It was dirty. We told sykes. We asked for that information not to be made known to the world. We loved everything else about it and hoped to stay again. We were refused another booking because we were a dog too many. A 9 kg rescue. We are clean people and we leave premises clean. Our kindness has been thrown back in our face.

The area itself is stunning and is heaven on earth.. Unfortunately we were probably spoilt last year when we stayed in a cottage in Wales. This years stay in aviemore was lovely but the chalet needed a good deep clean especially the bathroom, extractor fans and tiles. In the kitchen it needed a good scrub and the tiles properly cleaned. It was also extremely basic in terms of equipment. Whilst it’s good value and good as a base, a bit TLC would have made it even better. Unlike last years cottage there was nothing in the way of books/games/dvds although this was perhaps due to COVID-19. As I said, a bit loving care would elevate the comfort of the property, nothing could make the area better, it’s just perfect as it is.

Had a lovely stay but let down again by the cleanliness of the property, had to hoover up on arrival as it clearly had not been done properly, also the bathroom certainly hadn't been cleaned as it was still dirty and the shower tray hadn't been done for months as was thick with black dust.. The chalet is in a lovely position, but it's always the cleanliness that let's it down it's our 3rd year here and each time I have reported the cleanliness but nothing seems to get done about it! It would be nice to stay here again and come into a clean chalet.

Inside entrance porch, mat dirty & with leaves, the kitchen was disgusting, oven, hobb & surrounding area- filthy, couldnt use oven, was so bad.. We bought bleach to soak a chopping board from bolognese orange to white. Bathroom was worse with splash back & mirror not clean, sink & pedestol black, also shower inside & out black, long time of hair not cleared, drain cover removed as water filled tray up almost out the shower door. Carpet on stair badly stained as was downstairs bedroom carpet, long time of dogs taking its toll. My husband cleaned cooker hobb, oven door, cleaned out drain in shower so water could drain away.sink & bottom of pedestol. Upstairs was spoiled because of black dog hair on wooden floor. A beautiful chalet spoiled as it had not been cleaned in long term, would not go back. Can attach photos of said complaints.

Cosy chalet in lovely grounds, on the riverbank, in the heart of Aviemore.. Very comfortable and well equipped.

The accommodation was lovely, well situated for the event we were there for (Thunder in the Glens) and already booked for next year.. The shared garden was lovely and the gate at the bottom which lead to a bridge over the burn, into a meadow and then through some trees to the banks of the Spey was a favourite of my two dogs who joined me for the latter part of the booking after the rest of the party had headed home. The big doors to outside from the family room were stuck, probably swollen from the amount of rain in the area this summer but that was a minor inconvenience which we didn't bother the owners with, other than that the accommodation was near perfect, the one thing that was missing for pet owners I think was a fenced off area for the dogs to sit outside (mine are still puppyish so a secure area would have been welcomed), that secure are under the upper veranda would have made the near in 'near perfect disappear'.

The chalet was perfectly located with parking on the road just outside the cottage.. The garden outback was extensive with wonderful views of the mountains. Perfectly located and lovely hosts. Will definitely be booking again.

Lovely and cosy, nice and warm and kitchen well equipped.. As lounge is upstairs and main bedroom and kitchen etc on ground floor it would be nice to have a TV in the downstairs bedroom which has a table and chairs and acts as another lounge. Would recommend and hope to return.

The cottage was amazingly clean, had all the facilities we needed and was situated in a perfect place for our family.. We would definitely recommend this place and we can’t wait to go back.

The cleanliness of the property on arrival was not good as had to spend an hour hoovering and cleaning before we could even unpack! Few things in general need to be updated at the property new chairs in the lounge as all marked and dirty and a new mattress on the double bed. The property just needs a good TLC to bring it up to standard as it has so much potential.

Stayed here in 17 when it was incredibly cold and snowy. Brilliant. The chalet was warm and cosy with fantastic mountain views and with snow on the glass roof it added to the winter wonderland atmosphere of Aviemore at its best. Lots of wildlife in the garden.2 minute walk to pubs, shops etc but a quiet location.Personally prefer a bath so a shower is not ideal but the bathroom was warm. Wanted to book again but the week we wanted was already taken. Would most definitely stay again.

Very helpful booking process, Sykes provisionally booked the cottage enabling us to sort out details with our friends who were also in Aviemore.. Delightful chalet with character and plenty of space, nicely presented. Recommended.

