Rose Cottage in Whitchurch, Shropshire

Very disappointed with the cleanliness, it's safe to say that a deep clean is very much required. No basics ie: loo roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid. A foul smelling washing up sponge in the sink. Dog poo in the garden. Had to wash up all crockery & utensils before use! Hand prints & food residue on the fridge door, dirty pans & baking trays, not a fantastic holiday for my 50th birthday at all. The flies were very challenging, Plug in air fresheners everywhere trying to mask the septic tank & wet dog smell. You could make a cushion for the sofa with the dog fur down the sides of it!! Owners dogs are not the friendliest, watching their reaction to someone walking past does not give you faith in letting your own dog out to toilet, especially as the boundary fence is at the edge of the decking to the property. It was certainly a 50th birthday to remember... unfortunately for all the wrong reasons!!

Enclosed garden needs to be more Dog secure.. Kitchen cupboards require more loving care. Outside lights not very good only one working.

Liyerally just had the best 4 night stay ever, the cottage was absolutely lovely, the surrounding areas were just as good, could not of wished for anything better ! Definitely booking up again

Cottage was very damp and cold ( o k it was october ) their was five de- humidifiers one in the lounge two in the bedroom and two in the bathroom , outside lighting was very poor returning after an evening meal .. not what we expected

The description and photos are not accurate and this is due to them being out of date.. The garden has been reduced in size due to a fence being in place and this is not shown in the photo. There is not a stereo system in the property, though it features in the photos. Also we could not see a BBQ at the property. The property’s cleanliness is not at a standard that is expected from a holiday rental. The fridge and cupboards have not been cleaned for a long time. The shower area has also not had a thorough clean for a long time. Also outside the entrance there is an old mop and bucket which is so old that plants are growing out of the mop. We had to give everything a clean before we used it, e.g. the fridge and the kettle etc. Also the sofa is old and extremely uncomfortable. My husband had to sit on a dining chair all week. The location of the cottage is beautiful and the cottage has a homely and cosy charm. If the above criticisms were resolved it would be absolutely perfect.

Location of the cottage was great especially for our dogs with the enclosed paddock and plenty of space.. Local knowledge of walks would have been helpful. We found some walks which were on the doorstep eventually. The cottage is comfortable, warm and loads of space for the dogs. No WiFi which was good because you’re not tempted to sit on your phone etc. This was one of our best holidays .

This cottage is wonderful.. Had a relaxing week and dogs loved the large enclosed safe garden. We would definately go again.

Cleanliness in bathroom needs to improve especially around shower.. Some basics missing in kitchen grater , sieve , cleaning materials. Attention to detail in decoration, no welcome pack only a hand written book with very little information, nothing about local dog walks or dog friendly pubs.

Rose Cottage is surprisingly larger inside than the photograph would suggest, which was a pleasant surprise.. Located in lovely countryside it is perfect for anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful break.

5.5 miles to local shops/pub, no wi fi or phone signal but if you can cope with that it is the perfect retreat for piece and quiet, privacy and a great garden for the dogs to play.. Owners were lovely and very helpful.

The cottage was lovely.. Clean, excellent enclosed garden for dogs..plus extra field to go in. Cosy when heating was on. No Wi-Fi A little remote but lovely if you love the countryside. Mr Bailey couldn't do enough to help. Shooting school quite nearby...OK if your dogs don't mind.

The setting and the lovely countryside, was fabulous, it was great for our dogs very secure garden for them to run around.. would highly recommend this cottage.

The property is in a very quiet rural location , which suited us as we like the piece and quiet .. ...but you are out in the 'sticks ' and this wouldn't suit everybody . We had our two dogs with us both 14 years old and as one doesn't walk so well it was perfect with a huge garden and fields ajecent for us to walk in. The cottage is much larger then it looks on the photos and it's plenty big enough inside for a couple and dogs. The settee isn't that comfy and the only other seating is at the table and chairs in the kitchen area . Although the weather was nice when we were there and we sat outside also . There is a bench and a picnic table . The cottage was warm we did put the Heaters on one night when it went about chilly. They made it nice and cosy. There were lots of plates cutlery and pots and pans. The kettle wasn't very nice as it was really very full off lime scale I know this is tricky if you live in an area with this problem ....but it either needs to be cleaned out or perhaps buy cheap kettles that can easily be replaced ....I just boiled water in a pan for making a drink it wasn't a problem . . Cooker was great ...nice big oven ...washer great.....nice big long line to peg out on. Nice fridge freezer .Shower was nice and warm although again think head needed a clean out due to limescale as water from head was coming out at all angels . Bed was comfy ....the owner was lovely extremely friendly we saw him on arrival and he welcomed us...we didn't see him after that s he was away . He made us feel most welcome and told us directions for shops and to make full use of the garden etc. There were lots of nice books in the cottage of which I read some , andgames , magazines The drive down to the cottage is down a long lane in places this it extremely narrow ...can be tricky if other cars Lorries are coming in the opposite direction as there a few passing places . It's not many minutes from Shrewsbury in one direction and market Drayton in the other and some smaller places in between worth a visit all very dog friendly . A week was a little long for us and we felt that a 4 day break would of suited us better . Only because like I said our dogs are old and we felt we had been to most places and see what we wanted to see and do. We did enjoy our stay very much , we felt the price we paid was a good one the distance we travelled was easy as it didn't take us long to get there...and the owner was lovely and said we could get in by dinner time ...so we had a full day. Often you can't get in till the afternoon so that was great. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to get away from it all the scenery is stunning and if you enjoy being outdoors ,walking, countryside this would be right up your street . And this cottage is extremely dog friendly ....that for us was brilliant ! thank you for making us and two old dogs very happy!

