A compact cottage, plenty of room for two adults, a squash for 4 adults. The cottage had everything that we needed and was in a great location. We had a few issues with the shower and wi-fi but the owner sorted them and refunded us some money for the inconvenience. Overall would return here.

The place was a little bit grubby, stains on the carpets, walls and furniture.. But it had everything you need, a view of the lake. If you arent steady on your feet I wouldn't recommend as it is either up a steep hill or steep steps to get to the housing. It was perfect for what we needed it for and the price was good.

Lovely location .. .. very peaceful with only a short walk into Windermere . The cottage is cozy and the bed in really comfortable , which I exactly what you want after a days walking in the hills.

This cottage is ideal for two or, for example, two people with two young children.. It would be cramped for four adults. This however is understood in the web site description. The location and parking are very good for an area that can be very busy.

Great location, a little dated but still offered everything you could need for a few days stay.. Would recommend this accommodation to friends and family.

This cottage is in an ideal location and has a lovely outlook.. Whilst as a couple we had plenty of room I think it would be a bit small for four. Generally very well equipped though some hooks to hang coats etc on would be nice. We would certainly book it again.

This was my third visit to Priory Ghyll - 2016 2018 and 2019 First the positives The location is superb even though it took us 90 minutes to find on our first visit.. The cottage has a bay window overlooking Lake Windermere which is simply beautiful. There’s a private jetty a 5 minutes walk down a lane with a bench you can use to sit in peace and watch the boats and ferries sail by. The cottage is well equipped with everything you’ll need including towels. Negatives There are 2 sofas in the living room which really do need replaced, they were hard and uncomfortable in 2016 and are still in use now (April 2019). Every year I went back I expected they’d been renewed but they haven’t. Heating is poor, we were cold. The main radiator in the living room works but not well, the fire works sporadically. There’s a small portable heater under a side table, it works but there’s a burning smell when on high. The radiators in both bedrooms are new, it’s a puzzle to me why all the heaters weren’t replaced at the same time. There’s only hot water if no one is using the shower, you have to turn a lever above the bathroom door to either hot water or shower but not both. The shower head is situated quite low, if you’re tall then you need to bend down to wash your hair. There are loads of cottages in Priory Cottages to rent so I’ve booked next year with a different one I love the location , I love the view but need to be warm and be able to sit comfortably If you’re on a tight budget then Priory Ghyll would suit as it’s the lowest priced of all the cottages there, if you have a bit more cash then book a different one

Cottage was fine, shower was very hard to use.. Information on how to get to cottage very poor, took us three hours to find the place instructions need to be more specific.Place does not come up on Google Maps. Other than these issues we had a lovely stay and would recommend location and cottage.

We stayed in this beautiful cottage over new year and the owners had put up a Christmas tree for us which was a nice touch, made it feel homely. Cottage is all on one level, a living area, dining area and kitchen all in one. A wonderful view greets you each morning where you can see part of the lake. As it’s set into a hill, you can get stunning sunrises and sunsets over the lake. The cottage has access to a private jetty and people where canoeing on the lake from a nearby cottage. It’s a lovely quiet spot. Two well maintained bedrooms, one double and one set of bunk beds in the other and a high spec bathroom. The only trouble we had was with the heating system, we couldn’t get it to work in the kids bedroom so had to use the fan heater provided. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need for a stay here (utensils, crockery etc, they even left us some kitchen roll and washing items which was great. It s a little out of the centre of Windermere and the kids wouldn’t want to walk it. Bowness is further again but both are reached within 5 minutes by car. Highly recommend and we would love to visit again.

Sykes we're brilliant at responding to a broken switch which turned on the hot water and had it fixed ASAP.. The cottage really stank of damp though and had black mold by the sides of cupboards where it was easily visible. Dirty in places like shower and in kitchen. Very dusty underneath beds and sofas etc so no good for anyone with allergies. Good facilities and great location but let down by not having a good clean. Very musty and damp.

We stayed here as a family of 4. Children aged 11 and 8 years. The location is a little out of town. But the shops in Windermere are a short drive or 15 min walk away. And Bowness is roughly 30 mins walk. The facilities are ideal for what we needed. We did use the cooker! And we even completed the jigsaw (a really nice touch!). The property is located in a cute communal ground with two parking spaces. And a short walk down the drive will take you to the most idyllic private jetty out to Windermere! We skimmed stones, watched the boats and I even sat on the end and had a glass of wine :-) Beautiful! We saw a ‘couple’ of Pheasants! And even the deer! We used the property as a base to enjoy the local tourist attractions and travel further afield to the Ambleside Waterfalls and Keswick. We loved it!

Wonderful holiday and great accommodation, close to nature and fab views over the lakes but close enough to Bowness and Windermere for lovely restaurants and bars..

The cottage is ideally places in Windermere for walking between Bowmess and Ambleside.. We wanted somewhere we could relax in the evening and this was ideal for the money.

The cottage was comfortable and warm, with wonderful views across Lake Windermere to the fells beyond. The kitchen, though small, was well-equipped with everything we needed. The main bedroom was comfortable with plenty of storage space. We were able to do the trip without a car, as the cottage was close to the rail station and good bus services, and there was also much to see and do within walking distance. Thanks for a wonderful holiday.

Priory Ghyll accommodation was simple but had all you needed we didn't feel it missed out on anything. It's not big accommodation but we found it plenty big enough for the 4 of us. we have an 11 year old son and a 14 year old daughter. We found the location of the property for our first visit to the lake district to be ideal, for walking around the local area or driving out to other areas. You can walk to Windermere in around 15mins and to Bowness in about 45 mins (we are not fast walkers). You can walk part of the way to Bowness along the lake shore. The view from the property is beautiful with deers in the evening running around. The direct shore access is just a couple of minutes walk down the path great if you have a canoe but you can not walk around the lake from here.

The cottage is in good position, a quiet location. It was easy to get hold of the key. The cottage had everything we needed along with clear instructions for all the appliances and use of hot water, shower etc. For the money it was good value. Would go again.