Bathroom filthy and clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned for some time: shower drain blocked with hair and thick brown slime, dirty toilet, stinking toilet brush full of foul water, grimy floor. Dealt with this ourselves, but couldn’t enjoy rest of holiday because mattresses so poor, particularly on double bed. Should have been changed years ago. Two basics I expect from a holiday property: cleanliness and decent beds, both absent here. Aviemore is such a popular location I assume that demand outstrips supply and there isn’t pressure to improve such accommodation, which is a shame given it’s beautiful location and potential.

Although we had read the description and seen the photos of the chalet we were very pleasantly surprised at the size and level of comfort that we experienced: I’d say that what you read and see does not do it justice.. It is very well equipped with every thing you could need as well as very comfortable beds and bedding. It could not be better situated for access to the amenities of the centre of Aviemore, a great pub down the road and for public transport links. The views from the chalet of the Cairngorms are breathtaking! We definitely recommend it and we will book it for our next visit to Aviemore.

This is a fantastic alpine style lodge in the heart of Aviemore.. There is very easy access to all the amenities Aviemore has to offer and we were never far away from something to do, Rothiemurchus being virtually on our doorstep and the skiing 20 minutes up the road. For walkers there are plenty of routes for all abilities, be those easy strolls around Loch Morlich or for the hardcore, Cairngorm itself. For the scotch drinker the surrounding towns and villages are a mecca, with so many famous distilleries being fed by the Spey river. Everything is easily accesible and well serviced by road (except when the snow gates are closed!). We also took the train and spent a day in and around Inverness, and found the service to be very reliable. All in all we had a fantastic week, doing good things, in a beautiful place with friendly people. What's not to make us come back again?

The property was as listed but we had a few issues with this.. The owner was notified but failed to even respond to my text. Day 1 the fridge stopped after doing a shop so we lost a lot of food .the drains in the shower room had to be cleaned out by me photos are available. On the whole the property was not cleaned or maintained to a fair standard .bedroom cupboard drawers need repairing .outside lights not working hover stinking when in use .this was the same for the kitchen fan stinking when in use .this is a fair assessment not me being picky .

The chalet was in a great location .. But on arrival very dissatisfied as the chalet was not clean . I had to spend money on products to clean . The worst areas were the kitchen and bathrooms . Could not use any pots pans as filthy . Nearly every dish was chipped . Cooker ,microwave dirty . We ended up eating ready meals and couldn't bear to prep food . The chairs in the lounge were stained and dirty and we had to buy throws to cover them so we could use . Very poor info just leaflets on cooker heaters ..... bathroom smelt horrible . Would not return and very hestitan to Rebook through Sykes cottages . I sent owner a polite text explained we were dissatisfied and reply back comments previously from others said the same as us regarding cleaning so why dint the owners clean or check before our arrival . Regards Alison .

Two changes that would be helpful.. A new oven , although the existing one is adequate. A new 4 slice toaster.

Very good lodge in a fab location. Kitchen excellent with all dishes, pots and utensils, cloths etc you would need. Cooker, fridge and dishwasher all clean and easy to use. Bathroom had large walk in shower (was needing the grout renewed) and the sink looked to be new although the toilet seat had to be fixed by my husband on 2 occasions but I did mention this and am confident it will be repaired. The master bedroom ginormous and opens out onto the lovely garden. Upstairs was fab, our children loved the whole wooden theme and the doors opening onto balcony (few rotten slats of wood so be careful) and their bedroom was fine. We kept our bikes safe and dry under the balcony outside our bedroom which was great and you are able to play in the large garden at rear. Property only few minutes walk from the centre of Aviemore and 2 mins from cycle track. All in all we had great time and would re book this property.

The location is ideal for all activities and places of interest.. The chalet is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a break. The only thing I would suggest is that a few things are replaced, such as table and chairs on balcony, fix balcony, replace lightbulbs. The place is idyllic, we watched rabbits, red squirrels and deer in the garden on an evening!

We arrived at the chalet on Friday afternoon, and were not disappointed, it is clean and spacious and has everything you would need for a break away, dishwasher, washing machine etc The kitchen is very well equipt, the shower room / bathroom has the added touch of underfloor heating which is lovely. There is a very spacious bedroom/ family room, with a double bed and a single bed and a handy table to sit at and enjoy the beautiful view of the garden. Upstairs there is a further twin bedroom and a lovely lounge with the most spectacular view of the snow capped mountains which can also be enjoyed from the large decked balcony. We had taken our two dogs with us as the cabin is dog friendly, from the bottom of the garden there is a nice walk along the river which we all enjoyed. Aviemore has plenty shops, cafes and restaurants which are minutes walk from the cabin, We were sad to leave and are already planning another break at this lovely holiday rental.
