, and there is no smell (so beloved to many dog owners) to suggest that dogs have ever lived there. We had a lovely, relaxing weekend break.

Such a lovely hidden gem in a picturesque village.. There was even a craft fair on with a meet and greet with Santa so my 2 year old was over the moon. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Just to let any future guest know that one of the local pubs The Oak is closed however, there is another local pub close by that serves Swiss food, a spa and plenty pubs/restaurants in driving distance. However the cottage is so well equipped making dining in nice and easy. Overall such a fantastic break away.

The blurb from Sykes is pretty much accurate so I do not need to elaborate on what the cottage offers. It really is well equipped. I don't think our wants were very demanding but it didn't seem to lack anything except perhaps storage for clothes and personal belongings in the bedroom with 2 beds. I would highlight positively the shower, the water colour paintings on the walls, the outside table (as long as it is sunny!) and the fact that it is close to the Spar supermarket as others have mentioned. There are also a selection of DVDs, puzzles and games which I always like to find at a holiday cottage. Roadside parking may sound something of a hazard but we had no problem at all. I rarely even had to practise my parallel parking! The following comments are not intended to be negative, just to try to indicate whether this place is suitable for your family/group. It is not a big cottage but both the main rooms (sitting room and kitchen/dining) are absolutely fine. The kitchen particularly is bright and airy. We were joined for the day by another family of 5 and with some help from good weather, allowing us to eat one meal outside, coped without problem. The steps to the bedrooms are steep. My 90 year old father managed them but, as both bedrooms are upstairs, I don't think this would work for anyone severely disabled. I would also mention that there is no lawn or 'play area' in the garden. Some of you may need to know that bookings for this cottage are usually done from a Friday to Friday. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my week in the cottage. I would certainly recommend it, both as a place to stay in itself and as a centre for visiting many interesting and beautiful places around.

Second time we have stayed here and it was good as last time. On arrival the cottage was very clean and tidy. It has everything you need and good wi-fi was helpful as there is little or no phone signal in the valley. Nice to have a log fire every night that keeps the cottage warm and cozy. Pub that has good food and a shop both in easy walking distance. There is also I good play area and large field near as well. Will go back

My husband and myself was looking for a relaxing get away from the city and we definitely got it here. It is a lovely cottage with everything u need, the owners have thought of literally everything even the little touches to make it feel home from home. There's a open fire which is so lovely on those winters evenings although the cottage is lovely and warm without it but it's so cosy with it ! The views from the cottage are great and the surrounding area is lovely, there's so many walks and sights to see. And the people are so friendly we went to the oak pub just down from the cottage a few times during our stay and the food is lovely and the owners and staff are so welcoming and friendly we have had a lovely holiday and we can't wait to go back !! We would totally recommend this cottage

Well what a lovely little cottage - far exceeded our expectations! So well equipped - the owners have thought of almost everything that you might need away from home (inc. sewing kit, first aid kit, kitchen foil, light bulbs & baking equipment etc) - things that you don't always think you will need whilst on holiday. The owners have catered for children too - there were safety devices available for children as well as children's plates, cups etc. They left us enough dishwasher, washing machine stuff to get us started too which was a help although there is a well stocked Spar shop within close walking distance. The log fire is lovely too - again they left enough to get us started and more logs are available to buy close by. We were able to park outside the cottage every day on the quiet road. I sat in the front garden each morning drinking coffee in the sun overlooking the valley (well not always in the sun but the weather was kind to us and it was dry at least). We could see the river Ceiriog from the bedroom windows. A quaint little village, one shop, one post office, a café and two pubs and a fab play park for children. The Glyn Valley pub is a locals pub but they were very welcoming and the food was fab. We ate at the Oak to and it was a nice atmosphere there too. We had a really relaxing break here and would definitely return for a bit of peace and quiet. Still lots to see in the area.

The cottage was very well equipped and presented beautifully, particularly the soft furnishings downstairs. The quality of furniture and crockery was evident and everything felt as if it had been bought specifically with guests of the cottage in mind. It is clear that the owners have put a lot of time, thought and money into equipping the cottage and that made staying there really pleasurable.

A fantastic and accessible cottage. It was wonderful not to be faced by a mountainous drive (as is so often the case when I have travelled to Wales). The furnishings were beautiful and another fantastic point was that the garden was secure enough for the dogs (and our dogs are small). We could relax knowing that they were safe. Finally we really loved the local pub/restaurants-superb food and great service..if we had stayed any longer we would have come back considerably larger.
Mrs Roberts
January 2015
We loved the tasteful way the cottage had been furnished, it's open fire and luxurious bed. Also it's close proximity to local pubs (one of which had excellent food), and lovely, varied walks from the cottage. The owners were exceedingly helpful and friendly as were the villagers. It's also a beautiful part of Wales and close to Chester and Liverpool for days out.
