A great holiday had by all of us.. Very comfortable and excellent views of the shropshire hills. A warm welcome on arrival and then allowed to independently get on with our visit. Rowton Manor Cottage was a lovely base for a great little break.

We had a lovely time at Rowton Manor Cottage, it is in a beautiful, quiet location.. It was comfortable and well equipped (the kitchen was better equipped than many of the cottages we have stayed in) and there were enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate the whole family and also my mother who stayed for a few days too. It was great to have a large garden and the views of the surrounding countryside were lovely. We visited Ludlow, Church Stretton, Bishops Castle, Shrewsbury and the Long Mynd, all places we know well already. Our recommendations are Price & Sons bakery in Ludlow, which bakes bread the traditional way, and Ginger & Co coffee shop in Shrewsbury, for their delicious cakes - they also provide the cake for the Booka bookshop cafe in Oswestry, another place worth visiting.

Lovely spacious house with plenty of room for a big family group.. We had a 3 and 6 year old with us who loved the large garden as did the dog. There was plenty of living space for 5 adults and 2 children and we disnt feel on top of each other over the week. Excellent area to be based in.

Really enjoyed our stay.. Ideally located close to Ludlow and handy for supermarket shopping in Craven Arms. The owner kindly allowed us to walk our dog in the fields around the cottage which was ideal (no sheep at that time). Place is amazing for wildlife enthusiasts/birders as house martin nests all around the cottage. Also swifts flying over constantly. There are red kites (once very rare) that are circling and swooping around the fields and over the garden - amazing to see! Would recommend.

This is the second time that myself and my extended family have met up for Christmas at the cottage and its great, very homely, beautifully decorated and has everything you need to cook a Christmas dinner for 12.. We had a lovely time and its great not having to worry that there won't be something there that you need - because they have everything there! The location is great and the fact that you can see sheep from the windows and take a nice country walk in pretty much any direction you want it great for the kids.

A great holiday in a lovely house.. ..got a bit lost getting there..beware of going up park lane to get there on (sat nav).. this road is more of a farm track than a good road..make sure you use the proper route b4367 to get there and you'll be o.k I caught my front bumper on a large "stone" in someone's driveway don't you do the same...

We had a wonderful stay for Christmas at Rowton Manor Cottage.. On arrival we were met by our lovely host Linda who had decorated the house beautifully, lit the fire and provided mince pies, cake, Prosecco and mulled wine. The house was perfect to celebrate a wonderful family Christmas and even though the weather was a bit damp we enjoyed a couple of walks in the beautiful countryside, will definitely return

Yes, the scant directions to the cottage from Craven Arms were insufficient - we got lost.. If you had put more detailed directions we would probably not have had the stress at the end of a long journey. The owner, Linda had to come and find us and lead us to the cottage. Embarrassing! We loved the cottage it was very inviting, warm and comfortable, and the view from it was stunning. Linda was an excellent hostess.

This house is the perfect base for a family holiday in Shropshire. We were a party of six adults and a five-year-old. We received a friendly welcome from the owner, who had also left a lovely sponge cake, eggs and a bottle of wine for us in the kitchen. The house is very well equipped and there was plenty of room for all of us with ample seating both inside and in the garden. The house is easy to reach - but make sure you follow the owner's instructions and not your Sat-Nav! There is plenty of room for parking (we had three cars). We made good use of the barbecue as we were lucky with the weather. Craven Arms is a short drive away and has a good supermarket.

The cottage was very comfortable and suited our extended family exactly. We all felt quite at home, that makes a big difference to a holiday. Altogether a really good holiday in a lovely area. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We have just returned after 6 nights at this cottage. It is in a very rural and peaceful location, up a single track road close to Broome and Aston on Clun. On arrival we found the owner had left us a bottle of wine, vase of flowers, freshly laid eggs and a huge Victoria Sponge on the kitchen table - all lovely, thank you. There were 7 of us (all adults) and there was plenty of room. The kitchen has an Aga, which keeps the room lovely and cosy. (There is also a traditional hob & oven should you not wish to cook on the Aga.) The top floor could be considered self-contained with an en-suite bedroom (super king bed which can be separated to become two single beds), and lounge/kitchen/diner. This is handy if there are different generations who want to watch different things on the TV or play games whilst adults are using the loung downstairs! The only downsides are that the en-suite in the top floor does not have a shower, only a shower attachment; there seemed to be a blockage in the drainage of the handbasin in the Family Bathroom (water took ages to go down the plughole); and a lot of the crockery is chipped. That said, we had a great time there as the property has all that you could wish for in a holiday cottage.

The cottage was clean, warm and well equipped. We came during the lambing season and the adjacent field had a flock of sheep with very young lambs.

Liked the warm, friendly, welcome thoughtful touches. The cottage was excellent for a family group plus dog. Had a beautiful outlook even in middle of December! The wonderful Aga was great for cosy warmth and cooking a huge roast for us all. Enjoyed the whole weekend, definitely recommend it to everyone.

August 2014
Rowton Manor Cottage is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The peace and quiet was very much appreciated. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and it was lovely to find a gorgeous cake and bottle of wine when we arrived together with flowers in the kitchen. We enjoyed various walks and visits locally, Stokesay Castle and the drive over the Burway on the Long Mynd being highlights. We found Ludlow to be gem with the castle, markets and interesting shops and would recommend the Unicorn for lunch. There is still lots left to do so we will be back!

This is a very comfortable and spacious property equipped with everything you could possibly need. It has a lovely garden and is in a wonderful setting. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. This is the best property we have stayed at and I can't think of any negatives.

We had a very happy family break in the middle of February. From the moment of our arrival, the owners could not have been more helpful(we had Tesco delivery problems and no mobile phone signal !) Our party comprised several adults & 3 grandchildren and the house easily accommodated everyone - we used the top floor lounge as a "play/crafts room". The kitchen was also a warm and practical room with 2 fridges and 2 cookers !

We liked the wonderful warm welcome we received from the owner, the excellently presented home from home atmosphere. The cake, chocolate, fresh eggs and wine left for us by the owner. The AGA cooking experience and a warm cosy but very big house to unwind in. The walk to the dog friendly pub.

A spectacular Grade II listed large country cottage only a short distance from Craven Arms, Shropshire. The Cottage is spacious, very clean, comfortable and always felt extremely homely during our thoroughly enjoyable stay. We booked Rowton Manor Cottage to celebrate a 30th Birthday with family (7 guests) and we were overwhelmed with the property and location itself but also by the kindness and generosity of the owners. On arrival we were greeted with a homemade sponge cake, bottle of wine and box of chocolates. The owners, who live in the property next door, were extremely friendly and helpful at all time and we enjoyed an evening drink with them to which they were really great company. Whilst staying at the Cottage we travelled to nearby attractions in Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Powis Castle in Wales and most enjoyable of all Acton Scott Historic Working Farm and Stokesay Castle! We had a absolutely fantastic family holiday at Rowton Manor Cottage and would certainly highly recommend and visit again!

The house was lovely, warm and comfortable with the bonus of the extra lounge in the suite upstairs. There was plenty of room for us to relax. Beautifully decorated for Christmas with a real tree in the main family room and plenty of equipment in the kitchen to cook Christmas dinner. No one wanted to leave.

A large property in a rural location a short distance from Craven arms. Aga in the kitchen and wood burner in the downstairs lounge very good for drying wet clothes!Well supplied with all amenities, spacious, a second upstairs lounge a plus. Owners very helpful and friendly, living next door. Clean on arrival, but previous tenants had not properly washed crockery and cutlery: we had to re-do them all.
