The cottage lacked an airer ,washing line.. also a indoor brush and dustpan as there wasn't anything to sweep hallway and kitchen floor. We also was unable to get the central heating to work and as the weather was cold and rainy we could have done with the extra heating. Hope this information is of use to other visitors. We had an amazing holiday.. It was our first time in the Lake District. My son and I who is 9 years old absolutely loved the cottage. The location was brilliant and the cottage had a very comfy warm feel about it. The bedrooms where lovely and the beds so comfy I had the best sleep I have had in a long time. Coming from London it was so great to be able to enjoy amazing views and lots of open lush green space. John is a great host who made us feel very welcome. We were fortunate enough to be able to get fresh eggs from him which was great. The location of the cottage was great we were able to access lake Windermere, the steam train and cruise and also Go Ape. We had an amazing staycation definitely will be doing it again and highly recommend staying at his cottage.

Mr Moore is lovely and friendly. And got on very well with my dad. He showed my dad around the farm and all his land a cattle. Will definitely be going back.

We loved staying at this beautiful location, John the host was excellent, the free fresh farm eggs were delicious.. We took our 17 month year old daughter with us & she enjoyed looking at the cows, sheep and lambs. Very peaceful at night, bedding soft and luxurious. Fitted wardrobes with ample space his & hers. Very large chest drawers. Superb bathroom. ( very modern) Kitchen with ample space, long dining table good for sitting & enjoying meals with family ( tv in kitchen) Separate sitting room, great for letting little one roam around play. Excellent location for visiting the lake districts many beautiful walks. You are close buy to Grange Overs Sands and many of the beautiful surrounding villages and restaurants, takeaways, cafes, shops. Many good national trust properties nearby and view points. Lots of private houses and halls to see, Levens Hall with fantastic topiary gardens Holker Hall Motor museum Boat cruises Steam trains Great train links for exploring coast line Morecambe easy to get to. So many things to do that we will have to come back many times to explore.

Friendly owner, very clean and spacious rooms.. Modern facilitate in a traditional farm house. Very quiet, just a couple of miles to Grange town and Cartmel. Would have liked a clothes drying rack for our washed outdoor clothes.

Yes we were booked into another cottageCase ID69292 from Friday 06 July, but as there was buuilding work i.. E deep trenches right at the side of doorstep we informed Alice Saturday morning and she very kindly found us this cottage, which we moved to on Saturday 7th. This was the first time I have had to complain regarding Sykes cottages, and have used you for many years. So when we arrived at Outerthwait Cottage near Flookborough we were so relieved and relaxed to enjoy our last minute holiday very much. I cannot praise the cottage owner or his family enough, they were so kind and helpful, and we had a really lovely time at this very comfortable cottage. We also enjoyed watching the comings and goings of them bringing in the Silage and now appreciate how hard a job it is on a farm. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage as it had everything you could wish for and more, the views down the fields to Morecambe Bay were very good, and the cottage was immaculate and very comfortable. Hope to return in the future.

We booked this property at the absolute last minute and were settled in within 2 hours of booking, so thank you to Sykes Cottages staff and the property owner Mr Moore and his family for accommodating us so quickly.. The cottage is light and airy and the rooms are very spacious, it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, there is plenty to do and see in the local area. We would have no hesitation returning to this cottage and would recommend to family and friends.

We stayed in this wonderful, very comfortable, very cosy and well furnished property during the October 2014 half term break. We were met by the very friendly owner who made us feel most at home. Outerthwaite Cottage is based on a working farm and is situated a short drive away from Cartmel and Grange over Sands. We would certainly recommend Outerthwaite Cottage as an ideal holiday location to also explore Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Grizedale Forest and other numerous locations in Cumbria. We took a short drive down to Humphrey Head and parked up to admire the scenic views. We would also recommend that this would be an excellent place to walk to and explore. A short drive away we also found two excellent pubs which both had a super atmosphere and served good food, namely the Pheasant Inn and the Rose and Crown. We highly recommend Outerthwaite Cottage. Thank you from the Wood Family - Merseyside.
