Stephen's Cottage is an end terraced farm cottage on a working farm just two miles from the coastal town of Alnmouth in Northumberland. With three bedrooms, two doubles and one twin as well as the family bathroom and shower room, this cottage can sleep six people. There is also a fitted kitchen with a dining area and sitting room with a gas stove. Outside the cottage is shared use of a large lawned garden and off road parking for two cars. With its neighbouring cottages, Stephen's Cottage can provide accommodation for up to 18 people in this beautiful part of Northumberland.

Area
Alnmouth is a delightful resort four miles east of Alnwick which is popular with golfers and holidaymakers in need of a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Situated on a narrow spit of land between the North Sea and the River Aln, Alnmouth was originally the port for Alnwick. The area is nowa beautiful and unspoilt region which offers plenty to its visitors including a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants; a superb "links" golf course; splendid river fishing opportunities, and mile upon mile of incredible beaches and sand dunes for seaside fun.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Stephen's Cottage was excellent, comfortable accommodation in a fantastic location for exploring Northumberland. A short walk to the beach in Alnmouth is a must, and other lovely nearby towns are Alnwick, Seahouses, Amble, Walkworth and Bambrough Castle. The accommodation itself is 5 star, warm and comfortable and easily sleeps 6 people. The lovely hosts have thought of everything which might be needed, and their personal greeting was a lovely touch. We would like to offer a sincere thank you to Dorothy and Brian, who bent over backwards to accommodate our party, and our specific special requests.. we would love to come back, and I am sure we will.

Bilton Barns made an excellent centre for visits to coast, moorland and castles.. Convenient for train travel. Owners of the farm were most helpful and pleasant. We hope to go back - which must be the best recommendation.

Lovely comfy cottage in a wonderful location.. Cottage had all we needed (and more) for 2 couples, a 2 year old and a baby. Ample accommodation, good communication with owner, Dorothy, who came to greet us on arrival. Almouth a short drive away with £2 all day parking in beachfront car park. Lots to do in area and it's such a lovely region.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at stephen's cottage in the past 12 months and I doubt it will be the last.. The cottage has everything you need for a family of 4 to be comfortable and enjoy a quiet relaxing week in a beautiful part of the country. During our 2nd stay we were delighted to find a new blu ray player, oven and hob. The owners clearly take pride in their properties and are committed to providing their guests with up to date facilities. The neighbours were great when we stayed on both occasions and didn't mind our 2 young kids playing in the garden. One even said he has been twice a year for the past 15 years. Brian and dorothy are great hosts and are there if you need them but leave you to enjoy your stay in peace. My sykes experience has been great on both occasions and it is the first place I will check when booking a cottage in the future. The website is great, quality properties at any budget and communication is informative and unobtrusive. Quality of cottage = 10/10 Quality of sykes customer experience = 10/10

A really enjoyable holiday.. The cottage exceeded our expectations in terms of space, comfort etc. The children enjoyed sitting on the window-seats in the bedrooms. It was very well-equipped. The garden was a great space for the children to play in. The setting was beautiful; we spotted hares, bats etc, and were able to watch some of the harvesting processes at the farm. The farmer also explained some of his crops, and advised on local walks. One night, we followed the bridle-path running next to the cottage - it has a contant sea-view too.

. Extremely disappointing. First of all, I cannot fault the cottage . It is large, clean, warm and comfortable. It has everything that we could practically need. However, If you are expecting to relax in the garden and enjoy the wonderful countryside surrounding you, you won't find it staying here. The garden is completely surrounded by approx 10ft high hedging, a 6ft wall and mature trees and the only other thing you can see is the sky ! There are no plants/shrubs or anything of interest in the garden apart from grass. The hedge is so high that even from upstairs you can only view the horizon. The photo of the garden, in my opinion, misleading. It is not as large as it appears. When sitting outside there is only approx 6-8ft until the next house. We could not sit in the garden or leave our door open because we could hear the full conversation of our neighbours (and they were not noisy neighbours). If all you want is a 'base' then this cottage would be fine, but if you are looking for a view - then you will be extremely disappointed. We left after 4 nights (having paid over £600 for 7 nights. I suggest the description should be updated to record the fact that there is no view. For us, it completely spoiled a holiday which we were very much looking forward to..

Very nice cottage in a lovely area and convenient location.. We liked the wild hares who came to say hello each day and the wide variety of birds in the garden. The owners welcomed us and made sure we were ok and gave us tips on good places to eat and local knowledge. We would recommend this cottage.

This is a lovely cosy place to stay with an enclosed back garden which is ideal for kids (it even has two goals if they fancy a kick around).. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dining area and the living room is spacious and comfortable. The cottage is about 2 miles from Alnmouth. If you leave your car at Alnmouth station there’s a great walk to Warkworth along the coast on a marked path. Would recommend the cottage.

This cottage is smack bang in the middle of Rothbury and shops, pubs and restaurants all within a 5 minute walk. It is within walking distance of Cragside (well worth a visit) and a lovely walk down by the river. The cottage has a great dining kitchen and other rooms are all a decent size and very comfortable.

One of three farm cottages situated a short distance inland from Alnmouth. The location is quiet and peaceful yet only a short drive to local pubs and restaurants . Walking from the farm is possible but route finding is difficult along the edge of cornfields. The cottage is clean,,warm and very comfortable ,well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Lots of extras are included for example books, DVDs ,games and tourist information. There is a large lawned area shared by all three cottages which is screened with shrubs and gated making it a safe place for young children. Centrally located for exploring the Northumbria coast.

The owner came to see us at the start of the holiday to make sure we were happy and said if there was anything we needed to contact her and then left us alone. The icing on the cake was the beautiful weather. The week wasn't long enough to see everything so we will return.

On arrival the owner called in to see if we had any problems, then left us alone for the rest of the holiday. We were delighted with the house which had two lovely bathrooms and a large kitchen which was great for six people. It also had a big walled communal garden which was ideal for children. There were lots of beautiful beaches within reach and we visited lots of castles and gardens. We did see everything at its best as we had hot, sunny weather. We can't wait to go back.

Setting: Wonderful next to farm but did not experience any noise or "whiffs". Very peaceful and quiet. Lovely private garden at back of cottage. No problems with parking. Cottage: Best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Extremely clean and comfortable - actually had a comfortable sofa - (not the usual holiday cottage sit up and beg type). Kitchen appliances and equipment excellent. Bathroom lovely. Owner: Friendly, welcoming and approachable. We knew she was there to ask for help if we needed it, but left us to our devices - great. Liked Best - everything. Liked Least - Nothing - Can't think of anything to complain about!!
