The cottage was jus that we was looking for a peaceful holiday.. The owners was lovely. The only Bad thing is that it didn’t have some kitchen utensils which we need but other then that it was great.

This is a superb holiday cottage.. Comfortable and warm with lovely home touches and a garden to die for. The location is very private but the owners are just up the lane if you need anything. Walking from the door is excellent and property very dog friendly. Fully enclosed garden except for stream but not a problem with our dog.

This beautiful cottage, was superbly located in the unspoilt Cieriog Valley.. Wonderful walks from the front door , Chirk 15 minutes away, along with some lovely scenic drives. We certainly will return and the owners are really helpful and do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderful holiday.

When you use terms like wifi access the description should mean a reliable connection, not just a sporadic slow connection.. It would be better to inform that the connection is unreliable.

A beautiful homely cottage in an idyllic location, in close proximity to numerous things to see and do.. Lots of wildlife to see too. Horse riding close by at Springhill farm which allowed me to fully appreciate the beauty of the ceiriog valley. All in all, a fantastic holiday.

The cottage was brilliant really nice and clean .. It was everything we wanted very peaceful and quiet. Their is plenty of places to go for walks as soon as you step outside of the cottage. There was a few pubs nearby for top class food and we would definitely recommend the cottage . Also like to thank Sykes for their assistance and help

Lovely cottage in a gorgeous location.. The owner Lynn had left us a welcome tray for our arrival which included Welsh cakes, a thoughtful touch. The cottage made an ideal venue for a family reunion.

The cottage exceeded our expectations.. We enjoyed the quality of a high standard hotel, the convenience of Home and the rural setting of a camp site, what an amazing place.

A lovely cottage, exactly as described on the website.. The only thing that wasn’t quite the same was taken from a few of the reviews...which say the garden was great for dogs as it was fully enclosed. The cottage description hadn’t said that so it’s not the owners fault but just to point out that the stream isn’t enclosed so once in the stream, the dog can just walk along it and put onto the farm road. The rest of the garden is fully fenced but we couldn’t leave our golden retriever out in the garden without constant supervision as he would just walk alongside the stream and out! Saying that, the cottage, garden and surroundings were just so super relaxing and stunningly peaceful that the enclosed garden thing didn’t matter really. Everything was well catered for and really clean and there was enough broad band to keep our teen son happy! Would definitely recommend Pen Y Bont for a rural getaway.

A wonderful cottage, converted by the owners to an incredibly high standard. The cottage features everything you could possibly need during your stay, from a log burner ideal for the cold Welsh nights to a fully enclosed garden which our dog loved. The cottage is in an extraordinarily peaceful location, many mornings we sat for hours in the kitchen with the patio doors open listening to the birds and the stream. It is also perfect for walkers as you can set off from the cottage without having to drive anywhere, from short strolls to energetic daily walks there is plenty for everyone. For others that would rather shop Llangollen is not far with plenty of places to eat if you would rather not cook. I could not recommend this enough we love it.

We have been in many cottages throughout the UK over the last 15 years, this one is the best.. Excellent facilities, wonderful setting & gloriously tranquil. Have never seen 4 lambs chasing a pheasant before, & this occurred in the field 20 metres from the patio.

This is a beautiful house with a lovely garden in a great walking area.. The kitchen was a delight to sit in with views all around. The living room was comfortable and cosy. The snug, with a small desk, was a great asset for teenagers working for exams and the bedrooms and bathrooms were great. The large boot room was a very useful addition with plenty of room for muddy boots and coats. The owners were helpful and welcoming.