A little piece of heaven - positively idyllic! Such a beautiful cottage in the most lovely of settings! It was beautifully equipped, more spacious than expected and with the comfiest of beds - we slept like never before! Cannot recommend it highly enough, we spent a wonderful few days in peace and tranquillity. We will definitely be back. The dogs loved it and the secure garden was great fun for them to explore!

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Rose Cottage, the large garden was excellent and our Labrador Bonnie loved chasing her ball on it, she wasn't sure of the chickens though! The cottage was very cosy and comfortable and we would recommend it to anyone, hopefully we will return very soon.

We enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage as it was in a lovely area. There were lots of places to visit and we would like to go back to this area and do some walking. Shropshire is lovely and we would go back in the summer months to really explore it.

Spent a week at rose cottage in July it was wonderful cottage was everything you could want in holiday. We had our 3 dogs with us 2 German Shepherds and medium size dog and there was more than enough space for them inside the cottage and we loved that it was all one level.The outside garden was great for them to run around in and the owner Craig was so friendly and helpful we even had eggs from his chickens, which tasted amazing. We loved it so much we have booked another week in September. There is just so many great walks on your door steps and lovely eating places and if you did not want to drive there is a great walk outside your door.

The garden was great for our dogs and the cottage was a lot bigger than we first thought. The owner was really friendly and helpful. The cottage was so near to lots of great canal walks, there were also walks on your doorstep if you didn't want to drive.

Really enjoyed our week here, the dogs loved it more. The garden was large and secure and the cottage was exactly what we needed. A perfect week away, it was peaceful, quiet and relaxing.

A relaxing get away from it all holiday, with a fantastic garden for the dogs. Lovely walks straight from the cottage if you didn't want to head off in the car, but if you did there is plenty to choose from a short distances away. A very helpful owner who welcomed us when we arrived and explained how everything worked, would definitely love to return.

Excellent facilities inside, a large garden and lots of incline free walks around the immediate vicinity. A very peaceful area and within easy reach of many places of interest to visit.

The cottage was well furnished and was in a great, peaceful location. The large enclosed garden was ideal for our dog to safely roam around and the surrounding area is perfect for long walks. Would definitely recommend to family and friends and I'm sure we'll be back ourselves at some point!

The owner was a very nice chap, very helpful and friendly. We visit National Trust houses and were very pleased to be able to fit in 13 properties during our stay at Rose Cottage. The weather was very good so all in all we enjoyed our holiday very much.

The remoteness and tranquillity of the area. The enclosed garden was ideal and safe for dogs and the additional paddock was a bonus. Such a lovely place to unwind and relax. Central to all major attractions and being able to explore Shropshire.

The Cottage was great, the garden is even better! Loved every minute of it. We hope to return.

Excellent fully enclosed garden for the dog. Very quiet and relaxing.

We are normally up and out sightseeing early in the morning but found ourselves strolling down the lane outside the cottage with our dogs and chilling in the garden until early afternoon. We felt a million miles away from work and went home feeling recharged and looking forward to our next visit. Thanks to the owner for making us so welcome.

Super cottage in a lovely area of the country, you can walk for miles without seeing anyone. Nice and big enclosed garden, perfect for letting the dogs have a good run around. Plenty of seating in the garden to enjoy the weather and peace and quiet. Inside, the cottage is finished to a high standard, everything you need for a nice comfortable break. Good communication from the owner, all round a lovely relaxing break.

There was everything we needed at the cottage. Loved the enclosed garden and the size of it, we could comfortably leave the dog in the garden without watching constantly, knowing he was safe. The owner was friendly and approachable, lovely surroundings.

Rose Cottage is a beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped cottage with a huge, enclosed garden ideal for dogs. The owner is friendly and welcoming. The cottage is set in peaceful, tranquil surroundings, not far from Shrewbury. Highly recommended, and we will be back!

If you like walking, and a peaceful setting you will want to stay here. We had a wonderful week and our dog loved it, so much space to run around safely. Owner friendly, helpful and responsive. Cottage is well appointed, clean, in a great setting and adequately private. Situation is great for touring in Shropshire, however, the siting very rural and a drive is necessary to shop. This is a very minor drawback, but planning your food shop required!

We enjoyed the tranquil surroundings and isolated location of the property. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The condition of the cottage was good due to it being a new build. We would recommend this property to others for a restful break in the country side.

The cottage was remote and peaceful, but near enough to main roads for easy access to local amenities and attractions. The Fox and Hound Pub in Shawbury was excellent for food.
