September 2020
The cottage is stunning with everything you could need for a fabulous holiday.. The utility room was a fabulous drying room without ever putting on the heating. The views on a clear dry day across the Menai were amazing, even on a wet day they weren’t bad either

Lovely, spacious cottage overlooking the Menai Straits and Anglesey. The place was spotless when we arrived and was very well equipped. I loved that there were shelves and hooks and storage spaces to put our stuff. This is very high up on my requirements. The rooms were of good size, with a good utility room to put our shoes and other outdoor things. The location was great and very quiet, close to many tourist spots and 3 mins drive from Greenwood Adventure Park, which my kids loved. 5 mins walk down to the local village down a path that was steep in parts, but my 3 year old and MIL with a bad hip managed it most evenings, so it was fine. It's not for buggies or wheelchairs though. I'd highly recommend La Marina in Y Felinheli, where the food was amazing. The owners live next door and were extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone.

The location was cracking; the accommodation lovely.. Warm and cosy when the chill set in and sufficiently stocked with immediate essentials Y Felinheli is a lovely little coastal village that I know well, so to spot this cottage on Sykes was great! In addition to the high quality accommodation, on the doorstep you’ll find: farm land, coastline, footpaths, Thai food, fish and chips, tapas, two pubs, and a coffee shop all within 10 minutes of the front door. There’s also a local convenience store with a post office, or a large Tesco 10minute drive away. All that and a cute elevated verandah with sunset views out along the straits......what more could you ask for?! We’d had to move the booking from our original dates in March due to “you know what” so we were really pleased to have this stay to look forward to - the cottage was great, and we would be very happy to recommend to others. Thank you.

August 2020
We had a lovely week at Penrallt Cottage.. We’ve been holidaying in Wales for years but still discovering new places. Newborough woods and beach were amazing, parking in the woods to get to the beach is a long walk but you can take bikes which we did. We also cycled to Caernarfon on the Lon Las Menai cycle route which was nice and flat, great for the kids. The cottage is very well equipped, great living space and a lovely big kitchen with everything you need, we cooked most nights. The shower is great and the wood burner was lovely and cosy in the evenings. Not shown in the pictures is a beautiful raised decking area where we sat and had dinner most nights taking in the gorgeous view of the Menai Straight and Anglesey, and watching the sun set. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and easily contactable. The only thing that would have made it a perfect stay was the beds, the bed in the far bedroom was very hard and it really could have done with one king size bed at least. The children could feel the springs in the mattresses in the bunk bed and had to sleep on the duvets for comfort. Overall though we really enjoyed our holiday.

Stayed for a long weekend and the weather was good (albeit cold) - having breakfast looking out over the Menai Straights and Anglesey was superb - a well equipped cottage with plenty of space and very quiet away from all the roads. Thoroughly recommended.

December 2019
As we were away at the end of November/beginning of December in North Wales, the weather was more than likely to be cold! However, the Cottage was superb and WARM! It is the first time in 50+ years that we have visited Wales and not felt rain! The Cottage is ideally placed overlooking the Menai Straits - what a view for meals! There was every amenity included that was necessary for a relaxing break. It was great having the owners close by - and delightful to meet him. Thank you Sykes - and thank you to the owners of the Cottage! We hope to return again to recharge our batteries!

June 2018
Property is generally very nice, however, both external doors were difficult to lock and unlock especially for older persons or those with less hand mobility.. Also the bathroom and bedroom doors although quirky, were warped, again, making difficult to open and close. The shower/wc door is of a sliding type in similar construction to the others and was difficult to close and also very noisy especially at night, as the bottom of the door rubbed on the plaster adjacent. Also, on the last night when trying to get a good sleep for a long drive back, the owner's dog decided to bark and eventually stopped at 12.20 am. An apology was forthcoming the following morning but this didn't really help having spoiled what had been an enjoyable week. I would now think twice about going back!!!!

October 2013
My father and I booked a weeks holiday at Penrallt Cottage and we fell in love with the cottage as soon as we arrived. The weather was fine and the views across the Menai Strait were fantastic. The cottage had everything that we needed for a relaxing week's holiday. We met Osian the owner who was very polite and friendly and gave us useful advice on nearby attractions, eateries etc. Penrallt is situated ideally for a base to explore and enjoy North Wales and Anglesey. The weather did turn colder/wetter towards the end of the week, then it was the end of September/beginning of October and it never stopped us getting out and about. Only disappointment was getting on the steam train for the top of Snowdon in sunny weather, but by the time we reached the summit it was a complete white-out! We will just have to come back again! All in all a brilliant week in a lovely cottage in a beautiful country!
Mr Stone
September 2013

September 2013
It is a wonderful view from a wonderful cottage. This has been the highlight of our stay so far in the UK. We love the look of the old exterior, but the interior is modern clean and very comfortable. The location up on a hill is great, and makes it feel as though we are miles from town, yet the drive to shopping and dining is short. The location is also convenient to Caernarfon and Conwy, and we even made a quick run to Holyhead. I would suggest that those travelling to the UK spend less time in London and more time here in North Wales, we wish we had!

December 2009
A perfect place to stay: - the cottage is very good and high-class equipped - it is very comfortable for 6 persons - the people who let the house are living beside. They are very friendly and cooperative if there is a question - the area around the cottage and the views are very lovely (the sunsets are sensational) - it is a good place to start activities as e.g. to Snowdon, Canaerfon, Bangor, Anglesey, Conwy, the Ffestiniog Railway - also the weather was ok - most of the time dry and sometimes a bit of sunshine. We had a nice week.
Mr & Mrs B
December 2009
The cottage was well-equipped, nicely-furnished and very comfortable. The lovely views over the Menai Straits were gorgeous and we had excellent weather to appreciate them fully. We enjoyed our holiday very much. Only 3 less-positive comments: The '5 mins downhill walk' was over-optimistic re. timing and it is pretty steep. (We are fit and regularly walk in the countryside but after doing the walk on the first evening we didn't repeat it.) Access by car involves negotiating a very sharp left turn. We coped but wouldn't recommend it for a nervous driver. The 'written directions' mention a 'sharp left turn' but I would add the word 'very' to emphasise that. We were disappointed at the 'selection of pubs,restaurants...' as there was only one pub within a short walking distance of the cottage and the meal we had there was very poor. Your description of Y Felinheli suggested a more thriving community with a good selection of eating places. We would have liked to have eaten out in the village more often.