We had a perfect week at this lovely cottage as the place was so clean and and had everything we needed for our stay.. The bed was comfortable and the underfloor heating in the main bathroom was perfect on chilly mornings. This place is perfect for a relaxing break as it is so quiet, the only noise the sound of the bubbling stream, bird song or sheep up on the hill. The view from the kitchen was stunning with the full height doors in glass overlooking the stream and a stand of trees. We watched buzzards high above the hill as we sat at the kitchen table. There are plenty of walks direct from the cottage which is great if you want fresh air and don't want to drive. We had our dog with us and found lots of walks to take him on. For us this was the perfect relaxing holiday and the owners were so helpful - they even came down to the cottage to take in our food delivery when the driver arrived early and we were still en route to the place. We loved our stay so much we're already planning on coming back!

This is the second time we have stayed at Pen Y Bont and were a little worried it wouldnt be as beautiful and immaculate as the first time but we needn't have worried.. It is simply gorgeous, so warm, inviting and tranquil. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with lots of walks. The little stream just running through the garden and by the side of the house just adds to the peaceful beauty of the place. To sit outside (in a jacket - it was February after all) having my breakfast with the noise of almost nothing other than the stream is such a lovely way to start your day. Had a great week playing games with the kids, watching the winter olympics and taking the dog on long walks. The outside hose and boot room are perfect for giving the dog a wash down and being able to dry him off in the boot room separate from the rest of the house.

I don't say this lightly - we've stayed in a lot of holiday cottages, because it's a great way to get away and take our elderly dog with us - but Pen Y Bont is something else entirely. Renovated to an extremely high standard with very good quality materials and furnishings, the house is attractive, well-appointed and very comfortable indeed. I've always hated the expression "the wow factor", but this house actually has it - and its kitchen/diner/sitting room (don't worry, there's also a fabulous snug with wood-burner) opens its doors on to a view to die for. That would be enough in itself - indeed, one of my benchmarks for a holiday rental is: "Would I like to live in this house?" - but its situation is close to paradise. We had no idea when we booked it how beautiful the Ceiriog valley was, nor how idyllic the cottage's own location. Surrounded by hills populated by sheep, adorable lambs and pheasants, the cottage has a garden extending into woodland with its own babbling brook running through it. There is no passing traffic, other than the odd farm vehicle or the once a day visit by the postie and the upper road from which the cottage is accessed has little traffic at the worst of time - which you can't hear, anyway. At night - silence. Perhaps an owl hooting and the occasional cry of a sheep to its lambs. If the sky is cloudless, you'll get a view of the heavens you seldom see elsewhere in the UK. The area is riddled with fabulous walking, some great places to eat and drink and excellent places to visit - like Llangollen, Chirk castle and the aqueducts at Pontcysyllte and Chirk. The owners have thought of just about everything. There's tea and home-made Welshcakes (which are a very different beast from the commercially-produced ones) with Welsh butter awaiting you, wood for the fire - and there's even a study if you've been forced to bring work with you or just fancy coming over all Jane Austen and dashing off a few letters/emails boasting of your amazing fortune in discovering this place.

We had a wonderful week staying in this GORGEOUS cottage! I couldn't fault it at all as it had everything we needed and more! Even the sun was on our side and shined all week as we sat in the garden watching the lambs play on the hills.

Lovely well presented cottage in a very picturesque setting.. Owners were friendly and very helpful. Perfect cottage for a relaxing weekend indoors or a weekend of hill walking... Or both! Looking forward to returning.

November 2016
Truly beautiful cottage in a delightful location.. The cottage is extremely well equipped and everything is of the highest quality for example crisp white bedding, fluffy white bed sheets. The bathroom is divine with underfloor heating and a powerful shower. It is so well designed - a large heated boot room where we could store our muddy bikes and boots. The views from the property cannot be surpassed and it has a beautiful private garden. Lovely welcoming touches too, vases of fresh flowers and a tray ready for afternoon tea with home made Welsh cakes.

A real opportunity to relax in a high quality property.. The surroundings are picturesque. The autumn display of colours was amazing. A real escape to the country.

