The owner was very helpful when I phoned him about the keycode.. We were able to borrow a cot, high chair and stair gate at the property without extra charge. Usually we have found that these items are costly extras. The property was very clean and tidy and they have made it as safe as possible during the present climate leaving extra cleaning products for our use. They also left us a bottle of wine, some bread and milk on our arrival.

Loved the cottage, it was clean and comfortable with everything we needed.. Good location. It was very quiet which we loved. The trains didn't bother us as they ran infrequently. Loved watching the birds and chickens wandering about. The cockerel was a nice alarm clock. The welcome pack was a pleasant surprise and the owners were very helpful when I contacted them with a couple of queries. We had a relaxing week with plenty of walks and I would recommend this cottage

A really well equipped cottage which is spacious and easily accommodated 5 adults.. great location for exploring Snowdonia and surrounding area. the beach is lovely and very close but would recommend driving the very short distance, especially if you have young children as the walk is initially along a main road with no footpath

This charming cottage provided a comfortable, private and clean space for our family of 5 adults on a week's 'staycation' in the first week of August this summer.. Set away from the main road, it was quiet yet close enough to the beach in Fairbourne for short local walks and longer walks and cycling to Barmouth located on the other side of the estuary. The back garden provided ideal shelter to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine. We had real feeling of being at the seaside and close to countryside and the breathtaking scenery around us. Communication with the owners was excellent and we felt very welcome. One thing to bear in mind - there is no public footpath to access Fairbourne on foot through the fields as there is a train track that runs behind the Railway Cottage (the very few trains that pass during the day did not disturb our peace whatsoever). So if walking to Fairbourne, this involves a very short walk of approx 150 m along the edge of the main road until the turning off to Fairbourne and the paved path is reached. By car, it takes a couple of minutes and there is free parking around Fairbourne.

On arriving at the cottage, the outside area at the front looked dismal , there were chickens roaming about .. ... the chickens themselves not a problem but the chickens mess up the garden path was a problem .....sitting outside would not have been pleasant ...however there was another outside space at the back of the cottage that was pleasant .the inside of the cottage was lovely ..bedding was immaculate and fresh overall cottage interior lovely outside just needs an overall

Only one complaint and that is the inaccurate information about the internet.. Yes there is access to the internet but only if you pay for each device to have access. At £30 for over two weeks per device it is excessive.

We've had a great stay at No 2 Railway Cottages, a clean, well equiped home with plenty of room for us 4 (2 adult & 2 children).. The veiws are ace. The house has a great heating system and additional wood burner. I'd recommend it to anyone we will defiantly be coming back . The owners Mike & Amy where very helpful to us also. Some reviews stated concerns about car parking we had no such problem there is a driveway at the front of the house that belongs to the house .. no worries there .. 10/10

Nice cottage, very clean, but the outside parking & gardens let the cottage down..

After navigating the holes and puddles in the road leading to the cottage, we arrived there to a pleasant surprise. We had been left bread, milk and a bottle of wine which was a reall nice touch. The rooms are spacious and every need catered for. A log fire, and outdoor patio furniture, but those really aren't important, it's important that the basics are right, here they fall well short of anybody's expectations. On the surface it looks clean, but deep down it most certainly ain't. The kitchen units, especially under the sink, smell badly of damp, even the wall units. All the crockery we intended to use had to be washed and left out on the worktop. Only the fridge and microwave were something like. The hob had grease marks running down the side and rust marks on the elements. The toaster was quite full of old breadcrumbs. Windows hadn't been cleaned for weeks, something we had to do. Old food jammed down between the leather cushions, cobwebs everywhere and weeds in the outside patio area in abundance. The beds and linen were clean and crisp, but carpets were filthy, the kitchen floor was disgusting, looks like it's never seen a mop, or had disinfectant on it from people walking chicken poo in that you find on the path. I could go on forever with faults in this cottage. The main thing that does concern me is the electrics here. The main cooker point is 75mm away from the back cooker ring , the place where the washer plugs in, dangerous or what.!! Has this cottage got a certificate .? The bathroom is another disaster area where a hole in the floor is covered by a bath mat.! The whole cottage has black damp patches, I understand it is old but in this day and age in can be dealt with. This is our first experience in renting a holiday cottage and perhaps our last

The cottage had everything we needed and the garden was lovely to sit in in the evening sun. There was lots to do in the nearby area. The miniature railway in the village was lovely and the train/ferry to Barmouth made for a good day out. There was lots of lovely walks such as blue lake and railway bridge to Barmouth. We would definitely book the cottage again.

Surprisingly spacious, and would be comfortable for a group of five.

Lovely, well presented terraced cottage in a fantastic location. The cottage seemed to have everything we needed, even down to DVDs to watch and games to play in the evening. Fairbourne, the nearest village, has a main line railway station, a miniature steam railway, a lovely beach, and the best value for money fish and chip shop. We had a lovely week, and felt very at home in the cottage.

The cottage was very homely and had everything needed for a self catering property. The garden was perfect for sitting out in in the evening. We loved the chickens. The cottage was suitably located so that everything we wanted to visit was not too far away. Despite being warned about Wales' wet weather we had a fantastic week of sunshine. We were impressed with the milk and bread etc which was there when we arrived. There was plenty of information about Fairbourne and the local amenities. A perfect holiday home for grown ups or families. Thanks.

We arrived to find a beautiful well decorated cottage with nice gardens front and back. The cottage was very spacious, very well fitted out with everything you would need to make the stay comfortable. We was welcomed with a supply of tea, coffee, sugar and bread and a nice bottle of wine. The bed linen and towels were of good quality and clean. We were located very near the railway station so if we didn't want to drive we could still get out and about. The only bad thing we could say is the private road we had to drive up to get access to the cottage was not maintained and unfortunatley the weeks before our holiday the weather was terrible and the road was full of big pot holes full of dirty rainwater. The week we were there the weather was very good and we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to our friends and family.

Convenient access to public transport. The property itself was comfortable, warm and very well equipped. Also there was sufficient cleaning materials and equipment to allow us to leave the cottage how we found it. The welcome pack was a lovely touch.

Quality furnishings, comfy beds, milk, bread and wine on arrival, cleaning at the end of our first week. Digital radios and video recorder were great. Decent selection of books.

August 2012
The accommodation was lovely with plenty of living space and decent size bedrooms. The welcome provisions were very good too. A short walk to the beach and lots of walks nearby to explore, or even a train service up or down the coast meant the car hardly moved from the parking space.

May 2011
The location was good, lots of lovely walks and the shops provided everything in Fairbourne. Stunning scenery, very warm and a very comfortable cottage. All amenities provided for. Bottle of wine, milk and bread on arrival. Also, sugar, coffee and tea. Extremely nice welcome. We were very happy all round and wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend.

February 2011
The finishing touches always make a difference, we received milk and bread on our arrival, plastic plates and bowls so we didn't have to worry about the children breaking the crockery, washing up liquid and hand soap. These little things make an excellent property become a superlative one. Excellent value for a spacious property. The Location was very accessible for the whole of Snowdonia, but if you didn't want to travel far there are some excellent places right on your doorstop.
