Property Description

Holiday home
All the accommodation is laid out over a single level and the living area has been designed in an open-plan style. It retains a lot of its original charm through features such as open roof trusses and a wood-burning stove. In addition to the stove there are convection heaters and night storage-heaters to ensure that you can get the best of what the region has to offer at any time of year. For hazy, summer evenings the rear garden has barbeque facilities. Note : This property only accepts 7 night bookings and Saturday check in between 31st March and 31 st May

Area
Belford is an ancient village, having been in existence since before medieval times. The centre of the village is the market square with its cross dating back around 300 years. Today it is a quiet village which gives visitors easy access to the Northumberland Coast, the Cheviot Hills and the Scottish Borders. Belford itself has a variety of smaller interesting shops as well as the usual shops and facilities available in a large village. During the month of August, a continental market takes place in the centre of the village and gives it a real carnival atmosphere. Overlooked by the magnificent 18th century Belford Hall and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village is Belford Golf Club, a 9-hole golf course which features a driving range, motorised cart hire and excellent bar facilities.

Region
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Note : This property only accepts 7 night bookings and

Ideally placed cottage for all major attractions.. The most beautiful countryside. Covid 19 did not impinge on holiday expectations as good compliance with guidelines including the advice given for the cottage. Helpful owners who catered for bike storage. Sustrans 1 cycle route was challenging and the cyclist needs were on the whole well set up. The weather was unusually glorious!

So lucky to find this gem of a cottage at such short notice.. Was very comfortable, well equipped & quiet & peaceful just what we needed. The delightful garden at the rear was lovely to sit & relax in. Owners extremely helpful , would definitely return if in the area again. Thank you Saul & Emma

Lovely cottage, clean, comfortable, everything was there we needed, apart from an iron.. Very quite as well. The owners were lovely, very friendly. The location was great, lots of places to see, not far from the Scottish borders.

The cottage was spotless and everything was to hand.. The owners had took a lot of trouble to make the stay wonderful. It was ideally situated for touring about. We would certainly go back and recommend it to others.

The photos of the cottage really don’t do it justice - it was just lovely! And such a beautiful part of the UK. After a hard day’s exploring it was fantastic to come back to Stable Cottage to recharge our batteries.

Just returned from a lovely holiday at Stable Cottage.. The photos of the cottage do not do the property justice. It is a lovely cottage, in a beautifully peaceful location. The garden is wonderful. Within easy driving distance to Alnwick, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Spittal - beautiful beach and Berwick upon Tweed. There is also a lovely beach at Scremerston.

The images listed for Stable Cottage do not give the house and garden justice - in reality the property is amazing; the furnishings are quaint and cottage like and of superior quality.. The location is superb; nice and quiet like we like it and within easy driving reach of the coastal and inland sights. The property is packed with books, CDs, DVDs, games etc. There was even a badminton set to use in the garden; and although in our 50s we have come home and decided to take up badminton as it was such a buzz! We were welcomed with fresh flowers and biscuits and even some tea bags to get us started. The internet was magic and worked better than at home. We had a great time and will definately return.

The cottage is ideally situated for exploration in Northumberland.. A great secluded, private, quiet garden. Which our 2 year old boy loved, along with the toy tractor. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Thanks to Saul and Emma for a fantastic family holiday!

Stable cottage is very well situated for touring the Northumberland coast. It is in Belford which is an interesting village. The layout is very good, and the beds and bathroom were good. It is clean, quiet at night and the wildlife and farm animals etc were interesting. I do feel though that it needs some TLC. The DVD was used during bad weather, and proved to be difficult to use even with following the instructions as it didn't work the way it should have done. We are used to DVD players which made this one frustrating to operate. We didn't like the mix of drinking mugs. Some of the crockery is chipped and needs throwing away. Likewise with some cooking items. The toilet seat needs replacing with a white one. These points are small and easily fixed to make the cottage great again. Overall, the cottage was slightly disappointing, but it is well located and we enjoyed our holiday.

The positive bits! * The cottage was well described, cosy and a home-from-home, which is what I wanted. * A good location for exploring that part of Northumberland. * Represented good value for money for the time of year. * I would stay there again. Aspects to consider improving upon: * Generally the cottage was in good condition, albeit the small sofa appeared quite old and was not as comfortable as I would have liked. * The kitchen was well equipment and of a good standard in general. Some of the cooking pots and pans were worn and showing their age. * When removing the bedding on the final morning before leaving, it was only then that I noticed that the pillows were quite badly stained underneath the pillow case and did look poor. Pillows should perhaps be changed more regularly. These are suggested aspects to improve the cottage and irrespective of the above, I would book the cottage again. It was a good holiday. Ian Dolman

Stable Cottage is a beautiful little cottage very well placed near the A1 for getting about the area, and within walking distance of Belford for supplies and amenities.. The cottage had a lovely patio and garden which we made use of. The main room was a cosy and comfortable haven after a hard day out enjoying ourselves. There was nothing we did not like, we had a great week staying in a lovely cottage.

Very well prepared cottage, lovely character. Nice garden. Very good location for Northumberland coast without the expense of staying closer to Bamburgh (still only a 10 min drive from the beaches though). A shame that there is not more in Belford itself, although the pubs and hotels are Reasonable - just a little lacking in character I suppose.

We had difficulty in the past finding a comfortable cottage for two, so decided to look at properties for four, and we were not disappointed. Stable cottage was delightful, well equipped, and superbly located for both the Northumberland coast and countryside. We have already recommended this property to our children, all now married with young families, and would have no hesitation in sending them there. The property was very convenient, with parking at the door, and a lovely garden, safe for even the youngest children. The owners have children themselves, and clearly know what makes your stay comfortable and extra special.

The cottage is extremely cosy and comfortable but also light and airy. Although it is very close to the A1 it is quiet and perfectly located for exploring the region. There were lots of little touches which we appreciated such as the many lamps, all operated by one switch and the cosy wood burning stove although we didn't need to use it. The garden is a decent size for children to play. We also appreciated the selection of toys and children's books.
