We absolutely loved the cottage and had a fantastic weekend.. The cottage was very well-equipped in great surroundings and close enough for a nice walk into Windermere (about 20 mins).
Hopefully, we'll get chance to stay again sometime in the future.

We have been here before, and it was as good as the first time, a very good time had by all..

Absolutely fantastic cottage.. Really clean. Great location just outside Windermere, close enough to nip for supplies but far enough to be so peaceful. Would absolutely book again.

Cannot fault the cottage.. Showers very fiddly though ended up not using them and hot water in Bath didn't seem very hot. Very disappointed in the managing agents Sykes. Poor telephone manner when asking for address of cottage was told look at email, I just wanted the postcode. Addressed to Mr rather than Mrs, there's no Mr. I wouldn't recommend Sykes as letting agents for a toilet never mind a cottage as nice as Owl barn, it let's the experience down.

Totally enjoyed the peace and tranquillity at Owl Barn.. Was certainly a great base to explore the Bowness-on-Windermere area. Spent four nights there and will definitely want to come back. Thank you for the delightful stay.
Very attractively finished and well equipped.. Quality throughout eg linen, crockery was tops. Warm auto heating/water. Great care in instructions/ walk maps from the house etc. We all loved it on a classic wet Lakes weekend!
The cottage was the cleanest i have ever been in and the kitchen and bathrooms were so thoughtfully equipped, down to cleaning equipment and a great range of utensils.. We had a fabulous time, made better by a lovely cottage.
The cottage was as advertised and had all the amenities one would expect.. The kitchen was particularly well stocked with various cooking utensils, dishes and pots/pans. The property was very child friendly and we enjoyed the books and games available in the lounge. Overall a fantastic stay.
A very well equipped and comfortable cottage could not find anything at all .... A very well equipped and comfortable cottage could not find anything at all wrong with it, second cottage we have had from Sykes this year both have been very good
Cottage was just as advertised, more than enough kitchen requirements to meet our needs.. Very central to all we wanted to see.
Comfortable accommodation, a great pity about the building work going on directly opposite the property..
We has a great week in the cottage.. The kitchen was far better equipped than other cottages we have stayed in. It was clean comfortable and had real homely feel but not like living in someone else's house. The only 2 slight negative issues was the lack of recycling and the constant bonfire from the buliders renovating the adjacent properties.
We had one issue with the cottage which was promptly and satisfactorily sorted out by a phone call to the owner.. The cottage was lovely and very well equipped with everything we needed for a restful break.
Cottage is exactly as in photos.. Comfy beds, clean, great location and ideal for a family or group of friends.
The room arrangement at Owl Barn was perfect for our family group, providing extra privacy for the couple using the upstairs bedroom.. Everything we needed was provided, and the WiFi was unusually good.
We wanted to explore and walk every day, and found that being only a mile out of Windermere provided good access to the mountains in the southern Lake District, yet Owl Barn was insulated from the noise of the busy A591 road by being a few hundred metres away, so no worries about traffic passing.
We had a problem on our 4th day when we drove in to the main gateway off Heaning Lane from the Mislet direction. This involves a 180 degree turn, so we did a 3 point turn.
This was fine to clear the stone gateposts, but the left rear wheel went into a 200mm deep hole where the tarmac is missing, the the rear bumper was ripped off the car. We are facing a bill of £600 to £1000 to get this repaired. To continue using the car it was necessary to try to push the torn bumper back in position, and hold it there using some tape that we had. The Owner of Owl Barn said the missing tarmac is the responsibility of the County Council. Surely the best solution is to get this gap filled with tarmac ASAP, as a paint mark on the edge show that other tenants have had a problem here too.
Fabulous weather enhanced our break with son and his family (wife and two boys) but we would have been impressed with the accommodation anyway.. Location ideal for walkers/adults requiring peace and quiet but possibly little isolated for small children (our youngest was two so had to use cars more than we would have done normally). Windermere is an easy one mile walk and the Watermill pub/restaurent probably a little less. Visited Stavley and Bowness (did ferry to lakeside then steam train and aquarium). Accommodation very well equipped and clean, beds extremely comfortable. Only slight negative was 10 am departure requirement but guess that's what's needed for turn round cleaning/beds etc.
We celebrated Christmas at Owl Barn- and my Dad's 95th birthday (he lives nearby so didn't stay with us).. We were very impressed with the facilities in the cottage, it was the best equipped cottage we have rented. 6 adults plus a 2 year old child stayed and 3 other adults joined us for meals- and for Christmas Day and there was plenty of room for us all, yet it had a very homely feel.
Great cottage, well equipped with nice quality furnishings and equipment.. It was nice and warm and easy to find.
Fabuloys cottage in a great location.. Cottage was very well equipped and plenty of space for us. Especially liked the layout 9f the 3 floors. Beautiful spot and was very sad to leave.
Lovely property with excellent facilities.. Ideal for a family group and in an excellent location.
Owl Barn was a fantastic cottage situated in a fantastic location.
We have rented this property for several years and like it because of its comfort and pleasant surroundings. There is easy access to all the places we wish to visit and go walking. The cottage is always warm and is situated near to Windermere without being too close to the town.
Beautiful cottage with lots of character, very clean and cosy. Upstairs bedroom with four poster bed and en suite was lovely, bed really comfy. Plenty of bedding, towels, crockery etc provided, couldn't fault it.
A lovely cottage, it was well equipped and very clean. In a good location.
Very well equipped kitchen and selection of books and games in the cottage. In a beautiful area.
