Mr Lawson
September 2020
The converted barn was exceptionally well appointed.. Clean , warm and very comfortable. A lovely quiet location with easy access to the dales and the lakes. We would most definitely stay there again. A very nice touch was the welcome bottle of wine and the various crackers and biscuits, present on our arrival. We would like to say a big thank you to all involved .

The cottage was in a lovely remote location, was clean and had all the amenities that we could ask for.. There’s a fantastic walk over the moor to Reeth with some lovely pubs. Thanks very much Val for our stay, the information you provided was throughout and informative and we couldn’t have asked for a better place! Would 10/10 stay again!

Lovely, well provisioned conversion in a quiet rural location.. Ideal for getting away from the rat race. Beautiful area and location steeped in history. Very friendly, helpful owner who provided lots of information on walks etc, plus left bird food so we could see the many birds who visit the garden and patio area. We hope to return to explore further

What a fabulous place, the cottage was excellent had everything you needed.. Warm, comfortable lounge with log burner, large kitchen fully equipped. We had the en-suite bedroom, the bed was so comfortable and had a lovely hot shower. Our daughter, son-In-law and Grandaughter’s also enjoyed their stay. It is situated in a lovely peaceful, spot overlooking the countryside. We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder and watching the black grouse flying around the cottage. One sat on the top of our car the grandkids loved it!! We also had the pleasure of sitting outside with a cup of tea on New Years Day. Took some great photos of the sunset too. We would throughly recommend cottage. Thanks again Linda and Neil Corfield and The Hobbs Family.

Stunning, away from it all location, with excellent walking from the front door. Wonderfully comfortable and everything we needed or could have needed was provided. We rarely return to a place twice (too many other places to visit) but we definitely plan to return to Padley Barn

A fantastic cottage that I have already booked again for next year.. Great communications from the owner as well.

A very good welcome pack - and the amount and quality of the equipment was exceptional.. It is set in a beautiful part of the Dales with wonderful views -quiet and restful, but be prepared to travel 6 miles to the nearest village and pub -at Grinton. The building itself is a very well done barn conversion, and is comfortable and roomy.

The location is absolutely wonderful! In the heart of Swaledale with stunning views of the moors. A great walking area and close to several charming villages. The cottage is very well equipped, extremely comfortable, clean and attractive. You can walk into the beautiful countryside straight from the front door but if you want a pub or a shop you'll need to travel several miles - we loved the peace and quiet. The surrounding moors are home to many sheep, grouse and rabbits and the neighbouring chickens and cat may pay you a visit which our children enjoyed. The owner is very helpful and responsive and the house contains lots of local information and detailed maps which were very useful.

Padley Barn is the best cottage that we have stayed in, in fact this is our second stay and already planning a third. It is situated in the remote small village of Hurst where you experience peace and tranquillity and just watching all the different birds especially ‘Woody’ the woodpecker that visit the feeders is so relaxing. Padley Barn is spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything and more than you need for the stay. The welcome pack is a very nice touch. It is extremely comfortable and has the most luxurious bed that I have ever slept in. The village of Reeth is about 5 miles away where you can stock up on any forgotten provisions. Despite being in a remote location the Wi-Fi was very good (probably better than we get at home) and there are plenty of walks from the doorstep so no need to use the car. Can’t wait to visit again next year.

Was a great cottage but a little too isolated unless you were a walker.. Would still recommend it to anyone wanting peace and tranquility.

Padley Barn is beautiful.. I have had a lovely break there and only wish I'd had the time for a longer stay. I know such an isolated hamlet would not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me it was perfect.

We spent a wonderful week at Padley barn with our children and in laws last week. It is a beautiful barn equipped with everything you could need for a lovely family holiday. The Barn is quite remote but this suited us and the local area is lovely for walking and mountain biking. Reeth is a short distance by car or by bike and is definitely worth a visit - there a few nice pubs, a lovely cafe/coffee shop called overton house which we visited for breakfast, a small museum crammed full of information on the local area, shops selling locally made items and a library/tourist information point (worth a visit to pick up some info as there is lots to see and do in the local area). Richmond and Leyburn are also close by and we had lovely days out in both places. Catterick Garrison seemed to be the closest place for a supermarket (tesco) and large shopping outlet if you need them. We were there for the Ard Rock Enduro event and our accommodation was close by and a perfect place to explore the locally area on the mountain bikes. We loved Yorkshire, Reeth and Padley Barn and hope to return soon

We have just spent a few lovely days at Padley Barn with our family. It is in a beautiful if rather remote location. The cottage is warm and cosy with an impressively well equipped kitchen. I would highly recommend, there are many interesting places to visit nearby and good walking/cycling.

Great Cottage. Had two brilliant weeks. Everything there is of a very high standard and top quality. I have to confess that I only used half of the amazing cooker. Loads of cutlery, plates etc. I only mention this as we've been in many cottages that provide the bare minimum. There's virtually anything that you may need on hand. We had one hot week followed by a cooler week and then the burner in the "lounge" came into its own. Fantastic. Best and easiest to light fuel burner we've ever had in a cottage. There are neighbours to the left and right (4 dwellings in all on the track) who were all a pleasure to know and will help you with anything if you need it, but otherwise respect your privacy and you don't see them. Having said that, you will meet their animals. There are chickens constantly visiting the front of the cottage, usually to check out the ground under the bird feeding station, to which great tits, coal tits, blue tits, a nuthatch, a great spotted woodpecker, many chaffinches and sparrows were regular visitors, plus a regular Mr and Mrs Pheasant. Many great walks from the cottage, without using your car, but within a 5 to 15 min drive the dale offers immense opportunities. You have Catterick Garrison Retail Complex and Richmond only 20 mins away, whilst if you walk up past the lane Padley Barn is on, within 5 mins you're on open moorland. Loved it. Wifi worked well, just the odd glitch but no problem. The bed in the "master" bedroom is huge and pretty well the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Super place and super location.

Really enjoyed our stay at Padley. It was very well equipped and beautifully presented. All the furnishings were of good quality and felt like home as soon as we arrived. The directions to the property were very detailed including general information about the surroundings towns and places to eat. It was evident the owner has taken a lot of time and energy to make it an enjoyable holiday home. We will return and would recommend it to family and friends.

We booked this as a group of work friends as a weekend away. We were booked for Friday to Sunday night inclusive but only stayed for 2 due to work commitments, It still worked out ery cheap per night! Communication prior to our visit was excellent, every question answered in detail. On arrival to the barn it was very clean, well laid out, tastefully decorated with more than enough facilities (you couldn't get moved for the chopping boards in the kitchen!). There was instructions for everything, bedding and furnishings to the highest standard as well as loads of stuff in the cupboards (spices, sauces, coffee etc etc). The views are awesome and it is a very tranquil place. Phone signal is none existent and wi fi is hit or miss. Not sure why they have a sky+hd tv box as only channel 1-5 worked. maybe this has something to do with the location being remote? Really though, there's nothing to complain about and we will be making it an annual retreat... we may even go twice a year!
