Very quiet location with beautiful views. Small shop nearby and a lovely pub just around the corner. The house had everything we needed. The beds were really comfortable. We only used the hot tub once but it was a great addition. The owner(Miles) rang me the night before and the morning we traveled to let us know how the roads into the village were as they had been flooded due to the amount of rain over the previous days. A definite place to go to get away from it all with great walks nearby.

We loved this house, clean, spacious & well equipped it is in a great location in the Eskdale valley for walking and exploring the area.. Good WiFi, smart TV, an open fire & a lovely hot tub. Off the road down a small lane so very peaceful. The steam railway runs in front of the house which is fun. The owner was easy to contact & very responsive. For example the Amazon Firestick had gone missing & he arranged for one to be delivered next day. Lovely pubs in the area, tried The Woolpack, Ratty Arms and The Bower House - all good. The shop in Eskdale Green is well stocked.

Unfortunately due to the current situation our holiday was cut short.. Miles the owner of the property was very apologetic but the situation was out of his control. The few days we did spend there was so relaxing and lovely. There is everything you could possibly need in the house and nothing was too much trouble for Miles before, during and after our holiday. We are definitely hoping to return as soon as possible.

Peel Place Noddle provided us the perfect location for a family getaway in a rainy March! ! The house is a great size with 2 large reception rooms, the kitchen is big with a lot of storage and a big dining table, this was great for family breakfasts. The living and dining room also had a dining table, which we used on Saturday night and easily fit 10 people around, although it was quite cosy. We used the fire both days of the weekend, there was just enough fire wood and kindling for this we didn't need to go into the extra stash in the utility room. For a longer booking it would be needed. The kitchen was stocked with alot of crockery and cutlery, I would advise to take your own cling film, foil etc as we forgot these. There was 1 towel per person, no extra for the hot tub or to use whilst the others are drying, however Miles did inform me of a dryer we could use. The hot tub was great, nice and warm and clean when we arrived!! We used it both days. Unfortunately the King George pub was closed whilst we were there, but the sign outside said it would be opening in Easter, so we used The Bower House Inn, which was about a mile away, we walked, it was lovely. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Small note, take your own toilet roll and soap, there was not enough even for 2 nights.

Location is excellent.. Beds and towels super clean. Property has character. Superb WiFi throughout, I could work from home here comfortably if I wanted. Netflix on TV for those rainy days. Central heating recently upgraded and gives a real kick! Could maybe upgrade pots and pans cutlery but that's being fussy

We had a lovely stay in the cottage with the entire family for my mum’s 50th Birthday.. The cottage was well equipped - everything needed to cook a big Sunday roast, the rooms were spacious and the garden and hot tub were private and well maintained.

The house was lovely and clean, with a great heating system.. The added benefit of the coal fire was a bonus. The view from the house was excellent. Hot tub was well used by all. Mind you an overhead cover would be nice. The local pub (King George lV) food was superb and the size of the helpings was amazing. If I had any concerns it would be the width of the roads all around the area. Locals drive too fast and expect you to stop or reverse to a passing place. Plenty to see and do in the area.

I booked Peel Place Noddle for my 50th birthday to spend Friday to Sunday with a group of my girlfriends and it was such a lovely place to spend it.. The cottage has very spacious bedrooms, the beds are extremely comfortable and clean and the kitchen is huge and a great place to gather! There are three toilets but only two showers in the cottage (one in the main bathroom and one ensuite attached to a single room) which when you have a big group staying is a little like a military operation but we managed! The owner, Miles, was at the end of the phone for all our queries and even when we couldn't start the fire on the first night, as we had no firelighters or kindling, he sorted his lovely neighbour, Adrian, to pop round and get it going for us - what an absolute star! The hot tub was wonderful and warm and a lovely experience stargazing in a bikini and bobble hat! At the bottom of the garden there is the Ravensglass railway line which we did on the Saturday morning to visit their advertised Christmas market however that was a tad disappointing as it was a tent with about 8 stalls in it and no mulled wine (what's that all about?!) and the village only has a post office and two pubs, but the villagers were so welcoming. We visited the Ratty Arms which was a lovely cosy pub, and on the way chatted to one of the locals, Anne, to ask where was the shop as I'd forgotten my toothbrush and she subsequently turned up in the pub with a new one for me! (Anne now has a Bacardi put behind the bar because one random act of kindness deserves another!) We had an evening meal on the Saturday night at the King George IV (a short walk away and do-able in heels!) and the Landlord and chef were so welcoming and we had a great night, nothing was too much trouble for them and they even provided us all with free shots - which to be fair tasted like de-icer but it's the thought that counts! All in all we had a lovely stay and would recommend it.

The cottage we booked was excellent & had everything to hand that you could need The bedrooms & bathrooms were spotless & the living areas were of a very high standard and very comfortable indeed - especially the sofas! ! The hot tub was an added bonus - the views are outstanding- I couldn’t recommend Peel Place Noddle enough

Great property, extremely well equipped and comfortable.. Location is really great for accessing the S West Lake District area. Great walks on the doorstep. I had an absolutely fabulous birthday weekend there with my family. An ice tray or 2 in the freezer would be good. However local pub kindly sold me a bag of ice to chill my birthday bubbly / cool the G&T's. There ought to be a very obvious statement on the property description about NOT following the SATNAV to get there. My fault for not reading the Directions link properly .... we drove over Hardknock pass in the dark.... "Hardknott Pass is known as one of Britain's most challenging roads. This single track road right through the middle of the Lake District National Park, in the region of Cumbria, England, it’s a heart-stopping series of sharp and narrow hairpin bends. It’s said to be the steepest road in England with a gradient of 1 in 3 (about 33%)." Also a mention of the narrow stone pillars on the drive with a suggestion to park at Eskdale Green would be helpful. Our very wide Skoda Superb Estate did make it over the pass and down the drive, but only just. A wonderful property though and I definitely hope to return.

