Prospect Cottage is a traditional cottage in the hamlet of Staveley-in-Cartmel near Newby Bridge. The cottage has two double rooms and a room with adult bunks. There is a bathroom on the first floor and a ground floor shower room. The kitchen has a dining area with open fire and leads to a small sitting area, while the cosy sitting room also has an open fire. Outside is a front patio area, as well as off road parking for two cars. Prospect Cottage is ideally placed for enjoying the Lake District with its watersports, walking and other family attractions.

Area
Set amidst the breathtaking Lake District scenery, the pretty hamlet of Staveley-in-Cartmel near Newby Bridge makes an excellent place from which to explore the rest of this lovely region. A great way to see the wonderful local scenery is on the famous Furness Railway which runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge, or take a look at the Aquarium of the Lakes which uses naturally themed habitats to bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Lake Windermere itself offers some magnificent views, as do the surrounding fells and the picturesque village of Hawkshead - a place that inspired such internationally well known authors as William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.

Charming, cosy and clean cottage in a fantastic location.. Only a 10min walk to the Swan which served great food! The views from the front of the house were magical. Didn’t realise how close it was to lake Windermere and main roads for travelling.

Prospect Cottage is situated in the most idyllic spot with gorgeous views all around and close to fabulous walks.. We stayed there for New Year and it was the perfect cosy cottage for seeing in the new year. The cottage is well maintained and equipped and comfortable. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Prospect Cottage.

The cottage is beautiful, well decorated and very clean.. It has space and its facilities (heating, Internet...) work well. The location is also great, we were able to start walks from the cottage. Gill was a fantastic host. She made sure everything was working, replied quickly and even allowed for a later checkout. We really enjoyed our stay.

Excellent cottage in beautiful tranquil surroundings.. Would highly recommend it. Only issue with the cottage was that the shower pressure is a little on the low side. Maybe worth considering a change to a power shower if possible but that is our only criticism. Apart from that, it was a perfect little home from home.

Part of the group arrived at night so they were surprised to see the amazing view from our front window of the surrounding countryside. The cottage itself was clean and cosy. There is a narrow gauge railway in the village but was pre-paid ticket only for the Santa rides so we caught the Lakeside train instead to Haverthwaite. It was great to see the country side without having to go in the car. We loved the cottage and location so much we have booked for a week next year.

We love the open fires, that is why we searched for properties with fires in winter time. The cottage was superb with fantastic views at the front. I loved every room in the cottage and the TV den in the kitchen was fantastic for our 4 year old. We are definitely coming back. It is also within easy driving distance of towns around the lake.

The location was perfect for accessing lots of activities, but also very quiet and tucked away. Loved having the sheep in the field opposite! Comfy beds, cosy house and lovely location. Great to have 2 living areas to allow the family to spread out.

We all had the most wonderful time at Prospect Cottage! I chose the cottage as it fitted all my criteria but it actually surpassed expectation. The setting is perfect - so peaceful with the most gorgeous views. The cottage is spacious and well equipped - I loved the stripped doors, polished floors, fireplaces and sash windows. So lovely in fact that we would all like to move and in and will definitely be back!

The cottage was stunning, and it was like a home from home. It had everything we needed and felt very spacious yet still cosy (especially with the open fires!). It was close to the motorway yet still close to lots of attractions, you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere but it was easy to reach local amenities. Sitting out in the front garden in the afternoon evening sun with the view from the cottage. The spaciousness of the cottage and the incredibly large quantity range of cutlery, crockery kitchen equipment. The effective heating hot water system.The purpose was to take part in Lake District 5 day orienteering event I very much enjoyed that, especially the two days I performed much better than I often do. Levens Hall gardens are terrific. The view from the finish at the top of Pike O Blisco on day 4.

The cottage was immaculate, stylish, yet simple. The perfect location for mountain biking, running, walking and dining out, and inside in the wonderful kitchen.
