Somerset Lodge in North Yorkshire

Fantastic lodge and we had a brilliant time here.. I would highly recommend this as a relaxing get away.

Great lodge, great location.. Site managers are very friendly. Weekend full of memories we will treasure forever as a family. Thank you! Dont doubt it, book it.

We had a great time, nice lodge in a good location..

Loved how much space we had even with 4 daughters and a Rottweiler! Everything we needed to make our Christmas dinner and the hottub was an added bonus!

We had a lovely family break and our 2 dogs enjoyed the break too.. It was lovely and quiet and so relaxing and chilled. The lodge was well equipped. Hot tub was great. Highly recommend we will be back in the future.

If you're planning a holiday in one of these lodges whatever you do don't look at trip advisor pre-2019 as it has significantly improved since then! We were very pleasantly surprised to find the whole lodge had been refurbished/recarpeted since the photos had been taken on the website and was in excellent condition. The hot tub was spotless and ready to use from the minute we arrived until we left a week later. Facilities are excellent and the only reason I didn't give full marks is because of the lack of WiFi :/. However this is a place to get away from it all as it's right in the middle if beautiful country side with the nearest shops being 7-8 miles away (something to bear in mind). I would highly recommend it as a holiday destination for families as it is not far from many tourist attractions. A fantastic place to stay in my opinion

My family enjoyed a lovely stay in the lodge, It was well equipped and clean however the lounge furniture was in need of updating and the outside of the lodge would benefit from some annual maintenance of decking area..

More dvds would have been good bit to much cleaner in hot tub made a brown froth around edge

Only downside of this holiday was the mattresses.. They need to be renewed with better quality. Other than that, the cabin was amazing. We’ll definitely be back.

Had a lovely weekend away.. Relaxed atmosphere, the cabin was far better than we anticipated, the site was very quiet and the cabins are really well spaced out. Mick, the grounds man / odd job man was more than helpful, coming to introduce himself and check everything was ok, nothing too much trouble for him. Will definitely be visiting again

Nice and comfortable but needs work doing hot tub lovely but very hot .. While we were staying there we noticed the shower was leaking and we thought the price we paid was too much for what we got. It was very peaceful which is what we like but it does need some work doing on it all in all we enjoyed our stay.

Looking forward to going here again next year but for longer.. Really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend to friends and family. The owner of the lodge and the warden are so friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Hot tub was the main highlight for us.

First let me say that everything that is said about George and Yvonne in prevous reviews is very true.. Helpful, polite, considerate and willing to put right anything found wrong. We did not arrive at Somerset Lodge unil 9 o'clock on the Friday night and unfortunately first impressions were not good. We stay in similiar lodges all over the UK seven or eight times a year and have done so for many years, however, the exterior condition of this lodge did not bode well. On entering we were confronted imediately with the smell of dogs (and found out by reading the Visitors Book, that two dogs had been in there previous to us). We always book lodges with hot tubes, therefore, we were despirately disappointed to find our hot tub full of dirty cloudy water. It was obvious it had not been changed since the previous occupants had vacated. In fairrness, when I mentioned it to George the following morning he came immediately and drained it, However, once drained it showed all the gunge, hair and rubbish (hairclips, sequins, stones and blocked bottom filters and jets) so my partner and I spent Saturday morning degunging it and giving it a good clean. Not something we expected to do. The top water filter did not work, so the top of the water always had a film on it. After another dreadful night on the lumpy double mattress, we decided to go and buy a mattress topper. When I told George what we intended, he did offer to pay for it, but as I needed one at home I told him I would be taking it with me at the end of the holiday. These lodges are advertised as Eco Lodges, however, there are no facilities to separate and recycle rubbish. It all goes into one rubbish bag and that is put onto a trailer near the entrance. Eco Lodges? I don't think so. I feel guilty in writing such a negative review but believe that people should be aware of what they are getting when paying out several hundreds of pounds of what could be their only annual holiday. However, as said above, George and Yvonne were a very nice couple. Would I return? I don't think so.

Echo lodges is a brilliant location, beautiful scenery’s and fantastic log cabins.. Me and my partner really enjoyed it there the hot tub was a bonus couldn’t of asked for more better hosts too, George and evon were very welcoming and went out of there way to make it a great stay for us. Would highly recommend as I will be going back as soon as! Thanks for a great trip

Great location but the cleanliness let it down.. Furniture was dated ,beds were rock hard and the lamp shades were full off dead flies. Also the oven was very temeramental and worked when it wanted to. The staff were great though and helped any time we needed them.

I decided to treat my partner to a weekend here for her birthday. Absolutely loved it. George was amazing and one of the nicest hosts I've ever had the privelage to meet. Very clean and tidy park as well as peace and tranquility. George greeted us on our arrival and was very helpful, the following morning he came round and sorted the hot tub out for us and was stood chatting. He also let us stay an extra few hours as the lodge wasn't been used. The lodge could of been a shambles but I would of still gone back because of the owner. Lovely place and would highly recommend. Me and my partner will definetly be visiting again soon.

Perfect for our needs

What a lovely place! Cannot fault it - gorgeous lodge, hot tub and park. Lodges well spaced from each other so guests not on top of each other. Lovely and clean lodges and very well equipped with kitchen ware, sofas, TV etc etc. George is the loveliest of hosts and couldn't do enough for us. We visited for a week with our 2 dogs and loved it so much we decided to stay an extra night. Cannot wait to go back!

We had an excellent host who was a pleasure to meet. Loved the hot tub and the quiet surroundings. We had an excellent time and would highly recommend the cottage to any of our friends and family and will be sure to return next year.

An excellent quality Lodge with a great hot tub in a tranquil location. It was near to the many attractions within North Yorkshire. Had great walks and it was an ideal lodge to take a dog. The local pubs were very accommodating even with dogs! The owner was always available to answer any questions or give information on the local area. Would highly recommend to anyone.

A lovely spacious Lodge. Great how it had a sofa bed too so you could have 6 people if needed. The owner was great, the hot tub was fabulous and it felt very private, great how you weren't being overlooked.

Really good spacious lodge in an ideal location for exploring Richmond and the surrounding villages.we went with 2 kids 10 and 13 and our pet dog.there was loads of walks and things to do most of the pubs let dogs in so you can have a pint and a meal then back to the lovely hot tub at the lodge to relax.the owner George and his wife were really friendly and helpful