We all had a fabulous time at the cottage.. Very spacious and had everything you needed. Great location, not too far from scarfell and the hot tub really hit the spot after a challenging walk. We will definitely recommend and possibly return at some point.

This is a fine, comfortable house, in a good position, with delightful views.. It is full of charm and character. However, we discovered a number of minor faults with the house, such as a sink not having a plug, which slightly spoiled the overall impression. Also (as mentioned in the previous review), the sash-window frame in the single bedroom has been painted over, meaning that the window cannot be opened. (I left a note for the ‘Cottage Manager’ detailing the various faults, in case they are not already aware). Despite these minor faults, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Very comfortable house with fabulous hot tub.. We had a great holiday. A couple of minor points Only a 2 person teapot in a 10 person house The bedroom window in the single room wouldn't open as it had been painted shut This didn't spoil our holiday though!

It might be worth advising future customers who book this cottage that any cars would not be able to get down the track and through the gates.. This was an issue for 2 cars who had to park at the station car park. Also the kitchen tap needs fixing as it twists around

This is a great retreat for a large family or a group of friends looking to make their own entertainment and enjoy the natural beauty of Cumbria. This isn't a top quality rental, so if that's your expectation look elsewhere, however - if you are looking for a homely, comfortable, affordable holiday home which is in a beautiful location with lots of space and the bonus of an open-air hut tub and a real fire in the lounge then this could be ideal. Peel Place Noddle was once a family home and much of it remains unchanged from these days. That has a sweetness, and if you can embrace this perspective and not be too critical you will enjoy every moment at 'the Noddle'. There is a beautiful, spacious, safe and enclosed garden area which includes parking for 3/4 cars. Beware that vans may struggle due to narrow pillars on the entrance to the track. The wood-burner is located in a small 'snug' with a 2-seater sofa. The main lounge area has an open fire which needs lots of fuel to warm up the room in the winter due to the large size of the open-plan lounge and dining area. The hot-tub is located on a wooden decking, just off the main lounge/diner, which is ideal for popping in and out without getting too cold. The kitchen is large with a hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. If you enjoy cooking you may wish to pack your own knives to avoid disappointment. One family bathroom plus a downstairs toilet and a single en-suite room may be a struggle if you are not close family and friends and you manage to fill the place. There is free wifi, a TV and access to a CD player. A mini-railway runs along the bottom of the garden in the main season and there is a pub and a shop within a 10 minute walk (in opposite directions). It's a dog friendly rental and could be suitable for children depending on their ages. There are some lovely walks from the doorstep. The 'drying room' is a good feature to make sure your boots and jackets are ready for the next day regardless of the conditions. I'd be happy to consider a return trip if we were staying in the area.

This is a super place from which to explore the beautiful Eskdale.. The house is easy walking distance from the local shop and the pub, and is right next to the miniature railway station. Excellent for walkers with a utility room for mucky boots and a hot tub for aching limbs. I would recommend bringing a pair of binoculars, the area is alive with birdsong and perfect for spotting birds. Newly installed central heating kept us all very warm too. Thank you for a super holiday.

January 2018
The cottage and location were lovely, however I was disappointed at the cleanliness as some of the rooms were quite dusty and it was obvious no one had stayed in the property for a while.. Towels should have been included but we had to hunt for these, they hadn't been left out, unsure if they were forgotten? They were all in one wardrobe folded up but only bath towels no matching hand towels! I'd arrived a few days earlier than my family so could prepare the rooms and advised people to bring hand towels with them! The house was lovely and warm and was very well equipped. There was a welcome folder that was falling apart and gave very little information but some maps and walking suggestions. The location is picturesque and it's lovely and peaceful. The hot tub was an added bonus and was clean on arrival. However after a few days use it had clouded over and myself, my boyfriend and my sister found rashes on our backs and underarms when we got home Sunday night so unsure what had gone to wrong to cause that! If these niggles could be corrected it wouldn't stop me from staying again as the location was good, the house and all bedrooms a great size and if suited our needs for 4 generations for my 30th celebrations with family.

Just back from our second stay in this home from home but in the most beautiful valley. The house boasts a gorgeous garden, hot tub and the Ratty (narrow gauge steam train) runs past, what's not to love!!! We are three generations, three dogs group that love walking the fells then hitting the pub for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks, you are spoilt for choice. If shopping yours thing Eskdale isn't for you but if you love beautiful scenery, wildlife, walking, then this is the place.

Just got back from a wonderful week in Eskdale Green, the house is great for a large group, there were 9 adults and 1 child in our party, the house is good value for money and now also boasts a hot tub. We found the owner extremely helpful and easy to contact. A great base for exploring the local area and surrounding areas, with a short drive to Wasdale Head for a hike up Scafell Pike. Would also recommend the local pub King George IV for great bar meals and ales.

We loved the homely feel and the brightness and airiness about the house. Due to the layout of the house, every window faced out towards the mountains and the sun poured in nearly all day. The house itself was very well equipped with more than enough blankets, cutlery, crockery, towels etc.
