Area
Grange-over-Sands has one of the mildest climates in northern England, nestled between the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Grange-over-Sands was a small fishing village before the Furness Railway. The town offers a traffic-free promenade, ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts, and bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which retain their charm and character, and Cartmel, the home of sticky toffee pudding, with its famous racecourse and the 4th best restaurant in the UK, L'Enclume. Levens Hall, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust mediaeval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory are also nearby. Grange over Sands also has the 25-mile Cistercian Way. Grange-over-Sands, set among the southern lakes, is a great base for exploring this area.

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