October 2016
Location was out of reach for us, in a very good way, it was off the beaten track, the standard of accommodation was extremely well finished and to a very high standard.. The patron's, Linda and Guy were only a stones throw away if we had had any concerns, there is only one thing that we would change and that was the comfort of the lounge area seating, it was very hard, small and we needed to rest up on this Holiday, the stream running alongside the cottage was a thrill for our King Charles Cavalier Broghan, he had so much fun, we all had a great time on some of the popular walks nearby.
Mrs Russell, October 2016
September 2016
A beautifully renovated cottage in a lovely area.. The cottage is well planned to cater for people with dogs, muddy boots and wet coats but also to make the most of the sunshine and views.

September 2016
Being from the valley the cottage is set in and now living in Surrey , it was so nice to go back and to part of the ceiriog valley I haven't been to .. Absolutely beautiful and the cottage as the cherry on the cake . Loved it!!
Mr Gilson, September 2016
September 2016
The cottage and location were both excellent, plenty of space inside and out and we had the use of the owner's fields to exercise our dog.. Couldn't have wished for more! If you have a small dog then the garden is more than sufficient for exercise as the size of it is really quite deceiving and fully enclosed, if your dog likes water they'll be on cloud 9 :) Our boxer adored it and spent time playing in the stream in the garden and also in the river that runs through the fields. We had a very relaxing week and would like to return, the dog is already counting down the days til his next holiday! The owner Lynn is very friendly and made us feel welcome, with lots of little touches throughout the property. We arrived to find some afternoon tea laid out, fresh towels and all the little things like shower gel, kitchen roll etc that you tend to forget provided for us. If you're considering this property, just get it booked, you won't regret it!

We had a fantastic break at Pen y Bont, clean, comfortable and stylish cottage.. Very quiet picturesque location with lots of walks from the door which he dog particularly enjoyed. Loads of attractions within a short distance, would recommend Chirk Castle, Erddig and Llangollen Canal.

I stayed in Pen Y Bont last week with my wife and our two young daughters and had the most perfect relaxed holiday. Everything from the booking to meeting with the owner Lynn to collect the keys was effortless and lovely. The house is decorated to a very high standard, immaculately clean and provided the backdrop to a peaceful, relaxing holiday. The cottage, although out in the quiet countryside, is still in easy driving distance of nearby towns and villages - as well as in driving distance of several waterfalls including Wales' highest (Pistyll Rhaeadr), Snowdon, Betys y Coed and several other areas known for their beauty. There are also walks from the house through the surrounding countryside. Llangollen is nearby and the Cornmill pub there has nice food and a balcony that you can sit out on enjoying a drink looking over the river dee. If you have younger children their is also a steam train along the river Dee in Llangollen that sometimes has Thomas the Tank Engine visit (a proper full Thomas steam train). For the most part we simply enjoyed the peace, tranquility and walks (interspersed with viewing the Olympics which were on). I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone (as much as I would like to keep it our secret so that I dont have trouble booking when I want to come back - which I will). If you are going to Pistyll Rhaeadr then please be aware the road up is very narrow and if you have a wide car it might be worth timing it to go at a quiet time or parking in a village and walking up
Mrs Rees, September 2016
August 2016
This cottage is of a very high standard and the owners were very accommodating and friendly.. I was looking for a cottage in Snowdonia but due to last minute booking there was nothing available. This cottage is roughly 1h drive from Snowdonia but the quality of the accommodation and surroundings easily made up for the additional travel time. Everything was very clean and the cottage has everything you could possibly need.
Mr Hagemeister, August 2016
August 2016
The house is quite simply idyllic.. The house itself is immaculately clean and well maitained, with lovely little like the herb garden, a little stream that run through the back garden with such a peaceful sound to the floor to ceiling glass wall in the kitchen giving you views out to the beautiful garden and surrounding countryside. The cottage is out from the village but is in easy driving distance of several little towns and villages. There are several walks that can be taken from the cottage around the surrounding fields and hills. We will definately be coming back and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
